Singer, doctor and rescuer of small animals. No I don’t want to see your rash. Home is Dubai and New Zealand, if I leave one I get homesick for the other.
My kids really enjoyed their Chinese takeaways tonight. They ate everything on their plates.
I put my home cooked stir fry with organic chicken and my homegrown organic vegetables into takeaway containers.

This is awesome!! I had a shock last Halloween when I put together a drive by Halloween event with my neighbor. We borrowed about 300m of street verge for it. The newspaper and tv found out and 18k people drove by 🙈
@AlHendiify
@LadyDoctorSays
I had a break in once where they stole baby gear and toys. Even took the baby wash from the bathroom. I had very conflicted emotions, but someone needed that stuff more than me.
@NBedera
Almost every date I went on in my early 20’s ended in the guy saying he was too drunk to drive home and asking to sleep over. Every. Single. Date.
I told them to sleep in their car and organize themselves better in future. Suddenly they were not actually so drunk after all.
@Dr_BellaR
A year after losing my newborn daughter I was posted in NICU. I couldn’t brave it. Just quietly swapped with a friend in wards and hoped no one say anything. Wasn’t even ready to explain why. You’re lucky you have a supportive supervisor ❤️
@juamei
@fesshole
Someone set up a tent in the nice park I drive past every day. They’ve even built a little fence. It annoyed me at first, but then I started to think fair play to them. Might go down and see if they need anything.
I just realized that junior doctors earn around $25 per hour in New Zealand. My 18 year old son earns $24 in his after school job. Are we seriously still trying to convince kids to study hard so they might become a doctor one day? 🧵
@Rogers_Suzanne
@jfitzgeraldMD
In New Zealand we have a government funded midwife from conception to 6 weeks post partum, with regular home visits for mother and baby. Very supportive system, recently more emphasis on pelvic floor.
@chadloder
Waiting until birth to find out my baby’s gender, and yesterday my 13 year old referred to her soon to be sibling as ‘it’.
My 68 year old mother: “What do you mean ‘IT’? I think we all know by now it is They/Them!”
Flew Bali to New Zealand red-eye last night with my baby (on his 1st birthday).
The drunk guys in front of us were real tough guys swearing at my baby for crying (as he fell asleep) and laughing loudly, waking him up again repeatedly.
Babies are not the problem on flights.
@kasal_finley
Such a relief isn’t it?! My son had a few gatherings at our house while I was away and I never needed to worry. But my 14 year old daughter won’t even have friends stay over because she doesn’t like people messing her room.
@adiiiaf
Did a DNA test and found out my sperm donor was my parents fertility specialist!🫢
On the bright side my 1/2 brothers turned out to be full brothers and I have more 1/2 brothers.
The weirdest thing was that I became a doctor too! They were good genes so no complaints here.
@emmawehipeihana
My best friend of 25 years refuses to get the vaccine, she was pro vax before covid. My ego is slightly bruised that she trusts Quriouskiwi more than my medical degree.
@robdelaney
I changed my fb profile to a video of my daughter Lamees after she passed 4 years ago, I haven’t had the heart to change it since because I love seeing the reminder. She always had the hiccups in utero so it is extra special ❤️
@Bec_Shrader
I also carried my daughter with a 20% chance of her living. 0% when her drs decided against surgery. Would I go through that again? Probably not, but it would be my choice. Should others carry to term? None of my business. I’m absolutely pro choice.
@LexRegina72
When every second word out their mouths is a reminder to their group to stay ‘peaceful’ you know how bad it really is. That guy can hardly hold back his fists… the pressure is mounting and fights will break out soon. Maybe with each other.
@fesshole
I cooked my husband lasagna for our second date, he still insists I gave him food poisoning. I took good care of him out of guilt though, so maybe the expression should be ‘the way to a man’s heart is through his colon.’
@MomoStJohn
Tbh the hardest part was cleaning the kitchen before they came down to eat! You re-buried carrots bahaha that’s hilarious and worthy of a 21st bday speech.

I once had a pregnant patient refuse an ultrasound for reduced fetal movement because I looked too pretty and young. I was 35 and a mother of 4. Granted I was looking 👌🏼 that day but still.

Talked to my teens about depression and suicidal thoughts the other day, explained to them it’s similar to a person with anorexia not seeing how underweight they are in the mirror. Never trust what your brain tells you when you are depressed.

This girl is an inspiration, look at her staying calm and standing up for what she believes in. What an absolute legend, I bet her whanau are so proud of her. I love Gen Z!

