Clearly terribly sad, but also terribly irresponsible by the parents. Thatโs the thing though now isnโt it, everything is someone elseโs fault. ๐คฆ๐ปโโ๏ธ
@Dr_BellaR
Donโt know the circumstances, but posting like this on Instagram is the height of unprofessional in my view, not to mention grossly disrespectful in this particular case. Itโs sadly not an isolated occurrence either.
@DrHaystax
Absolutely. Good for you, I highly doubt theyโd say something so dismissive if you were a male. Disappointing that this is still very much an issue in 2024.
@wethefreople
@Garmin
Ridiculous. Their service works seamlessly 99% of the time, this is just a small blip. Honestly, if people are โlosing itโ over something like this, then they really need to sit down and reassess their life.
@Nito_Onna_Helen
@HiltonHotels
Following this with interest Helen. Absolutely appalling behaviour by Hilton and their poor customer service is definitely not isolated to that location either! Hope youโre ok.
@KugaCop
Theyโre paid appallingly and often resource materials out of of their own pocket. Iโm also in the public sector and unable to strike, but that doesnโt mean I think theyโre wrong for doing so. I know who I blame, and itโs not the teachers.
@Euriboring
@layton_winter
Itโs a UK flag being flown in the UK; I lived in Germany for a long time, national flags are everywhere (and rightly so). There will always be lunatics on the fringes attempting to misrepresent, but to me, our flag represents British values - of which we should be very proud.
@jasonryanmd
I think thereโs value for young people who can gain an insight into career paths within medicine (and other areas) that are often unheard of.
@SC__Dan
No surprise coming from a patently anti-police PCC and Mayor. Iโd personally like to see this implemented for those that hold the some of the highest offices in the land as MPs. Khan is an absolute thorn in the side of London policing.
@metpoliceuk
In a country where we award MBEโs to FedEx Delivery drivers, Iโd like to hope that these two receive appropriate recognition. ๐๐ป
@MelissaAReed
Disappointing to see Melissa. Perhaps a one off error of judgement, perhaps not; either way itโs very unprofessional. Hope youโre ok! ๐๐ฌ๐ง
@Brutonsttailor
@NorthWestCop
I disagree, most people work very hard to go on long haul flights etc and should be able to enjoy that experience responsibly. Itโs about time people were held to account a little more though and this seems to be a particular issue amongst my fellow Brits.
@stewie_griffi10
@Random_met_cop
I disagree. Like in the Armed Forces, where gym facilities are provided this should also be common place across the emergency services. The jobs within require individuals to be robust and physically capable, this should be promoted and encouraged by the employer to benefit all.
@themetskipper
Exactly. From an external perspective, I think this is the acknowledgement that the public want to see. Accepting these facts doesnโt remove the widely agreed view that UK policing is a shining example to the rest of the world.
@Foxtrot_Cop
An old clip, but a good one. This robust parenting is what is desperately lacking in the UK, for a variety of reasons. As a parent who sees the influence poorly behaved children can have in their peer group, I'd make parenting classes mandatory if it was up to me.
@DrEilidhMaria
As we all know, PAโs are here to stay, but 32k after all the work involved in becoming a Doctor is next level appallingโฆ The public definitely (falsely) assume that Drs at all levels are rolling in it ๐ฐ ๐ฐ ๐ฐ.
We should also take a moment today to recognise the bravery of
@Johncrill1
. I feel his actions on that day, and background, epitomise a lot of what the UK stands for; justice, fairness and proportionality.
1/3 Late next year weโll be welcoming physician associates and anaesthesia associates into regulation. Regulation will help to increase the contribution they can make to UK healthcare, while keeping patients safe.
@AmyOverend
I hope you are ok! Incredibly proud to hear the positives in relation to our extensive PHEC and secondary healthcare systems. We are a shining beacon to world, despite the challenges. ๐ฌ๐ง๐ฌ๐ง๐ฌ๐ง
@Dr_BellaR
Iโve been saying this for years. I feel like UK residents are brainwashed into thinking weโre some amazing place to be. Attitudes here are extremely pessimistic, thereโs zero sense of community for the most part, thereโs atrocious levels of racism and crap weather to top it off.
The 7 July attacks on London took place 19 years ago today. Innocent people going about their daily activity, life stolen by evil. Never forget. ๐ฌ๐ง
@DrNeenaJha
The question is though, how does one come from (in the vast majority of cases) a AHP background, then go on to complete a PGDip or MSc in PA studies and not know this. Itโs basicsโฆ ๐คฆ๐ปโโ๏ธ Something is very wrong, or, thereโs some inaccurate โreportingโ.
@AVintenAuthor
@CityPolice
The mind absolutely boggles as to why anyone would want to represent their employer on Social Media unless they intended on being *absolutely* beyond reproach. The lack of foresight and emotional intelligence is a concern.
@HealthRegLawyer
Glad to hear this Andrea! Have you ever watched the video for nervous flyers on
@British_Airways
? Itโs wonderful. I used some of what I learned from that to speak with someone on a US domestic a little while back who was really distressed. ๐
@thegradmedic
Yep, the product of electing individuals that have very, very minimal lived experience of public service or real life in general. The general public must become more engaged in the affairs of the country.
@thehouseofpod
How utterly irresponsible by the manufacturer, and a clear lack of legal controls in place to prohibit these dangerous products from retail. I donโt think anything like that would make it to UK stores!
@jdeerobertson
Yes - Catching organised burglars and car thieves in my area on a regular basis, engaging with young people, putting on community events, reassuring the community. Keeping my family safe while weโre asleep at night time... Come to think of it, what would you do without them? ๐ง
@_Kano_P
@Defencebrief
With the caveat of being on the outside looking in: Agreed. If youโre volunteering, youโre volunteering for the rules that come with it, the same as a volunteer in any other organisation does! In my opinion, projecting a wholly professional image is vital in this vol role.
@west_response
MPโs should have to attend at least one observer shift as part of their appointment, then I donโt think weโd see so many issues with resourcing police. Absolutely agree.
@oli_m_sims
@J_bagpuss
Accurate. Unfortunately, globally, the public donโt understand the various skill sets of HCPs / Practitioners and are generally โstarstruckโ by the title โDoctorโ.
@supertanskiii
@RishiSunak
I'm absolutely appalled to see the government associating themselves with this man. The social media team really need to sit down and reflect on the inappropriateness of that whole message.
@MichaelC7389
And what were this former post womanโs academic credentials? Youโre suggesting she walked off the street as a Royal Mail worker and became a PA, which is just not the case.

