In today’s life in GP, was admonished for going to the toilet by a patient as she was “in the waiting room waiting to see me” & “I unnecessarily delayed her”. I’ll remember to catheterize before work tomorrow to overcome that issue! 🤷🏼‍♀️

@nursekelsey Thank goodness she’s ok! Surf lifesaving Australia did research on it & yes Hot pink was the most visible colour, followed by bright orange I think. Nippers (junior surf lifesaving participants) now wear pink rashies when they enter the water….

Morning dog walk punctuated by a distressed mum running from her house with a Bub with a partially obstructed airway from a foreign object…assess Bub …calm & pink when prone, cyanosed & stridor upright…no heroics needed & ambulance response within minutes! Eventful 🐶walk!

They often glare at me in consults if I say to an anxious teen “ATARS aren’t everything!”

@GailDianne1 @ketaminh We keep 4 appts per Dr per day for “urgents” & fit sick ppl in. Have closed to new pts to try to look after those we have. A week for a routine appt. Frustrating to have “no shows” (3 on Fri despite SMS reminder) that’s 3 more pts I could’ve seen.

Today in GP the joys of the MBS, where you spend over an hour sorting out a patients needs via Telehealth (including chasing up results & organising interventions) but because you are compassionate & they are a pensioner & it’s not Covid related, the max MBS rebate is $39.75

Lots of talk this weekend about rugby referees. Meanwhile Amy Perrett travels to the NSW 7’s at Foster & gives the young referees her World Rugby refs shirts. As they don’t get paid to ref these tournaments (other than accomodation & a meal) that was something really special.

Hubby just witnessed a near drowning, a surfer shot across to assist, or the guy was gone…guy walked straight into a deep channel on an unpatrolled beach, in the evening & within seconds had been whipped out…reading a beach & rips, essential Aussie education!

It was such a special interaction, as although it definitely informed him, what it actually taught him was never be afraid to ask an expert! He’s now an honours student!

I know it’s obvious I’m pretty proud of my kids, but #1 son who is a rugby ref, has been at paid work since 5.30am & has turned around to support the young referees officiating tonight’s Fri night comp grand finals….as he said, ppl did it for me, that’s how I got where I am!

The fact that no billing provisions are made for delivering Covid vaccine to those unable to visit the surgery is hardly a surprise!
