@ pharmacy.2 ( maskless)clerks conferring anxiously around their cell phones. noted me +broke apart. 1said, “I don’t care if he has C.Tell him he has 2come in”.
As he helped me, I said, “Hey. If he has C, u don’t want him here. Believe me, u don’t want get this. “1/2
2/2Him: well,he’s going 2 b fired, b/c he can’t show a+C test
Me:*well,the current home tests often don’t pick up new variants. If they do,might not b until the 5/6th day*
Him: *O.don’t think my boss knows that*
2nd Clerk:*I thought C was gone*
Me:it’s not
@NeurologistMom
@Squijibo
And, just as a note, our sweet, sweet dog, Sophia, is from Istanbul! She is a Canaan dog. We have decided that the best dogs in the world, are from Turkey 💕
@CovidintheChart
I am so sorry. How are people so awful. This is why I love my dogs… and avoid people, now. And I was in CS- thought that “ I loved people”. I no longer do. Think of them as biohazards. Sadly
@SweetBCBoi
I suspect they think that we might think they are possibly infected. This they find insulting? After all, they “ don’t have ‘cooties’.” But actually, they might , so… my mask says on.
@Guiness_Pig
@sasswashere
Why then doesn’t the cdc mandate respirators in medical settings? This would surly, at least, help prevent some unnecessary nosocomial infections
@1goodtern
@CarolynmcG
Because they don’t see any warnings, on the media they watch/ trust. The truth is hidden from them, deliberately. Almost everyone they know, believe, like them, that there is no risk. That the “ pandemic “ is over. Propaganda
@Iamjacksdisgust
@sasswashere
I hear you. I am where you are. If the media reported the perils of infection/ reinfection, would not be an issue. Husband ( a news watcher), sees NOTHING on media. No one he knows, wears masks. So, I am spitting in the wind, when I attempt to have him take precautions
@jubunnies
I would spend the money for the airb&b. Even if unaffordable, worth it for not possibly getting infected with Covid. Sorry you’re faced with this situation. I blame government/ media propaganda for convincing many that “ COVID is gone”
@MeetJess
20 years from now, science will admit what we are gleaning. That the disease( “LC” , that we call now sequelae) , is the true peril of COVID infection. And that affects virtually all who contracted it. Hopefully, PH officials will be ashamed. But I wouldn’t count on it.
Just got Novavax XBB 23-24 @ Costco. Not necessary to be a member.Made appointment online.When we got there,paperwork was all done, we only had to sign. $0.00. In and out in 20min. Added benefit,about 25% of ppl were masked ( which is high % for our area). Recommend trying Costco
@candice_counsel
@RubyMcrae
When my father died, after a year or so, my mother, ( then about 79 ), met a few suitors at the retirement home. One, she seemed interested in. We, children, asked, if she might marry again.. She scoffed, “No! Who wants to take care of another man?”
@DebHolloway
I am so sorry, Deborah. This is my greatest fear, a HAI ( especially C.). My bIL( physician) had a c induced stroke. Months after infection. Sister( NP)reluctantly, admitted to me.your H has a private room, thankfully .And you, as an advocate. Hoping for the best 💕
@PCAdams1950
People " survive" the acute infection. Think it was just " a really heavy cold". They do not associate symptoms that appear weeks or months later, with that infection. And PTB, media, HC providers, do not suggest the them that there is a correlation. Dooming us
@MeetJess
What needs to happen to stop this madness? Hybrid immunity is nonexistent. We need mask mandates, and improved indoor ventilation. It’s not so difficult
@nickiykwim
@qldhealth
@4cytePathology
The insouciance of medical workers stymies me. They at least, presumably, studied some science in school. How are they so effectively gaslighted as well? To ignore and dismiss airborne transmission? And dismiss patients’ ( very valid) concerns?
@Guiness_Pig
The John Snow project. The "don't breathe it in" film even got through to my husband...who otherwise doesn't think it a current concern. He said if they ran it on mainstream TV, it would have a big effect. People don't understand "airborne"
@1goodtern
I think they want it , so that they feel, themselves better on their trip. They don’t care if they spread it to others. As one COVID + traveler tweeted, “ after all, no one can trace it to me”
@DonEford
Just posted mine;
We need continued surveillance of waste water to keep track of COVID-19 in our communities. Governments have dismantled most reporting of COVID cases - I believe- so that the public is unaware of the continuance of the pandemic , so they do not panic, 1/3
@RageSheen
How about the Florida judge, who ended masking mandates on planes? Many people have been infected, spread infections, or died since this decision was made. ( 96% of planes carry C+ passengers) .She should be locked up.
