HHS spent waaay over $22,000,000,000 on vaccine development and only $500,000 on mask innovation. One of these stops transmission & infection. The other doesn't. Can you guess which one? And guess which one is shuttering production?
@NgoTheWorld
Thanks for the thoughtful thread, Kevin. As with Flo Mask, running Airgami has been an exciting grind. We've faced many of the same challenges and positive feedbacks. If we got a nickel for every time someone told us we were going to be billionaires we'd be a lot better off! 🧵/1
Exciting news! We've added four (4) new Airgami colors today! Check out:
Lantern - a luscious deep red
Coffee - the classic brown
Peach - delectable!
Plus don't miss our limited-edition Prism - it changes shade depending on the viewing angle.

Don't hold me to any predictions, but I doubt this is the last we'll see of Airgami. Ever the optimist, the future looks bright to me. I say bring it on. And best wishes to all the mask innovators out there. The world still needs you.
@NgoTheWorld
The future of Air99 is uncertain, but we thrive in uncertainty. Airgami is a proven product and we have plans to improve it. We learned a ton from making Airgami these last 3 years. Not having a factory to worry about actually frees us to innovate more quickly.

@NgoTheWorld
Building a company is hard. Building a mask company in the midst of a global pandemic and when masks are politicized and disinfo is rampant is harder. I liken it to surfing a tsunami. On the other hand, without the pandemic, we would never have entered the market.🧵/2

Looks like a perfect fit. That's most important.
Filter has PFE of 99% +/-. See specs at
It has no nose wire by design. Great breathability comes from the super-sized electrostatic filter. Origami magic makes it fit tight.

One of the cool (pun) non-standard tests that NIOSH did during the BARDA Mask Innovation Challenge was to use their walking, sweating manikin to measure thermal comfort. Airgami moisture retention was ~3x less than a cup N95 and only ~7% more than a surgical mask.

Looks like you're wearing Airgami Classic White, size Small, with a headstrap, and it fits you perfectly. Glasses aren't fogging. Nice clean look. Enjoy!
Wildfire smoke from Canada is being blown down the entire front range. Boulder AQI is in the 150 to 200 range since yesterday. Air is brownish-gray with smoke, acrid to breathe if unmasked, and very irritating to the eyes. I'm wearing my Airgami outside today.
Airgami on the slopes. Kept our faces warm and no sun/wind burn on a cold, windy, blue-sky day. Some condensation inside the mask but more comfortable compared to exposed skin. Great protection indoors since few people masked.
Flying from Boston back to Denver. Few people wearing masks while Omicron rages. Go figure... We're comfy and protected in our

Folks aren’t wearing masks in public & here I am wearing a mask in my backyard to meet w/a couple of construction ppl for some work I need 😁 decided to try the Airgami but w/the humidity & sweat I’m not sure it’s good to use outside in hot weather since it’s a ⬆️💲disposable 🤷🏼♀️

Dear Dr. Cohen - thank you for this informative video. Is COVID-19 carried airborne on aerosols and does a tight-fitting mask/respirator with no exhale valve and > 95% filtration of > 0.1 µm diameter particles (i.e. N95) slow down or stop the transmission of airborne COVID-19?
IR lets you see that how

doesn't leak at the edges because it doesn't change colors there. The vast majority of the Airgami filter surface area doesn't touch skin and has air flow (color changes at inhale/exhale). Resistance is lowered by the larger usable filter area.
Here are a few more masks I tested. Firstly is

One caveat - at the end he talks about cuffing the nose of the mask. This is a non-standard adjustment that works for some, but we recommend using the mask without cuffing, as-is, out of the box.
Purple Air map for NY metro and surroundings. These numbers are extremely bad, even hazardous. They are as bad as my very worst air-pollution days in China. Stay indoors or, if you must go outside, absolutely wear a high filtration (>95% PFE), tight fitting mask.

New CDC guidelines will weaken rules to control infectious diseases in healthcare settings and will re-classify blue surgical masks as equivalent to N95s. I've seen enough. I'm calling it. They are trying to kill us.
It's not right that we don't track data about the prevalence and spread of infectious diseases around the USA and ROW. Without data, we can not take adequate preventive measures. How can dropping data collection and reporting make any sense?
We have opportunity to update our data infrastructure and strengthen our National and global disease surveillance systems. The roadmap is clear, funding is even available.
We need strong leadership to get the job done.