The problem is, people wonโt know where to draw the line; before you know it the domino effect will be in full swing. Stay home, ride out the storm. โ ๐ฆ ๐ช๐ป

Oh no! This is one of those news stories where you really hope theyโve got it wrong. I feel awkward wearing my own, (albeit very rare to have the opportunity) I couldnโt imagine wearing someone elseโs! ๐
@CrimeGirI
Once again, the root cause is gun control or rather the lack of it. If firearms were largely off the streets, they wouldn't be so on edge. This however, is disgraceful and what makes it even worse is the lack of any attempt to render care. Completely, utterly disproportionate.
@SaraTon08500527
I donโt agree with everything Eilidh says, but it all makes for interesting discussion. I really value the differences in opinions across MedTwitter. Not too sure how personal attacks can really frame the AHP community in a positive light. ๐ฌ
@SaraTon08500527
Iโm fed up with engaging with them - the worst offenders know theyโre conducting themselves inappropriately, otherwise they wouldnโt post from anon accounts. Maybe if access to medicine wasnโt such a shambles in the UK, this wouldnโt be a thing.
@nohandsup
@BBCRadio4
Also, the irony isnโt lost in the fact that these people articulate anecdotes as if they are fact while giving their โreasonsโ why degrees arenโt required. ๐คฏ๐คฏ๐คฏ
@thegradmedic
Sadly, I think itโs going to take years for your profession to enable the public to understand that Doctor, at least in the UK, doesnโt = $$$$$$. Reading the various threads this week about conditions in Australia vs here though is truly eye opening!
@SteveBarclay
.
Iโve just seen
@BBCNews
mistakenly refer to a male Nurse as a โWard Sisterโ rather than โCharge Nurseโ. Looking at the bigger picture, surely in 2022 itโs about time we scrapped these gender specific titles that only serve to discourage males from this rewarding career.
@theRCN
@daniel_barnett
100% . His reasoning is ludicrous, direct him to the evidence. How we have all become so ill informed in a time where everything is at the touch of a button is beyond me. ๐คฏ

This is the side of the Police that more of the public need to see! Those who have not had the opportunity to spend considerable time overseas do not appreciate the professionalism, and hard work, that goes on behind the scenes in the UK.
Scott today attended a very unwell patient. He cycled through the office, into the lift to the 5th floor and straight to the patients side. From 999 call to him treating was minutes! 75kg of lifesaving kit to the patients side!