My hubby had a Saudi prince borrow his car and drive himself to his hotel, he had lost his driver and wanted to try out my husbands car (the latest model). They both jumped in and sped across the desert. He joined the Prince for dinner that night with some famous people.
Why are people suddenly ok with coughing all over everyone and not even covering their mouth? It’s gross. Have we sunk that low as a nation? Common decency and hygiene are out the window along with masks? 🤢
@NBedera
I had a guest room permanently set up, and if I was feeling generous or knew someone well enough I would let them stay. My bedroom door was kept locked.
@KaylaChowShow
“Hurry it’s getting dry!”
“It’s still not hard enough!”
“It’s too wet!”
“Try moving from your elbow not your wrist”
“Can you put it in for me?”
“Give me sec I need water.”
“My hand hurts, where’s your power tool?”
“Wrong hole!”
“Forget it I’ll finish up myself!”
17 years ago my husband joked about where our invite was for a staff boat trip, did it get lost in the mail etc. Almost all of our friends drowned that night on that boat. A birthday dinner of 12 people the week before & only the 2 of us alive now. Not being invited isn’t so bad.
The vegetables were:
Choko (my fav)
Broccoli
Radish (tops and roots)
Bok choy
Brown onion and spring onions
Carrots (store bought because I couldn’t grow them until recently 😄)
@David_Cormack
Delighted that my son and his friends are old enough to vote, all very left leaning, hardworking Kings boys with after school/weekend jobs. Luxon’s supposed demographic is shrinking by the day. He made a big boo boo.
@HalloranKylene
@babbymd
My son once ate really old leftovers, hoping he’d get sick and stay home from school. Strangely he still didn’t get sick.
“Mum I just want a day off and you always know when I’m pulling a sickie, it’s not fair!”
We switched to mental health days after that. No need to die kid.
@MeetJess
When I was 16 my friend and I chatted with my Nanna,who on that day thought she was young.
She told us funny stories and giggled like a schoolgirl.
I felt like I finally knew her,not the the stern private woman.
Then she was serious, “You better go, my parents will be home soon!”
@vincristine
@KiffinEileen
Didn’t see my husband for 13 months, it was hard on the kids and he was lucky to even get an MIQ spot when he did. I didn’t resent any of it, we were lucky to enjoy our covid zero freedom.
@emilykmay
My kids were extreme opposites: one climbed out of his crib at 2yrs old, repeatedly running baths in the middle of the night 😱 The other never climbed out or even so much as stood up in her crib. At 3 I got her a toddler bed simply because it was getting weird!

There in the dining hall were my two older brothers and all of their friends. They were meant to be in another town 5 hours away but changed their mind last minute. Of all the places they had ended up there. 2/2

No, we will all be vaccinated with the best vaccine (due to waiting) and celebrating with our parents and grandparents who are still alive and well (due to not getting covid).

They’d changed their mind at the last minute and headed to one of the many backpackers in that busy seaside town.The kind owner dropped me to my friends house not long after.I will never forget the kindness of those strangers nor the heartlessness of Mt Maunganui police force.4/4

My friend and I dragged a sheep out of a swamp when we were 14, she was stuck for at least a day. I realized when I heard her lamb crying.
She was soaked and very heavy. Dried her with towels and wrapped in blankets until farmer came. Took lamb home to feed. Both survived 🥰
@redusa21
You just know somebody who’s never been pregnant wrote this/imagined this picture. Abortion is emotionally hard, nobody does it because it’s easy, stop trying to guilt trip them.
A young guy in my community has had his jaw broken twice in the past 6 weeks while waiting at Hobsonville bus stops. 5 young thugs pulled over and beat him up for his basically empty wallet. Metal plates on both sides of his jaw. Wtf?! I’m terrified to let my son catch the bus!
My dad told me today that he’d really struggled with grief after my baby daughter died. That was 6 years ago, but it’s the first time he’s mentioned it.
Please know that when someone dies we feel alone (and so lonely) in our suffering. We want to talk about and remember them! ❤️
@AnnJacobsMKE
@guttersniper
We get to the backpackers and I sit down to survey the room full of people. One guy seems familiar “Steve” I called out. My big brother turns around, then my other brother, then all their friends. We were 5 hours from home, and they were meant to be in another town.3/4

I was 16 celebrating Y2K in another town when my bag got emptied of all contents (shoes, phone, wallet) and I got separated from my friends. Police station turned me away, cut my toe badly on their door as I left. I walked down the street crying at 3am in the pouring rain. 1/3

I was 16, walking alone in the rain 3am at New Years 2000, a cut foot, no phone/money (bag was stolen). Some people offered to bring me back to backpackers with them, hoping the owner would give me a ride. Got the shock of my life when we got to the backpackers… 1/2

Our baby possum sometimes popped up during my husbands zoom meetings. She once leapt onto his shoulder and gave a Saudi woman the giggles.

Exactly. I know people who’ve been raped in this exact situation. I know someone who was raped by her best friends husband when she stayed over after a bbq! Ladies pls lock your doors when men are in the house!

A nice group of tourists walking in front of me turned around and asked if I was ok. I explained my situation and they offered to take me back to their backpackers nearby and find a solution, apparently the owner was a nice guy. 2/2

A few months of having to answer questions about your pregnancy, what you’re having, what you’re naming your baby and why you’re not excited but filled with dread… and your idealistic view would likely change. You might choose that path once, but perhaps never again. Choice.
@sarahkcomedy
My dad has terminal cancer, for his birthday I got him a dinner tray on wheels with a built in iPad stand, and some ear pods. Xmas is a new kettle, Amazon fire stick and a sofa arm food/drink tray. Hard to buy gifts for someone that is housebound. I’m also writing his memoirs.

My South African friends SIL was in her early 30’s and died from cardiac arrest from Delta strain. We were so lucky here to dodge it.
Taking Roman in to Starship for a scope tomorrow and quite honestly I’ve almost backed out 5 times. Last time I had a baby under GA things didn’t end well (but I still had a close friend sending me updates from the inside). I’m so nervous.
Mind slightly blown. Americans don’t know you can freeze bread 😅 kiwis freeze everything, milk, bread, home baked stuff, leftovers that we always forget to eat
Why can't bread come in small packages instead of huge loaves? I live alone, and can't eat all that bread before it gets moldy. I wind up having to throw most of it away.

As the country moves towards becoming truly bilingual we will all use Māori in daily life, even those who are not proficient. I still use some Arabic words every day after 16 years in the Middle East and I could only speak a little.
@morakanemohapi
My family likes sleepovers, and my friends often stay with me, but we really try to spoil our guests. Egyptian cotton sheets, memory foam pillow top and a range of different pillows to suit anyone’s preference. Dad and stepmum even stay at my mums when they need a little getaway
@fesshole
My evening walk is the thing I look forward to most, even more now with my baby in the pram. It’s a great chance to process the day and recalibrate.
I was 19 years old and single when I found out I was pregnant, and chose to raise my son alone. He’s 20 now and at uni, but his boss messaging my husband (who’s been his dad since he was 2) has to be one of my absolute proudest moments as his mother 🥰
@kasal_finley
My 14 year old prefers pool parties, baking cupcakes and being pulled around in a wagon at hangouts. I find this hilarious because it is absolutely not what I was doing at her age. Must be the all-girls school. Long may childhood continue!

I have carried to term a baby that had very slim chances of survival with extremely difficult surgeries. Discovered additional issues upon birth that were not seen during ultrasound, therefore ruling out surgery. I loved my daughter but I would not put myself through that again.

If only natural selection affected those choosing not to wear a mask, rather than people like my father, who are doing all they can to stay safe but can’t protect themselves from the infectious droplets coming out peoples mouths. Some people actually want to live.
@Writer_Caroline
Had a similar situation with my daughter (in our case we traveled overseas for a surgery that was unsuccessful).I often regret that I didn’t go home and treasure the time I had left, to have a lot of cuddles without wires and make lots of memories. Love and strength to you all ❤️

They even blame her for being single, when it may not have even been her choice. Like trad husbands don’t cheat and leave their slave wives with nothing 🙄

Paying very little for meals that are far too big, then having to top up the servers far too small wages with a tip. Why don’t restaurants just charge a normal price for a normal size meal and pay their staff normal wages?!

In the Middle East every spare inch of grass outside the hospital would be filled with families picnicking in the evenings, even the roundabout at the entrance. Such good vibes.
@baddestmamajama
When I was 10 my crush said I had moon cheeks, the fattest face he’d ever seen. I was devastated and hated my cheeks since then. People often ask if I have cheek implants. I turn 37 tomorrow, finally love my chipmunk cheeks ☺️
Don’t want to come across all trad-wifey or anything but I just made the most delicious gluten free banana muffins ever. Possibly the best muffins I’ve tasted. With a stick blender. Mess free in one measuring jug. Took only 2 minutes annnnd I came up with the recipe myself 👏🏼 💃

I had multiple OBGYN consultants tell me they noticed I had an affinity for the specialty but they advised against it for the sake of my sanity and my home life. It left me a bit lost! It is really important for junior doctors to get that support, well done Jin!
@laurapeek_
I have lost count of the number of times my husband has done this. Everyone looks around awkwardly waiting for someone to step in and I say ok go do your thing.
@GinaRangi
I was in South Auckland last week and was super impressed with the numbers wearing masks and using tracing app. In my community I’ve noticed I’m one of few Pakeha wearing masks! Respect should be given for the huge efforts being made.

Haha it’s funny because I spotted that after I posted and was waiting for someone to pick up on it! I guess we get so used to the lingo with ‘gender reveal’ parties etc. Thanks for raising that point!

My 65 year old Nanna after my Grandad died:
“I wish I’d divorced him 30 years ago. I also wish I’d tried some of that whacky backy stuff.”
She met him at 15 and married at 16, he was 29. He loved her, but she wasn’t allowed to work or have her own life. 6 kids keeps you tied.

I’m kind of glad they did it and got caught, because it shows people that they won’t get away with trying that. It’s not the fear of punishment that prevents crime, it’s the likelihood of being caught.

My country’s airforce base sits beside a primary school. A fence is all that separates them. We still use leaded petrol in aviation. When I suggested people get their children tested for lead exposure I was laughed at by people with zero medical knowledge. Nobody tested.
