I don't understand how my own party
@UKLabour
can talk about divisive nationalism from Celtic countries in the UK and then pull a stunt like this.
Celebrate yes, call England "Our" team and you alienate members and voters in other UK countries.
So the emergency message in Wales told everyone to Cadwch yn Vogel (Stay in Vogel) rather than Cadwch yn ddiogel
(Stay safe).
I think we've just been told to take a massive hike as a nation...
A leader of a United Kingdom needs to be able to respect cultures of all countries within it.
Even the king tried to learn Welsh as prince.
This is actually quite disgusting.
My middle son turned 13 on Friday. Yesterday he decided he wanted to start protesting and came to the

Thoughts on 20mph speed limits.
I live in one of the pilot areas for 20mph. My town and local area has been 20mph for over a year.
This is our experience.....
1/?
The anti-20mph debate is foul. It's not based on reason, just vitriol.
I am getting 100s of messages and the majority of the anti - 20mph are... well here's a typical example
I have some very confused tweeps on my timeline who can't get their heads around Wales having its own government that isn't answerable to residents of England.
Sorry Butt, signing that Welsh Government petition with a BS postcode isn't valid. It's just not your government.
A year later and we are still here, driving slower, with a safer town.
The take home? Speed limit changes create a stink for about six weeks, because change is a difficult process. After that, most of us are adjusted and it works well. It's worth the change for the safety.

I am delighted to have been selected as the Labour County Council Candidate for Caldicot Castle Ward.
I am looking forward to campaigning in my home ward.
I have two degrees. I am the only person in my family that has been to university. I went to a school in a valleys regeneration area. I am *exactly* the kind of person that Rishi Sunak would like to stop from gaining a higher education. This is class oppression.
Sorry but dropping a standing Welsh female MP for a couple of English lads who have no experience of devolution looks like the worst level of elitism going. NEC messed this up badly.
As
@GeraintDaviesMP
standing down in Swansea West, I hope
@WelshLabour
will seize the opportunity to nominate the excellent
@BethWinterCynon
whose seat disappeared in the boundary changes. Her track record standing up for Wales unparalleled
After around 6 weeks, we found change *had* occurred.
Driving was slower. People knew and understood the limits were 20.
No cars died. No complaints about clutches. No road rage. Generally safer streets where I am more confident that my kids can go to school.
BBC Cymru news front page vs BBC Wales news front page. It looks like news in two different countries. What's going on here? Beth sy'n bod yma? Ydyn ni'n un gwlad?

Today's Constituonal Commission report is clear. Devolution as it stands is not good enough for Wales. We need and deserve better. Long term, Independence is the solution.
Don't believe me? Read it yourself.

I have started to receive hate mail to my council email address over this.
Some of it is very confused.
None of it is pleasant.
I don't know what to say really ..... How can anyone be so angry about a name? I think it would be lovely for our culture and heritage to use Cymru.
Officially just voted for myself. I am the only candidate running for county council in the ward that can vote for themselves. The others have to vote elsewhere. Vote for someone who lives here in Caldicot Castle today.

With 2 of our national parks reverting to the Cymraeg only names, Eryri & Bannau Brycheiniog, isn't it also time to drop Anglesey & only use the original name Ynys Môn? Nearly 60% of the population of Ynys Môn are Cymraeg speakers, so this really shouldn't be an issue
@cyngormon
Just received an all parent email from the acting head teacher of our elder sons' school stating he wants the school to be the "best in the Principality"
He's going to need to brush up on his History, Geography, Cymraeg & Curriculum for Wales pretty quickly then!

I am so very disappointed to hear our town's only senior school is planning to drop Welsh as an A level subject. It's an huge part of our cultural heritage and there is nowhere else for miles for the students who want to study Welsh.

Call on the Government now to stop the sell-off of Channel 4, and protect it from any future privatisation and political interference by ensuring the British public – not politicians – decide its future. 👇
At first, for around 6 weeks; a lot of people dislike it.
It's change. Change isn't easy. We naturally do not like change. We have been driving at 30mph since we started driving. We know how 30 feels and it's second nature. 20 takes a lower gear and focus like we're learning. 2/?
As far as ignorance goes, telling another country it is virtue signalling by choosing to use its indigenous place names is *up there*.
You didn't say this to Ukraine over Kyiv. Or to the Republic of Türkiye. Why do you think it is OK for Cymru?
It is an England only project. The rest is just accounting and keeping Wales poor and underfunded. It would be a travesty if our party didn't rectify this.
Pressure is mounting on UK Labour to redesignate HS2 as an ‘England-only’ project if the party wins next year’s general election - a decision that could see Wales benefit by billions of pounds. ✍️

There's some interest in my knitting during meetings. My colleague Sara is correct here. Knitting increases my focus, the same way fidget toys do for others. It also helps me cope with pain from sitting with arthritis in my cervical, thoracic & lumbar spine & sacroiliac joints.

