It is scientifically unsound for you (and @hubermanlab ) to claim that oral L-Tyrosine increases brain dopamine. The rate limiting step for production of dopamine is tyrosine hydroxylase, not tyrosine, hence why individuals with Parkison's Disease are given L-Dopa, not L-Tyrosine
@jackmoses0

L-Tyrosine L-Tyrosine is an amino acid required for the production of dopamine. You can get tyrosine from chicken, turkey, fish, peanuts, and avocados. But supplementing it will provide even greater benefits. @hubermanlab supplements L-Tyrosine. I suggest you do too.

Disappointing experience at @TheBSCCP ASM. As a mother unable to leave baby at home, publicly taken aside and made to feel very unwelcome by senior committee member. “We don’t want to set a precedent.“ they said. Such a shame that working parents must still endure this in 2019.

I’ve been in academia 30+ years and TBH I am yet to meet a man who thinks they were chosen to give a talk or receive an award because they are men. They all think they deserve it. So fellow women, accept the invitation simply because you deserve it.

I may not be #SfN22 but my book KETAMINE made it. Go check it out @mitpress booth 3001 It is really a nice read, if I may say so 🤓, especially if you like history of psychopharmacology and drug development

Dear PIs: uncertainty is a terrible stressor for trainees. Be flexible and thoughtful. That experiment that has to stop can get done later. Think about all the experiments that didn't work, and put #COVID19 -induced lack of data generation in that category! #AcademicChatter

This is the product of a research culture that has, for decades, equated hanging mice by their tail to "depression" or giving bored mice access to drugs to "addiction." Interesting that some in psychedelic field are of the sudden raising concerns about precise use of terminology

I’m sorry, but I think we need to be more precise with our terms. “Psychedelic-like”[meaning “revealing/manifesting the psyche”] effects on neuronal growth when administered on cortical cultures”…. Is a statement that does not make sense….

Is ketamine's rapid antidepressant effects mediated by serotonin? Here is a classic paper showing that ketamine, independent of its (popular) actions on NMDA receptors, robustly enhances serotonin levels in the prefrontal cortex by inhibiting SERT

Events of today were traumatic for the American democracy but let’s not lose sight of the fact that the state of Georgia, home state of John Lewis and Dr King, just elected a Black man and a Jewish man to @USSenate

Based on our exhaustive research, scientists will be more successful by choosing mentors and/or mentees whose last name starts with 'B'. Wondering where I could submit this...

#MyNameIs Bita بيتا pronounced Bee-tah My mother picked my name before I was born In Persian it means incomparable, unique, unlike another My name connects me to my sister Mahta (Máh-tah) meaning beautiful like moon & my daughter Anahita (Ãna-he-tah) the goddess of water

Many of us try to pay our lab members more but our institutions do not allow it. Heaven knows I have spent so much time in recent years to get approval to pay postdocs and my other lab staff more and my requests have been repeatedly denied by HR

I really want to see more tenured profs fighting to improve job prospects & salaries for post-docs, instead of explaining why they can’t (or won’t) pay/mentor us more. What good is tenure if you’re not using your privilege & job security to help your most vulnerable employees??
