So @Waterstones have sacked someone for standing up to a racist, fascist, TERF author ( @CV_Dalcher ) whose Twitter timeline retweets Peter Sweden and praises Marine le Pen? Wow. Great company PR. If you think the employee made you look bad...

@walt_man @MartinPilgrim1 But how do you all +know+? How come it's never 'a really old-looking car' followed by a fuller description of the car, it's always a model and an exact year, as if we all carry a car auction catalogue in our heads? Do you all get a test on this every year or something?

@swansonian I had a revelation recently, when I realised that the reason Americans will tell you that they're Irish or Italian or whatever when THEY'RE AMERICAN is because they actually mean 'Irish-American' or 'Italian-American', the but the American bit to them is a given.

@Baddiel The journalists asking questions really were very, very bad. You hardly needed the skills of a top lawyer to take the obvious lies apart. You just needed to ask questions based on what he'd just said, instead of the question you'd thought up earlier and were determined to use.

@msfosterteaches @heawood @dazeycheyne That would be the reason my nephew's report often had 'her' instead of 'him' in it. Really makes you feel valued. My primary school reports were handwritten by a teacher who clearly cared, but who also had the time and didn't have bollocks like fronted adverbials to worry about.

@ChristopherMars @JimMFelton I didn't go in a McDonald's until I was about 13 because I grew up in West Cornwall, but I still knew what it +was+. We had adverts and stuff. I'm starting to think this person's parents kept them in the cellar. Might explain the hose as well.

In all the dystopias I read about when I was younger there was never one where everyone in charge was so bleeding thick.

@_Cqlo @dagreb @johndowgin @JoParkerBear @markedly I'm never quite sure what 'American exceptionalism' means, but apparently to some Americans it means that you get your own queue.

@glosswitch @MooseAllain Oh! Someone told me she worked for a charity and a family called Hoare (not sure of the spelling) were big donors. So at a fancy fundraising do she heard herself say to a generous benefactor, "Oh, are you a Hoare?"

@Baroness_Nichol You saw someone just going about their life and you had to tell the whole world about it +for attention+.

@LBC @lewis_goodall Nice to hear this actually being recognised. Makes a change from every single politician every single time only ever talking about families, as if nobody else has to pay rent and buy food.

@AndrePC82 @helen_barnowl @KatieWeasel @SethRol05972053 So taking a frail 100 year old man on a long-haul flight during a global pandemic with no vaccine is fine because when he was in his 20s he was in the army? Also you think this is funny? I tried to keep my elderly relatives safe at the time, not being a psycho.

@krishgm No, because my plans are to stay at home all by myself, and have Christmas dinner over Skype with my Mum, who will also be all by herself. I'm not relaxing the rules over Christmas because the virus doesn't know it's Christmas.

It's really not OK that I know who's +really+ trending every time Billie Piper is trending. Why don't you all just call her Oflaurence?
