Lots of explicit instruction using I do, We, You do and feedback - often live in lesson.

I love edutwitter. I love speaking at conferences. But I abhor prejudice, discrimination, and hate. I teach my students to call out toxic beliefs. I feel it was right to do so. It's not a 'scam' or 'a shame'. I'm not sure what happens next. Thanks for the supportive QTs/DMs.

the results of our latest phonics screening check. 6 months since our intervention began, 99% of our students in Y7 - 9 have closed all phonics gaps, and the impact has been profound. Not just in terms of reading ability, but confidence levels, too! It's a joy to see! 💜🌟 /3

Having finished reading 'The Trouble with English' by @samlgibbs1 @z_helman AGAIN (!), I keep coming back to these two ideas when reflecting on Assessment in English: 1. Like @DavidDidau 's CREs: 'assessment should be curriculum driven'. 2. Essays = only way to assess ❌️

Our first round of results are in after 6 weeks of @LexonikST 's Advance intervention programme. A FANTASTIC average of 52 MONTHS progress in word reading ages has been made! 💜🌟 24 students @TrinityAcademyL from Y7, 8 and 9 have felt the benefit of working with @_MrLevick ! 😊

This knowledge in advance of reading is invaluable to ensure students are focused, avoid pitfalls of confusion and even helps them think about structure as they read e.g. 'when do we start to question when the stranger child is in Rosie's head' etc. /4
