Don’t call yourself a “first gen” lawyer when you come from an upper-middle class, predominantly white neighborhood with professional (usually college educated) parents, and you went to good or even elite universities even if your parents weren’t lawyers. It’s not appropriate.

I see #LSAT is trending and people want to get rid of it. I will go one further. Unpopular opinion: Law School as it is now benefits law professors more than students. We should switch to a model similar to that in the UK. Study law as an undergraduate, then apprentice.

#LawTwitter Leads welcomed. This is a crazy time. My Washington DC-based firm laid off all associates (there were many). My background is property/contract/commercial lit, but I was transitioning into tech/data privacy law. I spent 15 years as a tech dev (coding/databases/UX).

My son was very close to dying from a rare infection this past spring. He had to have risky open heart surgeries. When we weren’t sure if he would live or die, I tried to give him something to look forward to - like a big trip. So anyway, now I have to go to Japan.

Am I the only one who didn't find law school to be intellectually challenging? I mostly struggled with memorizing a voluminous amount of rules. And it turns out you really don't need to memorize rules in practice because, you know, reference materials exist and stuff.

My uncle passed away from COVID 19 today in Atlanta. There is no way for his wife, children, grandchildren, siblings (including my mother), and other family members to say goodbye. #StayAtHome friends.

My advice for finding joy in law school: get your money back; buy an organic farm; help yourself and others mitigate climate change/deforestation and help increase biodiversity. Teach your children tolerance and mercy towards people and the planet. 🌼✌🏼🕊

Nevada can count. Many do it for a living. This isn’t about counting. Nevada law allows for 7 days to cure ballots that do not conform (ex: a missing signature). So we’re making phone calls and knocking on doors to make sure those people get to vote. We’re #SavingDemocracy .

Reporting on average law student debt could also incentivize (1) more need-based scholarships and (2) keeping law school costs under control. Faculty speak as though they have no control over these factors.

I don’t understand. Why do people believe “law professor” and “scholar” are synonymous? Often law professors “know the law” and are trained in applying it. But “law professors” with only JDs are not necessarily trained in historical, sociological, or anthropologic methods.
