Wildfire smoke from Canada is being blown down the entire front range. Boulder AQI is in the 150 to 200 range since yesterday. Air is brownish-gray with smoke, acrid to breathe if unmasked, and very irritating to the eyes. I'm wearing my Airgami outside today.

IR lets you see that how #Airgami doesn't leak at the edges because it doesn't change colors there. The vast majority of the Airgami filter surface area doesn't touch skin and has air flow (color changes at inhale/exhale). Resistance is lowered by the larger usable filter area.

On ear loops vs. head straps, I find ear loops more convenient and easier to adjust for short duration wear, like going grocery shopping. Head straps are more comfortable for me during long-duration wear, like taking a long-distance airline flight or all day wear in the factory.

Looks pretty convincing that masking in schools reduces transmission. Not surprising because hi-fi masks/respirators protect against all variants. COVID-19 is nowhere close to being done with us, especially with the real threat from new immunity-evading variants on the horizon.

@amandalhu Wildfire smoke is highly toxic. Must wear a tight fitting mask with > 95% PFE if AQI levels get above 100 to 150. We're seeing AQI levels of 450+ downwind of the fires in Canada, into northern Montana. For sure you should wear a respirator if you go outside in those conditions.

@MrHumpty_ @zhang_yueting @CorsIAQ Yes, just about everyone I know who doesn't wear masks every day indoors has been infected. Many multiple times. And the folks I know who wear masks every day indoors haven't gotten infected. Those who got infected were miserable for 10 days to 2 years and lost lots of income.

BUT for me the riskiest part of the flight is cruising shoulder to shoulder with an unmasked, unknown passenger who is coughing and the unmasked toddler behind my seat is wailing because her ears hurt and then she starts to cough too because now her throat hurts from crying.

Condensation from breath is a matter of ambient temperature and relative humidity. I'm in a relative dry climate and wear Airgami for 8 hours continually indoors without any condensation. Outdoors, I get some condensation in the cold winter temps.

Finally got a chance to test Airgami respirators. I wasn't sure if the straight origami folds would be able to conform to the curves of my face, but with tightened straps I passed an N95 mode fit test in the medium size. Samples supplied by Airgami

Infinitely more comfortable than wearing a neck gaiter against the wind. Neck gaiter gets sopping wet from exhalation condensation and feels very cold and clammy against the skin.

Why isn't this Brookings piece ) getting more mileage? By their estimates, long COVID is costing workers as much as $230B in lost wages annually, growing to $500B in short order. Add business losses from supply chain disruptions and less tax revenue. Ouch!

@RealGayArbys @STLMasking @masknerd OK to rinse Airgami in water as many times as you like. It will have no effect on the filter. Make sure it's clean water, room temp is OK. Dry thoroughly before reuse.

@sri_srikrishna Years back I lived overseas in a heavily air polluted, hot and humid environment and wore a cup-style N95 every day. I learned that the more you sweat in a mask, the more the filter gets saturated with fluid, the harder it is to breathe, and that can get quite uncomfortable.
