Other new-for-the-cycle insight: if fund is high conviction in your market, they've talked to your customers before the 1st mtg. It took probably 3-4 firms telling me they did already before my gut reaction wasn’t oh-no-you-f*&$ing-didn't. Now I think it’s a good thing.

Founders: lots of founders/EEs invest out of own funds (rolling or other) and so won't be able to come into your RUV. So even for $100K checks, prepare your legal for that, and do some of the sig pack/closing volume emailing for them, so lawyers focus on getting round closed.

This is all possible because of (1) Writer’s incredibly innovative AI team and (2) not taking shortcuts with data. The models is efficient to host, too. Because customers can self-host, including Palmyra X, it's important that it can be run on a single node with high inference.

Palmyra X scored FIRST in MMLU (60.9%), BoolQ (89.6%), NaturalQuestions (79.0%), Question Answering in Context (49.7%), and TruthfulQA (61.6%). Palmyra outperformed models by OpenAI, Cohere, Anthropic, Microsoft :)

REALLY importantly for us — and not captured in the HELM scores — is how efficiently our team was able to train the model. Palmyra X is trained on less than a single MWh — 1000x more efficiently than larger models — AND got better results :)
