My boy has been really poorly over the last few weeks. (Pneumonia) He was discharged from the vets yesterday and he won’t leave my side 😢. I’m in the garage cleaning and checking my cop car and I’ve had to bring him in to stop him barking in the house! Loyalty beyond belief.

Getting lots of requests for updates on Murphy’s condition. Thank you for all your well wishes and concerns. In 13 years he has never been on the furniture but tonight I’ve lifted him onto the couch next to me, he is very listless but comfortable. Taking it one day at a time. 🤞

The announcement today of a 0% pay increase for police officers is quite frankly an insult and wholly unacceptable. Pay aside, this indicates a complete lack of awareness, appreciation or recognition for the incredible work officers have done throughout this pandemic.

Over the weekend a Northants officer was forced to the ground and strangled to the point that they nearly lost consciousness. Due to the size of the offender, strikes proved ineffective, PAVA was also ineffective. Thank goodness his colleague had Taser, which saved his life.

On March 11th this year Sgt Paul Keany reported for duty in his role of custody sergeant. He sadly collapsed and died whilst at work. Yesterday Paul’s mum and sister called into the custody suite and deliver these wonderful gifts, thank you so much 😔 We will never forget him. 💙

Sad that you feel that way but for accuracy we had 3 motorcyclist, including myself, assisting keeping the pack safe and the traffic moving. One officer was on a rest day and came in (no pay) myself and the other officer completed the duty before our normal working day started.

Quick recap - three weeks ago a 15 year old child threw boiling water over two of my officers, disfiguring one of them for life. The demand for a ban on the use of them on children is naive and doesn’t take into account the dangers some children pose on the public and police.

2/2 I visited the officer at the University Hospital Coventry. She is now expected to make a full recovery from 3 broken vertebrae, broken neck, broken ribs and 3 bleeds on the brain. Our @NHSuk really are incredible. I could have cried listening to her talk this afternoon. 👏👏

So incredibly proud: Sgt Dave Cayton from @NorthantsPolice has won the Regional Bravery Award for his remarkable actions. Despite having been shot in the face, several times, he continued to tackle and arrest his attacker, protecting two elderly persons at risk. So well deserved.

Please stick to the speed limits and drive carefully though our county. On my way into work yesterday morning this motorist overtook me at 105mph, was followed at this speed for two miles before the lights (literally) came on! No excuses!

Tomorrow is the 6th anniversary of the loss of Nicola and Fiona. As ever, I will be thinking of them and of Bryn, Sue, Sam, Paul, June, Vicky, Claire and Jessie. My regret and sadness is as deep, as raw and as real as it was on that fateful day. Sleep peacefully- never forgotten.

Cheers Craig. 580 people killed on the roads from January to June 2021 and 10,730 seriously injured. You have to agree that we (police and other agencies) must work hard to reduce this? You are more likely to be killed or injured on the road than from any other crime incident.

Watch as this VW Golf overtakes my vehicle at 95mph, in a 40 limit, then accelerates to over 100mph in a 50 mph limit. Bad enough but with a 17 month old baby in the back- unforgivable!!! Off to court and hopefully a substantial ban for the 21 year old female driver! #fatal4

Just had word that all Northants officers are back home safe and sound from an incredible policing operation in London and Windsor. “I counted them all out and I counted them all back”. An incredible example of how the many forces across the UK work in unison for public safety.

Two police officers are assaulted every single day in Northamptonshire and violence towards them is increasing. This is one of the reasons that I decided to issue Taser to every front line officer. I will be talking more about this on @BBCNorthampton at 08:00am.

It may be coming home tomorrow but the question is - are you? Officers have had their duties changed to ensure we have plenty on duty to tackle domestic abuse and anti social behaviour, both are matters of priority for our force. Lets make sure we are all coming home tomorrow. 🥅
