From a working-class background, no industry connections. First in my family to go to uni for a "low value" degree. It connected me to the people from different social classes. Ended up in Hollywood directing 3 films. The arts should be for everyone not just Rishi & friends!

He’s being a smart filmmaker. A theatrical release is easier to keep an audience watching the whole film. They’ve paid to see the film, traveled to the cinema, bought popcorn. If you don’t like the film you’ve streamed, find something new! Two different entities.

I do see your point Ben that there is small pockets of private money for genre (mainly horror) . But, how do you make high end genre films focused towards a cinema release without going to America?

@EmilyEverdee @leessii I feel It’s the same for working class directors. In 6 years I’ve worked on lots of projects that have not happened for various reasons. But still had to pay out for development costs, train fares, meeting after meeting with no support & made zero money for my time. Its Tough
