47 years ago today, my father escaped Iraq disguised as a 16-year old boy (he was 23). He fled to Syria, and then to Lebanon, and from there applied for a visa from the @RedCross to make his way to @Columbia for residency. He has never had the chance to go back to Iraq.

My favorite moment so far was @deenashakir joking that she’s not trying to pull to Rihanna but she’s having baby #3 in a few months. Congrats!!!! (Fun fact: the external Co-chairs of #fortunehealth were both pregnant while organizing this event. That’s gotta be a first).

my whole family (3 brothers and SIL, my parents and my kids) just reunited IRL for the first time since winter 2019. as we celebrate eid together, i’m feeling so grateful for our own health and safety and so very weary about about so much. 💔🇵🇸🇮🇳🌎
