No garden visits, no pod visits, no bedroom visits .... nothing
I just hope I can see dad properly one day. I want to see how he really is in the flesh, hold his hand and sort out his wardrobe and cut his nails like I used to x
Our local radio Facebook group is growing. Lots of new people this morning. Passionate about the cuts to local radio.
Join us wherever you are and discuss local radio, cuts, stations merging, loss of presenters and the BBC.
People gathering at Hylton Road local radio station to say goodbye to Malcolm Boyden. King of the airwaves. Thanks for nothing those at the top of the BBC. Sad day.
Why did they make bbc radio staff audición for their jobs again. They know what they sound like on the radio. Don't they listen. Perhaps listeners should have said who they wanted to listen too?
Popular Gardening Show axed on Sunday afternoon on Hereford and Worcester with Reg Moule. Now reduced to Friday lunchtime for half an hour when not so many people are off. Well done to Tim Davie and friends for vandalizing our Sunday local radio.

Most of our group have now switched off local radio altogether no joy without Malcolm. When you have a popular presenter like that, you don't push them out do you? You treasure them.

📣 Working class audiences want the BBC to take more risks when producing new programmes, according to new research.
Many turn to social media, podcasts and streaming for new, authentic voices over BBC content.
@MrSchmitzo
@FreebieBean
We need more regulation and accountibility for people who throw around accusations on social media. Nicola Bulley is missing and people can't help but make wild allegations with no evidence other than "trust me bro". You're making it worse for the family. Shut up Columbo.
@Crozzy1971
That's really judgmental and unkind. He was determined to take a child so he would have at some point anyway. I struggle to understand how a man can be so horrible and selfish.
Chris Burns BBC refuses to believe there have been cuts to local radio. Dosent agree with the word cuts.
Discuss radio with us voicesforlocalradio on Facebook.
Are there going to be more cuts to local radio? Waiting for the Guardian Story apparantly they need to talk to someone else first before they can print the story?
Hmmmm.

No visiting on March 8th allowed now. Care home say they have has 2 Covid cases. How is this happening when injections have been available for a while.? How to tell a father he won't be getting a visit next week that he was looking forward too?? 🤔
Nothing on of interest now on Hereford and Worcester radio at the weekends. Its all been taken away. Two local presenters used to do a popular quiz. No they are no longer there.

@StevenBartlett
About time Dragons den did an update of all the investments and what happened?Seem more interested in making programmes than giving updates.
Today 5 members of are group had a meeting with Chris Burns, Jason Horton and our station manager.
We did our best to get across the importance of local radio.

2 of our local radio station treasures. Malcolm and Reg.
Malc due to finish his morning slot on Tuesday and Reg had his show cut down to half an hour on a Friday.
Who wanted this?

very helpful that would have been wouldnt it? Sensitivity and Tact not your strong point. Lets hope nothing ever happens to your family?
That’s all folks - my time at BBC Hereford & Worcester has come to an end. Thank you to all who have been part of it over the years, especially this bunch of incredible people.
@bbchw
Almost every BBC radio station – with the exception of Radio 3, the Asian Network and World Service – experienced a drop in listeners in the last year
According to the latest

listening figures,the decline was particularly bad at

If anyone has a contact for the Guardian I would like them to report on our local meeting about the cuts to local radio. Keep the pressure up. Not sure who to contact though.
@RadioToday
That’s obscene. I really feel for former colleagues on BBC local radio who lost their jobs amidst a decimated service because the pot was supposedly empty.
Don't say "sorry"! I listened to an earlier show. Any broadcaster who thinks it's OK to do a 4 minute link to OPEN a show (a minute was TALKING OVER a classic Jimmy Ruffin song) and bases her phone in on "fractured bones" NEEDS to be critiqued by her PC and OFTEN!
**She's AWFUL
Exactly, loads of people have turned away from Hereford and Worcester since Malcolm was axed? Is this deliberante, cos it makes ko sense getting rid of your best?
@RadloFanatic
Whereas the current direction of local radio - scrapping output and sacking experienced presenters - is driving away older listeners in droves, without attracting younger listeners to replace them. The Dave and Sue concept had its faults, but it was better than the current mess
After the effect of 'Mr Bates vs the Post Office', let’s hope Toby Jones is also working on new TV dramas about water pollution, climate change, covid, PPE contracts, the refugee crisis, the cost of living, energy prices, and the NHS
Just happened to catch Newswatch this morning on BBC1 don't know who it was but woman was being interviewed about the cuts to the BBC and local radio.
Not sure if it's repeated.

