@KameelaAlibhai9
As if this comment made to you wasn’t already ridiculous nonsense, I was trained by 2 female cardiac surgeons who were absolutely brilliant and could handle any case under the sun...
See you in the OR!
One week ago I walked out of my home of the last 6 years. A hard day, but grateful to have worked among the world's best.
Excited for this new chapter!

Some mentors you just can’t describe in a tweet. It was wonderful to celebrate
@MdGosta
and the tremendous impact he’s had on us, and all of our patients. You will be missed!
-Mini AVR
-MV repair
-MAC debridement / MV repair
-Ascending aorta / hybrid total arch / FET
-MV repair / maze
-Robotic MV repair
…One of these things was not like the others this week…
Sometimes the stars align and bring people together in exactly the right way. An unexpected encounter between a cardiac surgery nurse and a heart attack victim saves a life!

@TallRoundsTM
A detour from her normal route brought nurse Chelsea Kelly past Jon's house just moments after he collapsed in the front yard. She stopped and performed CPR, likely saving his life.
Robotic Mitral Valve Repair - reflections after
@CleClinicHVTI
performed its 2,400th robotically assisted mitral valve repair surgery in May 2024.
Judicious application yields a 99.7% repair rate and 0.04% mortality.

Hot off the press from TVT registry (over 400K pts) presented by Joe Bavaria at Ancona, Italy meeting. Real-world data shows 11.3% 1yr TAVR mortality for all pts and 5% 1yr TAVR mortality for low-risk pts.

Unfortunately, both the UK and The USA are feeling the effects of COVID complacency and, particularly in the USA, under-vaccination.
The solution here is so simple: ignore the divisive politics, mask-up, get vaccinated, trust your doctors.
@ClevelandClinic
How many surgeons do you know who can expertly do a Ross, valve-sparing root, mini-mitral repair, total arch / FET, & TAVI? I know exactly one

Higher volume surgical aortic valve replacement associated with decreased mortality after transcatheter replacement. Major implications for guidelines and good practice!

We did it!! So grateful for all my CT surgery mentors and

family for all their support over the years. Coming to a Cleveland hospital near you!
It was a great opportunity for minimally invasive leaders to meet and share skill and expertise at the inaugural Canadian Minimally Invasive Cardiac Collaborative (CMICC) meeting sponsored by Edwards Lifesciences! Great discussion! Look forward to future collaboration!
I remember working with Dr. Bonneau as an elective student. He was an excellent teacher and responsible for one of my favorite elective rotations. He will certainly be missed by many!
The wonderful cardiac surgery team at St Michael’s Hospital - Dr Daniel Bonneau has retired. His legacy lives on in the thousands of surgeons that he has trained around the world
@UofTCVsurgery
When is it more beneficial to perform a mitral re-repair rather than a valve replacement for patients with degenerative disease? What's the durability of re-repair? Researchers from

Not sure why this is not getting more attention - “The researchers found that taking selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) … associated with severe mitral regurgitation,” due to valve thickening.

Eagerly await. We see so many complications within these lower / indeterminate ranges, this has the potential for major impact.

In addition to his massive financial support, when I was at Montreal Children’s Hospital, he would randomly drop in unannounced and visit the kids.
I’m excited about the
@Pfizer
vaccine BUT:
-it’s a press release NOT an academic paper.
-it’s VERY preliminary data on 94 cases, and susceptible to SAMPLING ERROR.
Let’s hope this pans out, but in the mean time, Ohio cases are the worst EVER. Stay vigilant team!
Ok team, it’s the 4th quarter and we’re losing:
WE spread viruses.
Masks are no fun, but they make carriers less likely to spread the virus.
You can have the virus and no symptoms and still spread it!
It’s not about politics, it’s about working together to win this fight!
Celebrating a rare event
@ClevelandClinic
we hope to see more!
Congrats to a recent all female cardiac OR team of surgeons, fellows, perfusionists, nurses & anesthesiologists🫀
Women comprise 6.2% of adult cardiac surgeons in the US:
