What do you think the proportion is between people who are late as the result of rail-based transit vs people who are late due to vehicle-based routes???
Continually amazed how Shohei is either the most bonkers elite wizard athlete to ever play this game OR he looks like it’s the first time he’s ever played in a baseball game and is trying to figure it out as he goes along
It’s an incredible combo
There is “not missing a beat”,
and then there is “Diana Ross not missing a beat while catching a falling earring as she performs on the Ed Sullivan show”
— at 0:16 !
This is one of the most impressive things I’ve ever seen, what the hell

“She’s multicultural too”

I am SO confused about all of this, it’s like the most parasocial, weird, and likely misguided narrative ever

If she wasn’t in a city, she wouldn’t have been able to run to the bodega. This has to do with predatory behavior— you think that’s not prevalent in rural communities??

I would love to know why invites are deleted after I’ve looked at them!! There’s usually important stuff and attachments there; every few hours I’m back in the recycle bin and clicking “stop ignoring” individually, which is the most presumptive action label ever.
Shohei Ohtani already gets to first base faster than any other regular MLB player and next year the distance between bases will be 4.5" less than it was this year. 😮

I haven’t seen the kente cloth one, but I recall this very well, plus Obama speaking about it and the Clinton campaign playing dumb. In those years, something like this was HIGHLY contentious
@criticalurban
How do you know this isn’t due to disability? Cool thing to say. You don’t exactly embody respectability, from and ethical or critical standpoint.
What the proportion is has nothing to do with how you or I feel about it.

Guess I’m cliche because Weird Fishes and How To Disappear are my favorites ahahaha

So many of our common aphorisms too (“an honest day’s work”, “take pride in what you do”) that are embedded in culture do not serve the self as much as they serve meeting a bottom line and rationalizing exploitation of labor with substandard compensation plus mobility paralysis.
I keep seeing people saying stuff like Ohtani is an average pitcher, and while I understand that people will oppose anything or anyone with hype attached to it, it’s just stupidly vindictive and wrong.
ALL MLB Starting pitcher nominees
Shohei Ohtani has the most unhittable pitch in baseball… his splitter, he has never allowed a homerun and the batting avg against it is .075
Not entirely sure how to justify this, but I trust a post by user account ‘fbifemboy’ on a website called ‘milkyeggs’ that looks like it’s from spring of 2005 more than just about anything right now
If these TikToks are going to focus on self-diagnosis, it should be stuff like how many cumulative weeks-to-months have you spent sobbing because you know you’ve let people down, including (especially) yourself, but unable to fix it despite being extremely stressed & trying hard?
my favorite twitter thing is when someone is like “the worst part about ADHD is that i’m constantly losing things” and all the quote tweets are like “wait i’ve lost things before. that’s ADHD???”

Oh my god I just remembered
rewatching, and it’s so evident how much this matters to her, must mean so much to Brandon too
Thought she was excited & proud her kid has superstar mentor, but I think it’s more that she’s overwhelmed with gratitude 🥺😭😭😭
Brandon Marsh's father passed away at the beginning of the season. A month ago, his best friend died at just 23.
It's been a very tough year for Marsh. That's a large part of why his debut today was so meaningful.

What’s next? Do we assume all Republican utterances are entirely-fabricated premises, set upon alarmist slippery slopes?
The GOP is officially the BurnAnyStandards party. They want human beings to have less truth in mind, take less meaning to heart, be less humane to each Other.

Weird because as I’m going through this thread snickering & also grateful that my name (Cira) never shows up anywhere, there it is in your display name! Ha 🤣

Philosophical Investigations by Wittgenstein. It’s so engaging and he puts to words so many vague questions that had been swimming around in my head; uses them as a launching point to really interrogate matters of perception and meaning. He uses real world examples, real contexts

Respect to the authors/ editors of this article for putting Kids Invent Stuff in the forefront here.
Would be easy to relegate it as sidenote in favor of fawning over the hosts’ cool maker creds… It’s what the response should be from a publication like Make, so thxu, for realz.

Since pitching mound was lowered in 1969:
Shohei Ohtani has the LOWEST slugging pct ALLOWED with Runners In Scoring Position, out of all pitchers (by massive margin, .228 vs .299)
AND ,
Ohtani has the HIGHEST slugging pct with Runners In Scoring Position, out of all hitters.

As a Japanese/Chinese linguist with more than 27 years of full-time experience, I can tell you that you're spouting absolute, total, complete and even racist nonsense.
The word "communication" comes from the Latin verb communicare, "share with" or "divide among". This verb is
Pho and it’s not even close, then French onion and tortilla soup or lobster bisque if it’s very lobster-y and doesn’t make me think about Jordan Peterson much

WRONG, did you even watch Angels games last year or just look at the box scores?? This isn’t opinion, this is fact. He got a little grumpy towards the end of last year because he was slumping at the plate, something ALL BASEBALL PLAYERS DO. But he was CONSTANTLY cheering team on.

I think it’s not actual leftists, I think it’s people/kids who are rejecting the current Republican/democrat environment, and this is a “cooler” way to be subversive than libertarianism. They’re acting out of rejection to norms rather than resonance with ideology

But authenticity can be found in intentionality, I believe, both in ourselves and what we can discern from others. How much that matters, well, I don’t know.
But—