It is reusable up to 48 heat disinfection cycles. See instructions at . If you sweat in it, don't sweat it (pun intended). Just rinse in clean tap water and air dry and/or heat disinfect.
I know I previously posted this graph, but it's just too dramatic not to repost. High-filtration, breathable masks are really, really effective at stopping airborne bio-hazards. They do a great job with particulate air pollution, too.

Safe indoor air & masks.
Just look at how flu disappeared while we masked. That had nothing to do with vaccines.
We need even better masks (respirators) for highly transmissible Omicrons.

Doing athletics with a mask/respirator is quite possible. The higher the breathability, the better. The bigger the filter, the higher the breathability. These videos shows how it's done. Thanks

I'm glad I wasn't the only one to catch that statement by WH Press Secy. Jean-Pierre, which she attributed to Dr. Ashish Jha. This is fatalistic talk and I don't buy it. We need to do better.
On ear loops vs. head straps, I find ear loops more convenient and easier to adjust for short duration wear, like going grocery shopping. Head straps are more comfortable for me during long-duration wear, like taking a long-distance airline flight or all day wear in the factory.

Airgami is for singers. It articulates at the jaw to allow natural mouth movements. Breathability is best in class because of the large folded filter surface area.

Looks pretty convincing that masking in schools reduces transmission. Not surprising because hi-fi masks/respirators protect against all variants.
COVID-19 is nowhere close to being done with us, especially with the real threat from new immunity-evading variants on the horizon.
@amandalhu
Wildfire smoke is highly toxic. Must wear a tight fitting mask with > 95% PFE if AQI levels get above 100 to 150. We're seeing AQI levels of 450+ downwind of the fires in Canada, into northern Montana. For sure you should wear a respirator if you go outside in those conditions.

Yes, just about everyone I know who doesn't wear masks every day indoors has been infected. Many multiple times. And the folks I know who wear masks every day indoors haven't gotten infected. Those who got infected were miserable for 10 days to 2 years and lost lots of income.

Yes. BUT for me the riskiest part of the flight is cruising shoulder to shoulder with an unmasked, unknown passenger who is coughing and the unmasked toddler behind my seat is wailing because her ears hurt and then she starts to cough too because now her throat hurts from crying.
Condensation from breath is a matter of ambient temperature and relative humidity. I'm in a relative dry climate and wear Airgami for 8 hours continually indoors without any condensation. Outdoors, I get some condensation in the cold winter temps.

Do they carry a stock of N95 respirators on board? I'm curious how many masked up after the first case was detected? I wonder what kind of testing they are doing on board? I wonder what % have to be sick/incapacitated for the captain to request to return to port? Quarantine?

Bravo, CDC! Thanks for recommending life-saving N95-grade respirators! SARS-CoV-2 transmits airborne on microscopic aerosols that can linger for hours indoors and be inhaled. Tight-fitting masks with high filtration like
#Airgami
are the best protection.
Infinitely more comfortable than wearing a neck gaiter against the wind. Neck gaiter gets sopping wet from exhalation condensation and feels very cold and clammy against the skin.
For those who suffering with pulmonary issues, like asthma, emphysema, COPD ... you might want to start wearing a 95% PM2.5 filtering mask when AQI levels reach 50 or above.
And then there's COVID-19 ...
#Airgami
Long COVID is real. Even in kids. We must continue to take seriously the need to stop COVID transmission through voluntary wearing of high-efficiency respirators (de-politicize and shift our culture) and improved ventilation and filtration in schools.
Why isn't this Brookings piece ) getting more mileage? By their estimates, long COVID is costing workers as much as $230B in lost wages annually, growing to $500B in short order. Add business losses from supply chain disruptions and less tax revenue. Ouch!

OK to rinse Airgami in water as many times as you like. It will have no effect on the filter. Make sure it's clean water, room temp is OK. Dry thoroughly before reuse.
@sri_srikrishna
Years back I lived overseas in a heavily air polluted, hot and humid environment and wore a cup-style N95 every day. I learned that the more you sweat in a mask, the more the filter gets saturated with fluid, the harder it is to breathe, and that can get quite uncomfortable.
