At A Level, I use 'yes/but/so' which sounds like a TWR thing, but it's not really It's a thinking prompt first, then a writing prompt It structures debate, shows students ideas are negotiable & that shifting viewpoint means different things in the text will swim into focus 1/6

🌟I’ve written before about how to toggle between micro and macro viewpoints, using the phrase ‘in the same way as’ Today I used it to focus on Mr Birling.🌟 1/5

🌟Students need a sentence structure to show their understanding that big ideas are connected to little moments.🌟🧵 I talk a lot about micro and macro. Everything we read and write moves between big & small; small & big. Being able to access the big idea is important. 1/10

Teaching The Handmaid's Tale and thinking about ecocritical and ecofeminist perspectives, we read this article about Rachel Carson's seminal text 'Silent Spring'. It generates so many good ideas, enabling the students to make brilliant links to the novel.

I’ve been using these quizzes with students who find Macbeth hard and then repeating them at intervals. Everyone is getting faster and more accurate each time. Thank you @Mathew_Lynch44 they make such a difference

@__codexterous @caffein8edsoul @FunkyPedagogy @MrTs_NQTs 1/2 I have an unseen poetry booklet, with 24/24 model essay. I'm using it in Yr 9, but would suit KS4. It's been great to teach. I can also confirm that Andy's resonant reading approach is brilliant! I adapted his ideas to make prompts to help analyse the poems....
