I’m going to push back on that. I was violently assaulted at the hotel of an NIH-sponsored conference as a new PI. For many reasons, I didin't discuss this openly-I imagine others act similarly. I think these incidents happen more than we, as a field, collectively acknowledge.

I am so excited and very proud of @rodriguez_lion for unanimous pass on his dissertation defense today. Lionel's thesis has looked at how inputs from basolateral amygdala to the lateral septum regulate BDNF-TrkB signaling in septal neurons to control social behavior.

My mom ran our local planned parenthood when I was a kid. There were threats and slurs, and I sometimes asked why she had to do that job. I remember her explaining why she did it, what was before, and promising that bc of Roe we’d never go back. I can’t believe this is happening.

So much lab love for the septum lately. Kudos to @SvitlanaBach and @JohnsHopkins undergrad Yufeng Du for anatomical validation in this region - surprisingly hard to find in human brain. Medial septum - marked by ELAVL2+ neurons,🟡with tracts - MBP, 🟢 #FluorescenceFriday