@TRyanGregory
Hosts. Aka, people. Who continue to travel, work, go to restaurants, etc., when sick, or even , unknowingly, asymptomatic. Shedding invisible viral particles. Makes me want to avoid ALL people, since you can’t know who is infected. : (
@1goodtern
@DebHolloway
It's why I left hospitality. 3 staff outbreaks in the last 18 months I was there. I wore kn94 over a N95. Still novid. None of co-workers, wore masks.ALL of them got C. Some two or 3 times
@HarrySpoelstra
Someday,will b recognized Alzheimer’s,Parkinson’s/other neuro disorders,R caused by sequelae of viral infections.Future(medical)historians will B surprised,how we ignored evidence,4many years.Suppose a blessing,that those w/dementia,R not aware of it.But sad 4those of us who C it
@MeetJess
@MaryFernando_
This is heartbreaking. These kind of stories, will continue, sadly. As the head of the WHO said, we are headed for a mass disabling event. And none of us protest. Except on Twitter.. which is ineffective?…
With repeated infections and waning immunity, a majority (80%+) of the planet will ultimately suffer from organ damage/long COVID.
Great article based on both scientific research and mathematical modeling, a 🧵 1/
@sylvia_a_fuller
Your N95, will probably Protect you. I worked in hospitality, with unmasked People, from all over the world. In close proximity. Some, visably sick. Wore two masks.never got COVID. Hoping for a quick, and uneventful recovery for you
@1goodtern
Any cold , in the past , almost killed me, with secondary infections. Always bronchitis, last time pneumonia. Almost always, after flying. Haven’t been sick since 2020. Wear masks, everywhere. Never flying again, unless there are masking requirements on all public transportation
@MLS_Dave
“We are going to be reinfected, the same way we are reinfected by flu. ..”she said. ?? Since when has anyone been reinfected by the flu, 5 times in 3 years? Ffs
@John_woodward1
We are all, on “ death row”. None of us know the date we will be “ convicted “. Am hoping that I am as brave as you, when my time comes. Wishing you as many good days, as possible.
@JPWeiland
Many people I know, are sick right now. “ terrible colds”. Nobody tests. Wastewater data is all we really have. And in most places, has been showing the beginning of an “ uptick “, for the last few weeks…
@fitterhappierAJ
@mrmickme
Yikes. Actually wondering, how so many of us, managed to survive, so long. Thinking that C, will shut the door on longevity. Without humanity noticing, apparently.
@ArleenBBoyd
@DrEricDing
Just read today, that most people get “ colds”, 2-3x/ year. This is considered, “ normal”. I used to get colds, maybe 2x/ year- my whole life. Since masking 2020-now,have not been sick, one day.People should stop spreading respiratory illnesses.., stay home,when sick. Wear a mask
@MeetJess
Whatever this awfully infection is, plane travel spreads it. Laurie Garrett nailed it in her prescient 1990 book, “ the coming plague”. I rue the awful judge in Florida, who banned masking on planes. Only expedited our collective demise
@chelseacuzzocr4
@chantz_y
Socialization,is overrated,in an airborne pandemic.With 100k fights /day, delivering C+ passengers, carrying new variants,to populations,all over the world.Never happened b4, in world history. Travel was limited, historically,and slow. Why we will never emerge from this pandemic
@fitterhappierAJ
@Michael59503746
This is so insane. How are most people ignoring this? Appalling . It will be harder to keep avoiding infection ( still Novid)- but can this could change, anytime. Especially, if we HAVE to go to the dentist: (
@M8Void
I have hopes that the world will wake up at some point? Perhaps when LC can no longer be ignored ( when virtually everyone has it). Maybe 5 years?
@Michael59503746
What kills me is a DR wanting respect 4”people’s *choices*about masking+their *relative risks*. How does 1 determine *risk* where no 1 is testing 2attend event(like Davos),U R indoors,sharing airs w/100s of ppl, w/no mitigations?1M ppl/day in US contract C. 1M ppl/day guess wrong
@greg_travis
Recommend the Canadian series “ unspeakable “ on this very subject. Many parallels to how PH ignores the dangers of infection/ reinfection with Covid. And how “ lay people” ( relatives/ friends of hemophiliacs) forced change. Albeit, slowly
@1goodtern
My husband compares the COVID issue to “ invasion of the body snatchers”. Just let it happen.. don’t fight it. Be one of us… We are going to do our best to not fall asleep…
@drclairetaylor
Dr. Clair. What you have to say is important.. but can you simplify your observations, for those that are not in academia? Simplifying your observations, would be most helpful 💕
@healingfromlc
A hundred years from now, ( if we are still here), people reading the history of the world’s response to Covid, will be appalled. Rightly so. I am appalled, now.
