The Blip/Snap is the most wasted sci-fi scenario ever put to screen. In the hands of a capable screenwriter or director, I think really awesome social commentary and social satire could be created. The MCU has no idea what they have…
"A driver crossing the Mexican border said he was hauling turkey ham, but CBP officers thought it was a bunch of bologna. "
Greatest double entendre in a lede ever?

Bradley Cooper is definitely the biggest name voice actor for me who has completely disappeared into a role. Half the time I forget it’s even him.
@JohnDiLillo
A movie that’s just one big CGI battle with AI-generated dialogue (it doesn’t matter if the dialogue’s bad because it’ll be three straight hours of nerds clapping so you won’t be able to hear it)
@capybaroness
bait take. I saw ATLA and Korra fully into my 20s well after being into, as you’d put it, “adult” shows, and ATLA/LOK do worldbuilding, storytelling, visuals and characterization (not just main characters but everyone) as good as many “adult” shows, even better in some cases.
@Browntable_Ent
All around better. Dialogue doesn’t feel inauthentic. Pedro’s performance doesn’t sound phoned in, the music and composition works so well. I’d go out on a limb and say few episodes have matched this one in the series

Every time someone criticizes Star Wars it’s die-hard fans come out of the woodwork to defend it by calling it bad on purpose or for babies or both. Lmaooo

Marvel bringing back a fan-fav female character (who stood out for subverting the typical superhero love interest tropes) just to fridge her would be wild

after the council meeting today, where Ald. Moore delayed approval of the Hollander apartments development as payback for ShotSpotter delay.

Whoa whoa there that sounds like a serialized television plot there. Where’s all the lore references and live action cartoon character cameos?

In Marvel, everything is setup for the next setup for the next setup for a mythical payoff that always is just enough out of reach to keep watching.
@fellawhomstdve
Honestly it’s one of the things I’m more okay with, like right now it’s the equivalent of a fixed up, purely functional classic car. Maybe it’ll get a nice paint job later in the season, but I’m glad they saved some fun for season 3 at least
@BorkEternal
Remember when Cassie is protesting people left homeless from the Blip (that Scott basically caused) and is mad he isn’t doing more to help people. And then at the end of his “arc” he still doesn’t help those people, not even through Hope’s charity?

My worry is they write an ending that’s essentially “the religious extremists are morally correct and actually the best Mandalorians” without understanding from an allegorical context what they’re actually saying with their story
@Browntable_Ent
Not sure when exactly this happened, maybe this is video fodder for you, but feels like Marvel is no longer interested in making superhero movies, and by that I mean stories about why someone chooses to use their powers for good. They’re more interested in endless worldbuilding

Are those like some of the only remaining Wright fragments? Also imagine letting your acclaimed filmmaker walk just because you’re dead set on your hero meeting Anthony Mackie for 5 min…
This week, the

tells me Biden reduced turnout: “I think if we had had more exciting candidates at the top of the ballot, a more exciting race, I think we would have seen higher turnout. I think if Bernie Sanders had been on the ballot, Bring Chicago Home would have carried the day.”
Good morning, I'm covering the Committee on Transportation and Public Way hearing with

It’s my last day as a

reporter, but this municipal govt nerd won’t rest for long.
On Monday, I’m joining

as a city hall & county gov reporter. I’m excited to continue in this line of work at a bigger level!
Can’t wait to be back in Chicago soon.

Well, the First Lady did nude photo shoots for magazines, which is fine, and the president has cheated on her with porn stars. This is not a political scandal in 2020. It’s homophobic.
Roger Montoya, an Española-area Democrat who is running for a vacant seat on the state House of Representatives, acknowledged Monday he appeared in pornographic films when he was a struggling college student nearly four decades ago.

This is my last week with the

I’ll be sharing something exciting soon. Stay tuned.

It’s imperative that any Chicago journalists reporting efforts to combat homelessness at the city’s airports understand that certain groups want to help the unhoused while others believe it’s gross that they have to see them.
The

Not only will it hit my hardworking reporter friends there hard, but the biggest loser is the community itself.
Cruces has no other paper doing the caliber of watchdog journalism it does.

Six candidates in open and/or contested races have received $10k donations each.

This would be cool, but it’s a still a huge mistake not to outright canonize all the Netflix stuff. Then more of what happened in those shows could be folded into this plotline. Especially when they’re clearly written to be canon…

Young people have not shown up to the polls this time… 57% of ballots have been cast by people over 55.
To compare, in the general mayoral last April, 53% of votes were UNDER age 54. This is nearly an 11 pt. drop.
