The best part about this match journey has been meeting so many amazing physicians from across different medical schools all around the world. During open houses, mock iv sessions, and iv breakout rooms, we became friends! And seeing them succeed has been the best! 🙌🏼

Woke up today to the news of one of my mentees passing Step 1. This made me happier than passing all three of my own steps! As a first generation physician, it feels surreal to see people with similar backgrounds progress towards their dreams!

Love the idea! I did electives at LNH, AKU and SIUT. Not exactly university exposure but u get a good exposure of how clinical training is in those places for students and it definitely helped me become a better student when u have that perspective of what all can be done!
@KMirza
Thank you Dr. Mirza! Your input on my PS was very valuable to me and it made all the difference for me this cycle! I started the journey with no formal mentorship and am humbled and grateful beyond words by all the support Ive received 🥹🙏🏻.
Best part of my recent

USCE! The feeling of connection I felt with my patients and their families as they came for follow ups rekindled my love for peds! A kid I had seen recently came in with his sibling and immediately exclaimed I remember you and we high-fived!✨😄
The youth holds immense power to shape a nation's advancement and plays a crucial role in building the nation. Consequently, it is essential to ensure that they possess the requisite abilities and knowledge to preserve lives.
During nursery rounds today one of the families were celebrating by distributing these beautifully wrapped chocolates and I think its the cutest! 😍

I hope next year is softer. I hope you look close enough to see the brushstrokes. I hope the light is always green. I hope you tell old stories and invent new ones. I hope next year is a warmly lit room, and the room is so tangled with laughter, you can’t tell whose is whose.
Loving the clarity Im getting from running! As an amateur, feels great to even run 2mi! Also, had some great inspiration for my PS! Win-win! 🙌🏼

This makes me so happy! We have a long way to go but neonatal screening is a significant step that will help in early intervention and improving pediatric healthcare in Pakistan! Kudos to the
@AKUGlobal
team for pioneering this! 🙌🏼
Godspeed to our Newborn Screening initiative! This is just the beginning of transforming early healthcare for our little ones. 🩺🩸 Super proud of

For those with upcoming

videos on YT as a great resource to prepare for my patient cases! Relevant to what I saw being practiced in the hospital and in line w/ the info on UptoDate

Try starting with a friend/study partner. Could never get myself to do Anki till had my study partner study with me. You MUST do it daily for the algorithm to be most effective.
Dear incoming interns:
Remember that your attendings have been practicing medicine for years, while you're essentially getting a new job every 4 weeks.
Know that your job is not to know everything. You job is to show up, ask questions, & care deeply for your patients.
When your kid has a low-grade fever, your first instinct may be to give them an over-the-counter fever-reducing medication. But that’s actually not what doctors recommend.
I said goodbye to a patient a few years ago. She didn’t die, she just got old. I treat patients to age 21 and they move on. When they do, I joke, “well, I did my job! I kept you alive until adulthood!”
With this kid, it was not a joke. 1/
I thought med school taught me empathy until I sat in waiting rooms and held the hands of my dear ones by their hospital beds. That’s when I realised I still needed to keep learning.
“If you could stand in someone else’s shoes, hear what they hear, see what they see, and feel what they feel, would you treat them differently?”

Not sure what I was more excited about today in rounds; our attending teaching us how to test the neonatal reflexes or showing us how to make the perfect swaddle and soothe a crying infant! Pediatricians have a gift!

Funny how as children we’re the bravest about our dreams and choices. Congratulations on keeping that courage alive! Wishing you all the best for the journey ahead ❤️

Most pediatric programs said they will start sending iv invites after the 10th as per the AAPD recommendations. Not sure about other specialties.
@SadiqNaveed
In your early prep days when ure trying to retain information, use premade decks. Great ones available for steps. Choose one thats practical. Anking is great but too extensive so I knew Id never do it so I chose a shorter deck, Use what works for you.
@mariamtawana
I love how nature can help reset the chaos of everyday life! Sometimes, Im so busy with work and deadlines and then for a sec I look out the window and that grounds me! 🥹
@adeebaahmed_
Im so happy for you! Seeing you on your journey and what its took to get here. 🥹❤️ p.s I have massive respect for people interviewing with the crazy time zone differences. You’re amazing!
@SadiqNaveed
Honestly just start. Anki is honestly very complex. No need to be a pro and get overwhelmed by the perfect settings. Just use basic cards and do them every day.
Today, I had a conversation with a friend who recently traveled to the UK for an exam. He had a lot of trouble with housing and transportation, and even had to visit the hospital at one point. When I asked him about his take on life in Manchester and abroad in general,
As a resident doctor, there are few compliments that hit harder than coming in to a shift and an attending/nurse/coworker/patient saying, “Oh thank God it’s you!”
🥺🥺🥺
@SamarM09
This is so beautiful, made me teary reading it 🥹 Also, setting wallpapers as reminders is such a vibe! I had the match email as my wallpaper cuz manifesting 😅🙈