@salamasinamusic
No one, says anything. Perhaps , when symptoms are too difficult to ignore, they MIGHT say something? My family, says “ they are under the weather”, or “ have an awful summer cold”… C is never mentioned . Ever.
@salamasinamusic
Idk. I have given up. I really don’t trust anyone, anymore. I don’t want to get C, no one else cares if they get it, or give it to others.
@MCM54321
I have concluded, that humans are, sadly, not very bright, really, and are easily led. Social media only enhances the ease in which "leaders", accomplish this.Those of us who push back/resist, are few.Too few, to make a difference (except for attempting to protect our own lives)
@DiaryofaSickGrl
@Squijibo
I suspect, it depends on how much a disability affects others? With a wheelchair, takes some accommodations…glasses? Doesn’t affect others. Sad, but most people don’t want to be “ troubled.”. Perhaps we are not the best species on the planet
@1goodtern
Worked in hospitality, 2020-2022. Saw 1k tourists , from all over the world, daily. Some were obviously, sick. I wore two masks. After the third staff c outbreak, in 14months, quit. Knew I was just rolling the dice
@NeejaB
Just awful. And I was under the mistaken impression that Canadians were nicer than Americans. I am so sorry to read this. Humans disappoint me. I prefer dogs. or even spiders: ) . and I hate spiders

My friends/ family who died, were not unhealthy. Their issues, were caused by Covid infections. Can happen, to anyone. May your friends and family, continue to stay safe 💕
@JessicaLexicus
My sister, an NP, joked that if she was hit by a car, just to leave her in the street,,. She would take her chances there, rather than be taken to hospital. We laughed. Told this story to doctors I waited on, over the years..they all thought the story was hilarious. So…
@NjbBari3
History,( if we are still here), will vindicate us. My only solace ( except for trying to remain alive, and healthy, for as long as possible. )
@MeetJess
Maybe, just require masking. And buy a few effient HEPA filters. I would offer to buy a HEPA filter for your non- profit, if you start to require masking
@CovidintheChart
people don’t want to think that they “ have cooties”. Since kindergarten. Many, today, do, sadly. Don’t think that we are very bright, as a species.
@sublimepilgrim
@Iberia_en
Don’t you think that there would be a market for some airlines to offer some masked only flights- with all potential passengers/ crew having to pass a PCR test prior to boarding? I would pay more and actually travel again
@MeetJess
Thanks for sharing, Jess. Stopped reading when author “ gave a nod to “ immunity debt”, but at least they are making some important points for the general public
@MCM54321
It is difficult 2 see.virtually everyone I Know, ignores C. Most I know, have been infected, multiple times.Some w/serious consequences,some died. bc viruses are invisible+the media ignores C,things slowly disintegrate-but mostly out of sight.A slow burn,which continues,unnoticed
@Iamjacksdisgust
@Riseandshine_2
You r not alone.There are many of us, in same position.was brave,the June dinner.I’d have been frightened,counting off the days after the dinner,4 possible infection.If infected people didn’t go out,in public,wouldn’t worry so much.But they do.They don’t want to “miss things”.
@LauraMiers
@hotty_antifa
I’m so sorry , Laura. Can you join a LC study at a university near you? Here, in California, some report improvement with long term paxlovid treatment at the LC clinics….
@MeetJess
Two years, when the study ended. They should reinvestigate, in 3 years. Then, (suspect), they will say that the blood markers, persist , for 5 years. The virus persists, in everyone infected, I suspect. Time will tell
@helenaddy
Have a very good, lifelong friend.. who became a hari Krishna, almost 50 years ago. They ( she) believes, that there are millions of planets.. and that earth,is one of the “ lowest”, unenlightened planets. Used to laugh.., no longer laughing
@RadCentrism
Just awful. No words. There are many of us, who feel as you do. Sadly, we are on our own. We are playing the long game. We will be vindicated.. in the next two- 5 years. Stay the course. Keep wearing your n95. With solidarity- Susan
