An appreciation tweet to
@KagutaMuseveni
for a stellar job in getting Uganda to oil and gas FID. I have been privileged to see him, over the years, make difficult decisions, negotiate and deliver positions we couldn't and help parties agree.

Thank you Owek.
@cpmayiga
the Katikiro of Buganda for giving the oil and gas sector three days of fantastic statements,conversations and a memorable tour of the facilities with your team. Your advice & support for our oil and gas sector is deeply appreciated.
A great day it was today. HE the President launched drilling at the Kingfisher devt area. First rig for Tilenga on site, two more to come and with EACOP on course,
#firstoil2025
is in sight. Add on the Refinery and our economy will be✈️🚀
@UNOC_UG
@GCICUganda
So Germany and Denmark can build this tunnel, turn on coal plants, emit significant Co2 but Uganda can't construct a pipeline 15 km from L.Vic and produce it's not so big oil deposits? This is why we won't take this advisory seriously.
Contributed to the on-going & necessary debate on how Africa must position itself to industrialise, end energy poverty while being responsive to GHG emissions. My view; Africa must sustainably exploit all its resources, including oil and gas.

conference today. We will deep-dive into ESG in the Board rooms. I will speak about oil and gas sector and ESG at this timely conference. ESG is a critical part of all oil and gas operations in Uganda.
@UNOC_UG
@Sambannz
The is simplicity and wrong math at best. EACOP transports oil,it's shareholders get revenue from transport charges. The charges are $12.77 a barrel. TZ waived transit fees. Oil is shared under PSA and GoU takes 70% share. IOCs including UNOC share the rest.
A great decision by

@adoniaayebare
, all the funders have audited the project and passed it with highest commendations. The problems aren't on this front. It's with some green MEPs.
Tanzanian Catholic bishops pray for and endorse EACOP.
@EACOP_
is a well planned, low carbon-emitting transformational project for the people of East Africa. We thank the Bishops for seeing through the many lies peddled about it.
Today, our climate resilience project starts. Working with excellent partners like inter-religious Council, Min. Energy, Min. Of Water,
@PAU_Uganda
and all our partners, we commence the journey of 100 million trees, starting with 40m.
#firstoil2025
@andsjeff
The other little fact is that if no new oil and gas project comes on stream, the price of crude will upwards of USD 100 and hurt every one including the activist herself. Only a multiplicity of solutions will answer climate change needs.

You trust Google sources too much. This is how you ended up with this the map that made all Ugandans and Tanzanians mermaids

will not produce but rather transport crude oil. It will be buried and land restored on top. It has avoided all Ramsar sites. Uganda's crude oil is one of the lowest emitters in the world, 13.3 Kg of Co2 per barrel. LPG will help reduce charcoal use.
In terms of financing, the entities involved hired independent advisors to review ESIA, RAP, agreements, legal and regulatory regime etc. These internationally practicing independent advisors found all these in good order meeting both international standards
@350
@350
, how can the bank you quote pull out of a process they are not part of? Its embarrassing when you tweet lies. EACOP remains oversubscribed by 20%. A low carbon emitting project in a low emitting economy like EACOP can't fail to be funded.
#supporteacop
The reality that all climate activists need to understand. The debate on climate change should be on reduction of emissions from all sources of emissions. The focus on fossil fuel alone is ill-advised and won't deliver Paris agreement.

to a debate on a just energy transition. Their response was removing me from their group that specialises in telling lies about our

projects. If this group had a just cause, why hide from debate?
@cobbo3
, thank you for a very good article. Permit me to add a word; 1. UNOC and partners indeed intend to plant trees to ensure carbon neutrality of our projects,
@EacopSupport
included. UNOC alone will plant 40m trees.
@galleerie
You have now started war mongering? Your lack of coherent and consistent argument is amazing. EACOP will happen and its objective to get our people out of poverty achieved. We love our Country and we shall develop it. You can be part of this or not.
@elisonk
@hrw
@EACOP_
Until they released their report on
@EACOP_
, i believed that
@hrw
was a credible entity but they clearly had a conclusion before setting out to 'research', Our projects follow the highest standards possible and any fairminded entity/person will see that.

How much will it emit? How much does the State you now live in emit? Please read and avoid unresearched out of context comments. Uganda's education system is highly regarded for its research trained graduates.
A book can/should be written about this man of the law. How excellent his judgments were, how fair he was, how informed he was etc. An outstanding judge and a good man. A great loss to the legal fraternity. My condolences to his family.

