Was just stopped in Eyre Square by a Connemara man happily married with kids to a Nigerian woman for over 10 years. They feel directly threatened by the atmosphere created by Noel Grealish’s comments. He should be ashamed and apologise for the damage he has done.

Horrific situation in US where a teenager died of coronavirus after being denied treatment because he didn't have health insurance. What good are all the riches in the world when you have a society that treats people like this?

One of the many reasons I am voting Yes is to honour the memory of Savita. She came to our city and, as you can see from this beautiful video, embraced Galway with open arms. We failed her in return. We will do better. We will make amends. We will vote Yes.

At some point in Irish public debate we should discuss having fines as a % of income rather than a fixed amount. €500 is an inconvenience for some people and financially devastating for others. It’s not fair and doesn’t encourage desired behaviours evenly.

Made it up Lough Atalia Road to Hospice in 10 mins on a Galway Bike. Passed ~100 cars & saved 20 mins. If we had better cycle lanes & a Galway Bikes service that didn’t give us wet bums and sticky hands on a dry day, everyone - cyclists and motorists - would be flying around!

Polling stations are open! It’s been so inspirational to be part of this campaign. We’ve talked about how to create a new deal by fixing the public services. I really want to roll up my sleeves on health in particular. I would really appreciate your number 1 vote today.

Leitrim almost at zero covid. Would be great if they have could have tighter county border controls and then let the county open up almost completely. Would give hope to the other counties to do the same.

Thanks to @galwayad for publishing my op-ed today. Galway in 2020 would be the perfect place to try free public transport. Other EU cities are trying it and find it good for traffic, good for climate, good for economy and good for people’s lives!

Galway has potential to be one of the most cyclable cities in the world, taking huge pressure off commuting traffic. But we need safe cycle lanes that everyone from school age up can use. No reason why we can't do this if political will is there.

5. Another No side argument is that mental health grounds isn't a serious reason for a termination. Same argument was used for suicide during the Protection of Life During Pregnancy Act. This is not fair to the hundreds of thousands of people with serious mental health issues.

Very strong argument for a lockdown to get transmission rate way below 1 infection per infected person and buy us time for treatments and to prepare the health system. I think it should be called asap

405 bus from Parkmore absolutely jam packed and unsafe at 4.45pm today. We are not planning properly for what is needed. The demand for decent bus services that will improve traffic is there if we can improve frequency, reliability and affordability. Photo @gillys043
