If you haven't tried @FunkyPedagogy 's essay structure (see How to Teach Eng Lit) you need to give it a go! I modelled it on Mon (below), Y11 created their own on Tues, they wrote essays today - & the quality and thoughtfulness of their work astounded me.

Preparing a bit of guided reading for Y10 on Monday. I usually live model, but it takes a long time so they haven't seen many extended pieces of writing. This will be a challenge for this group, but I have drilled them in new vocabulary every lesson so I hope they can rise to it!

5 lessons on sentence-level work: 1. Introduced the sentence stems as part of WCF on AIC essay. Modelled and practised. 2. KR involving sentence stems. Modelled using these to improve an analytical para. Then they did this with an example para. 1/3

Have had a bit of time to reflect on the @NTLive production of #Othello . 1. Before the play begins Iago cleans blood from the stage. The blood looks similar to stains at the denouement - creating a cyclical structure. For all O&D's dream of a better society, nothing changes.
