Operating at 39 weeks 🤰 is not badass. Doing your on call shift from a labour bed immediately post-partum is not applaudable. Forgoing your two weeks of parental leave as the non-birthing parent is not dedication. These are signs that medical training is failing new parents.

@mrthomasjacques @schadhayes @shaheenkhazali Slightly disagree. Would still be problematic, but 60% of O&G's are female, there is no patient advocate on the panel & there's a long history of male gynaecologists disbelieving female patients and a gendered power imbalance that makes this Manel even worse.

When we applaud this we create an environment where jnrs feel like a failure if they are unable or unwilling to do the same. We open those who choose not to, to criticism for being weak. And we see people (mostly women) who don't want to do this say "Maybe surgery isn't for me"

Yesterday we were told that being a doctor isn't an achievement, it's just generational wealth. So @inaki_uhi have decided to quit medicine, move to Lennox Head and wait for our generational wealth to arrive.

Given I had midwives messaging me whilst I was heavily pregnant, wishing me birth trauma to prove their point that "IOLs are bad", because I chose an elective induction at 39 weeks. I am unsurprised by the contents of this thread

I cannot recommend Rupinder and Panache Haute Couture in Seven Hills highly enough. It was lovely to be able to incorporate my husband's Chilean heritage into the dress and roses have a particular significance to me and to our relationship.

My god. Hilton doubling down in tomorrow’s @thetimes - calling sexual misconduct “trivial”. The fact he refers to women as “girls” speaks volumes.

It's our last weekend together in our home. Joining the rural surgery diaspora as we head to the city to further our careers. Already counting down the years until we can return, hopefully both as FRACS ☺️