It's not about rooting for a team. If it was "Well done England", that would be great. We certainly did the same for Wales in Welsh Labour and I appreciate there is no English Labour.
It's the way it's being treated as the UK team. It's alienating for the rest of the country..
It's worth checking the replies to this. There is some amazing vitriol in response to a young teenager enjoying and exploring his culture and politics.

Why aren't potholes just fixed?
Because councils are underfunded to a degree that they simply can't afford to fix them.
Public finances have, since 2010, been hung out to dry alongside the NHS. We need a better government in Westminster: the UK has been driven into the ground.
Iceland is an excellent model for independence. With a population around a tenth of the size of Wales, it's economy has prospered since independence.
#annibyniaeth
Today we celebrate 78 years of Icelandic independence 🇮🇸. We celebrate living in a society where we enjoy progress and opportunities, independence and freedom, in accordance with our values. This is not to be taken for granted. Gleðilega þjóðhátíð!
We saw genuine anger. People drove up people's backsides, revving and beeping horns. We saw overtaking manoeuvres at higher speeds.
We had complaints about driver behaviour (more than we had about speed limits)
We fed this back to government as an area that needed focus. 3/?
I live with my husband and our 3 sons.
It's very male in our household.
I just changed the name of our family WhatsApp chat to "Garrick Club". I am waiting to see how long it takes for them to chuck me out......
A Labour councillor has been the subject of vile online abuse from social media trolls after she posted a video of her teenage son singing along to Yma O Hyd at a YesCymru March for Independence ✍️.
@EPriceJourno
Yes. That is exactly how national governments work.
This is the kind of mentality that wanted to build a wall in the US and make Mexico pay for it. Which, looking at Wales' funding of HS2, isn't a bad analogy.
Welsh Labour has just voted in favour of Senedd Reform. Proposals adopted to expand Senedd to 90 members will be adopted. It's amazing to have been part of this historic vote.
How is this going to work?
Does the rest of the UK go to work? Or are the majority of nations expected to rejoice at the team of another country winning? It's a very weird proposal.
It’s almost 60 years since England won the World Cup.
I’m never complacent about anything…but there should be a celebratory bank holiday if the Lionesses bring it home.
This is a 🧵
It gives a good indicator of how the conservative party is just trying to stir up our communities, often with influences from outside of Wales, rather than genuinely representing them.
So I have been having a little look at the people who run some of the Welsh anti-20mph Facebook groups.
It seems that many of them a run by Tory politicians.... who live in England....and support 20mph where they live....
Let's go on a journey (at a very safe speed).

Huge congratulations to

the new Chair of Monmouthshire County Council.
I am looking forward to working with you. It's great to see young Labour women set to make a difference in the county.
I don't think I like a democracy where politicians calling out the head of government for lying are sanctioned from parliament and yet little seems to be done about the issue of potential lies.
I am not sure that is a democracy.
Seeing as everyone is resigning, I have resigned my Yes Cymru membership today. Its been staggering along since 2021 but publishing articles deriding organisations that have campaigned for Wales longer than it has existed & demanding they accept toxic politics is too far for me.
In his leadership campaign, Starmer promised to end imposing candidates.
He broke that promise.
The imposition of candidates in Cardiff West & Swansea West cuts local members out of the process.
It is an insult to Party members, an insult to Wales, and an affront to democracy.
Strong words. Unfortunately they are needed. Politicians who capitalise on people's fears and avoid the facts of situations are creating a race to the bottom in politics and are detrimental to our society. We need and deserve better from politicians.
It’s important that in Wales we recognise what the likes of Andrew RT Davies are doing and why. Decent Conservatives – those that are left – shouldn’t tolerate the antics of a Poundland Trump'

@Lab4IndyWales
is clear. Independence and republicanism go hand in hand. Monarchy is an anachronism in our society and would have no role in an independent, democratic Wales.
While YesCymru takes no view on monarchy, it categorically takes a view on the condition of our island home. And that condition is critical.
It's time for Wales to enter the next stage of evolution, as an independent world nation. 🏴