@TheMutaD
There is no begging really. Tilenga and Kingfisher are funded fully and FID was taken, investment on-going. EACOP is project financed with 60:40 debt to equity ratio. Equity is in and financing is assured. So EU is not part of the financing plan.
@Thomas_Tayebwa

Uganda and Tanzania are generally carbon neutral and these projects will produce LPG that will help reduce reliance on biomass, the biggest emitter for both countries, employ more than 30k young people, generate needed revenue for adaptation, plant 40m trees etc

@NakabuyeHildaF
@Credit_Agricole

When lies are deployed in a cause, then its clear the cause is weak. 200 rivers? Ofcourse, Uganda and Tanzania don't have these many. 100k people displaced? Ofcourse not, only about 12k people are impacted, 4% of these physically displaced using IFC standards.
@JosephSenyonjo3
@josephSenyonjo3
, very little research would have shown you that these people have no contact with the project. It would also have shown you that HE the President has made a directive about them. They are not affected by any oil and gas project. Avoid lies.
So
@Europarl_EN
whose membership that has been burning fossil fuels for millenia and has significant consumption of coal even today is telling Uganda and TZ to shut down our oil and gas projects? The hypocrisy..
@Thomas_Tayebwa
Looking forward to this conversation on

A campaign built on falsehoods won't stand. After lies about 230 rivers, more than 100k affected persons.. you now say 40m people affected. Shame. The total Project Affected Persons by EACOP is 3648(Uganda) and slightly over 9k(TZ). 4% alone to be displaced.

@BBCHARDtalk
He spoke for billions. The global North must do much more. Climate change shouldn't be an issue if the global North did its part equitably and definitively. This is what

and the all media should be asking and not targeting an industry esp in the global South.

3. The production of LPG will provide alternative energy source to charcoal and firewood that are our biggest emitters and challenge to forest cover. Remember Uganda is generally carbon neutral but even then forest cover is important climate change fight.
@Opiaiya
I am certain we won't be that victim. We are developing probably the World's lowest emitting project, we are a net zero Country with insignificant emissions anyway. The projects are extremely important for our energy security. It is clear that the pace is set
@galleerie
The falsehoods this is based on denies you any moral right to condemn anything. The resolution is interfering with a sovereign right over natural resources and he called that out. He was right.

The projects will support capital formation in excess of 8 billion USD, improve import substitution through production of refined and petrochemicals in country, support other sectors like tourism, agriculture etc. Crude oil will be produced sustainably.
@galleerie
@Parliament_Ug
Whether it is an unsolicited non binding piece of advice or not, an MP who probably consumes more fossil fuel than a whole district in Uganda per annum has no moral ground to tell us whether or not to develop oil and gas resources.

With the level of energy poverty in SSA, stranded resources are difficult to imagine. If you really want to fight for less emissions, EACOP is a wrong project for u. Look up the map of most emitters and follow through. Otherwise,its clear u don't have facts.
@galleerie
@Parliament_Ug
The hypocrisy of you citing IEA on climate change. Africa contributes 3.8% of GHG emissions. Europe is historically responsible for any climate change and is on coal now. Just transition is a word you fear. Cut 50% of ur emissions & then we will believe you.

@AmannAdrian
The lies and contradictions in this article and for an MEP to quote it takes is incredible. Doesn't

provide research access for its MEPs?
@EacopSupport
will emit more co2 than Denmark? Are u even serious?
UNFCC proposals in mitigation to ensure we stay below 1.5 degrees Celsius. All countries need to do more in cutting emissions and the following measures right ones. None says ban fossil fuels.
@elisonk
@elisonk
, you are spot on. The Refinery has right of first call up to 60,000 barrels per day. This is both agreements with the IOCs and in the law. It is long settled. The task on our hands is getting all these projects on stream and so far all is going well
@DDPozhidaev
@OilInUg
@PAU_Uganda
Having taken care of the environment and PAPs, the project will produce more than 300k tonnes of LPG to help with cutting of trees for charcoal and firewood, employ more than 120k people, generate more than 22bn USD in direct revenues for the State
@TotalEnergiesUG
@HillaryTaylorVI
@dkamugisha1
, this is what we r talking about. They are Tangible benefits for our people.120k jobs, 100k tonnes of LPG, 12bn USD FDI, new roads, airport, industrial park, refined products etc. We say no to begging u propose
@EacopSupport
2. Through banning of flaring, optimisation in design, use of clean energy to heat the pipeline as well as power upstream, our projects are among the least emitters in the World at 13.3 Kgs of Co2 for scope 1&2. The world average is 33 Kgs.

Practical solutions to climate change questions. Not activism without solutions. The oil and gas sector remains key in the climate change debate.
@galleerie
Classic dodge and play. Your hypocrisy is on display. I care about my people by developing this project so they can use LPG and not charcoal, get jobs, roads, revenue, industry etc while you want them poor as you enjoy fossil fuel riches & comfort in EU.
@stopEACOP
@StandardBankZA
From clothes you are wearing, transport means that got you to the venue, the placard materials and ink etc, I see petrochemical products. The world will successfuly deal with climate change matters even with oil and gas in its energy mix.