I am afraid I don’t recognise or agree with your version of how the changes across Local Radio were handled.
Carol phoned BBC Hereford and Worcester this morning and said live on air how Malcolm had helped get her through a bad time. She loved hearing his voice on local radio. BBC axed him from his job. Cruel. They have no idea how important Malcolm is to people's mental wellbeing.
Malcolm Boydens last show tonight. The two Counties are in mourning. So much sadness and anger.
How do those responsible cope with causing so much upset? I couldn't.
#cutstolocalradio
Sunday morning local radio is dire. Bring back Malcolms show on a Sunday?
It's still hard to believe axing popular and familiar presenters was allowed to happen?
#bringbackourpeople
Wait and see and it dosent stop us from trying does it? together people are stronger. Our group was recognised by them at least.
They are accountable to listeners at the end of the day. They will have to improve things if their changes cause listeners to drop.
@janepotter1
Jane. They ignored their listeners.They ignored MP’s . They ignored industry professionals. They have treated staff with disdain, contempt and cruelty. They will ignore you too.
Good to hear Malcolm and Kate on Hereford and Worcester Radio. Sadly Malc is only a stand in. Jason Horton and Chris Burns are both aware of the Facebook group and know he's popular but he still lost his own show.

The idea of a spin off station to cater for the LR listeners they alienated with their savage cuts says it all
I will never forgive the way they treated Beswick,Gilly,Linda and so many more around the country
could be put into proper broadcasting. Is Huw Edwards still drawing his £430,000 salary? Totally get their priorities wrong as usual, but local radio is not 'luvvie enough' for the W1A crowd. Good luck to both of them, they will be missed on our airwaves.
Hardly anyone phoning into our local radio station now between 1 and 2pm in the week.
More proof that change of presenter has driven people away from participating.

Bet this will never get answered. This programme is beginning to lose it's appeal. Where are the updates about the previous investments. We are just bombarded with pinches and no follow ups?

Funding due to cuts must have been a consideration, but the flawed thinking to cut so much of what was great about BBC local radio was shameful. Chris Burns et al should fall on their swords and go as they are clearly so out of touch with what is local and what audiences expect.
The local gardening show on our local radio station was very popular. It was on a Sunday afternoon for a couple of hours. Its now been demoted to a Friday lunchtime for half an hour when not so many people are listening. We did mention this to CB on Monday!!
#localradio
On our group re local radio cuts we have a well written and put together piece about the cuts to local radio.
The suggestion is we send to our local political representatives in regard to the upcoming election
Will anyone else be sending anything?

You've ruined Sunday mornings for people in Worcestershire by taking Malcolm Boyden off. Nobody listens on a Sunday morning now, plus you removed him in the week. All he has is 2 hours a week in a sports show. Shameful.
“The BBC continues to take a torch to its wonderful local radio network.”
The BBC will do a great job covering the Euros, Wimbledon & the election - but it does need to look at where and how it spends money so it is for the benefit of ALL audiences & doesn’t exclude some.
From our Facebook Page.
Can’t listen any more to Hereford & Worcester Radio . Looked forward every day to my fave radio shows with Malcolm Boyden , it felt like being part of a family. Why did you change everything BBC ? 1/2
Late Night Jo, an all England show foisted on BBC Local Radio Listeners is really disappointing.
Talking over the opening track about "producer Mel" and the pollen count is disrespectful and unprofessional. Apparently it's Friday so we get an hour of dogs ! Reaches for off switch
A BBC Local Radio "controller" says the audience loss is "unprecedented" ... but SHE helped make the UNPRECEDENTED CHANGES to BBC Local Radio!
QUESTION: What does it take for the BBC to sack managers responsible for disastrous changes!?
Sad for the demise of 'Question Of Sport' after over 50 years, the BBC's crusade for inclusivity has taken a perfectly good programme with over 5 million viewers, and left it with less than 1 million in a couple of years.
If it ain't broke, don't try to fix it. Foolish people.

What would be in the public interest would be to re-instate a full local service -with local news and updates and presenters that the local audiences connect to.
