Yesterday was really a good day, because just before midnight, the Faculty of Engineering, University of Lagos thought it was the best time to release one of our exam results. Had an A in the course but the actual catch is I also had the 2nd highest score in my entire class🤭

I CANNOT stress enough the need for indigenous (for the lack of a better word) Nigerian publishing houses to acquire books by Nigerians in the country & not just republish big names from abroad. It's the only way we can bring our diverse stories to life because—

Added to it, most of the publishers here aren't doing anything for writers here. They are glorified printing presses. They mostly do versions of works by Nigerians or Africans that are popping abroad, famous, etc. They don't discover or grow nothing.

People need to stop dunking on others who choose to celebrate their evey milestone, esp when you think it's not big enough. Graduation, youth corps' program, etc. There is joy in completion & this obsession with "only big achievements = celebration" is a recipe for a dull life.

a book has ‘bumbum’ in its title, the back cover description says it's about a girl getting BBL, but God forbid the first line in the book mentions it, and therefore that is why it must be pirated.

Book title: "The year of renewed grief." People: Can we get a feel-good book for once? African writers want to finish us with grief. Book title: If I no blow this year, make I know wetin cause am. People: This reeks of mediocrity. We need seasoned writers.
