Took my step 3 during war in my country. Couldnt submit my fellowship application on time cuz my MSPE was delayed. Applying to less programs due to financial strains. Im not giving up. My Names is Sarah Bakheet and I am applying for ID fellowship

this is sooo painful its hurts to even read it. I am so sorry u went through it. I think sexual harassment classes should start as early as high school. for young girls to be able to identify it and report it. u were young and kind it wasn't ur fault he's the shameless predator
IMGS like myself who struggled to get into training in the US will NEVER take it for granted. Didactics, ID confrence and transplant rounds. Having all this knowledge poured into ur brain I go to bed early so I dont miss a word my attending say it is a previlge to train here
1st day of fellowship my co-ordinator yelling "Sarah are you Halal", Me: yes! Her: Great cuz we are ordering Shawerma . Loooove my program and my coordinator and shawerma ofcourse!
@girlziplocked
i think if men were good kind responsible significant others women would think differently. What we r doing is a reaction to the quality of men around us, which has changed. Men dont want to make an effort anymore, and women decided they just wont take it
@CaseySeidemanMD
everywere basically everywere. We had a lot of US trained physicians in Abudhabi, UAE (the arabian gulf area) they are well paid and well respected
@TPP_MD
i found happiness the moment i stopped linking it to "goals" or acheivments. The moment i stopped saying ill be happy wen im a mom ill b happy wen im a consultant. Saved me a lot of sad years as i was only 32. ur enough without the degree without the properties...ur enough
When ur hopeless thats the time when u pray the most, went to Mekka for Omra and visited Prophet Mohamed pbuh in Madina and now i feel cleansed and invincible
Guys going for step 3 got a couple of DMs regarding advice for exam preperation hence im posting this video. Tgis guhs gives the best advice ever i wish i had seen this video 1 month before my exam instead of 1 day
@drapurva1986
i got sooo many rejections and today i got 1 "maybe" and I was thrilled. They said they might consider me for the 2nd round of interviews and that just gave me hope. Get up and practice, that IV is coming ur way 🤞
@NurseOSavage
At my hospital its compulsary every nurse has a short and a long break per shift. The shift leader makes sure u get it. And no one is allowed to bother u during ur break and I realy respect that. If i call and a nurse says im on break i end the call period
Is it just me or are these match headshots getting better every year 😎 And also how come so many people love poop 💩were my ID fellows at? Wishing you ALL the best of luck

1/An additional point is virtual interviews have lead to hoarding. Due to the accessability and the fact that candidates dont need to leave their homes. Some applicants consider accepting many interviews a form of practice
@jasonryanmd
i disagree ...i think u have to memorise them, and u have to know about sensitivity and specificity. These r labs u will use daily to diagnose and exclude me u will thank me
@ecalhoun21
some people just live for push back wether its a consult, transfer of care or transfer of patient. And it doesnt matter how much u makes sense they still push back 🤷🏾♀️

well something that helped me was having someone with experience review your eras application. Sometimes we r underselling ourselves and not writing our cvs or applications in a way that serves us1/2
@AndrewGutwein
i love in person interviews it shows how invested someone is specialy for an IMG it means we get a visa get on a plane and fly to get a chance to compete in that program
@FScottRossMD

@TheNRMP
this is what i always say when it comes to IMG s and older graduates. If someone graduates 8 years ago but they spent all that time practicing this should count.
10 years back, I left my village back in India to move to small city to complete my higher education not knowing that life would make this strong to think about this journey and complete it.
Just one cent, dream!! Your background doesnot matter but your vision does.

@oatsdoc
see in order to score high in exams u gotta remember exams and actual practice are 2 different things. In the exam the right thing to do is what the qbank tells u and u learn it to score at the exam. but u dont apply that to ur clinic or ED or OR.
an approach to ID consults for new fellows:
- nobody is actually infected, like ever
- if they somehow are, get surgery to cut it out/off and only give a very short course, if any abx
- if they can’t get or don’t want surgery, say it’s bad to give abx forever and sign off
@malkeasaad
i totally agree. The best clinician is not necessarily the best exam taker. Some people r good at mcqz some rock at intubation and central lines and working under stress.
@hanabaig_
its important to have that kind of support. My program coordinator showed me were to get halal food my fellows showed were to pray. it feels amazing 💓

We’re afraid of wasted work.
But if it makes you better, no work is wasted.
