@mikejgr
whoever has been handling the negotiations should be fired and never allowed near another at this point. Absolutely crazy that we're 6 months in and we don't have a list with proof of life for everyone taken. playing us for fools - puts everyone in danger going forward too
@peterrhague
That's exactly what they're expected to do/will have had to have done at their viva (assuming they have at least a PhD), and on a much narrower and more detailed topic than that which will come up on a podcast...
@JamesMathe11071
@yacineMTB
Open source means that you're not stuck with proprietary parts or ink and in general means you can maintain and fix it yourself. It's a big reason why consumer grade 3d printers took off and got good. There are tons of open source hardware companies that do great
@micsolana
@therealmck3nzie
100%. I had this argument with someone a few months ago. Politicians salaries need to be commensurate with top corporate jobs to attract top talent.
I'd even bet that they'd save that much in inefficiencies that they identify and eliminate in the existing system
@JVPBayArea
@SFJCRC
You can literally see that this Palestine supporter had taken this woman's poster (it says "Hamas must go") and the woman was trying to get it back.
Don't try to pretend that this wasn't in response to the physical action taken by the Palestinian supporter
@CJHandmer
Elon said in his update yesterday that they're going to build a moon base "because we might as well" (or something to that effect). Mad that this is basically a side project for SpaceX when it's been out of reach for so long. 1,000's of starships pa is going to change everything.
@DrChrisCombs
Can't tell if this is a serious post ๐ฌ
One possible advantage I can see of having entirely unique tiles, would be that you can't put one in the wrong place because it just wouldn't fit
@andrewmccalip
@KennethCassel
I feel like if this was really real, the trade papers would have been all over it, but a week later, this is the first I've heard of it.
@YonahLieberman
This is incorrect. The story relates how the king couldn't repeal his initial order allowing the attack on the Jews. but he could write a second decree, permitting the Jews to defend themselves. This verse is recording the outcome of that battle - it's not a massacre as you imply
@BallouxFrancois
You do not know anything about this topic. 20% of Israel's population are non-jewish Arabs, who have equal rights and hold senior positions in society, including the Knesset (parliament) and supreme court judges. One of whom sent a Jewish former prime minister to jail.
@afalkhatib
He might not want to go to elections, but even if he wasn't prime minister, this war would continue. It's a unity government and you're kidding yourself if you think it's all down to Bibi
@peterrhague
I still remember the talk he gave to the Royal Aeronautical Society back then (2013). Only has like 75k views and the pre interview has 29k

@micsolana
How do you answer
@micsolana
's point. Why would anyone with any talent or ability want to do the job instead of doing a job where they can be paid 10x more?
@AmrAlsiyabi
Unbiased? You picked two known anti Israeli personalities and try to paint that as unbiased is laughable. Next time include some actual pro-israeli voices, for contrast if you really are interested in presenting an unbiased post
@DrChrisCombs
Aren't the SpaceX tiles more of a YOLO let's see what happens at this point rather than being the main focus of the test? Love to see it. Whatever happens it's going to be interesting..
@stefanroberts
Have you tried a boiling water tap? kind of looks like a soap dispenser attached to the sink. Having used a kettle all my life, the instant hot water tap was a massive game changer in the kitchen when I used it on vacation. It made using the kettle feel like boiling on the stove
I follow so many interesting founders working on stuff to disrupt manufacturing (as well as other industries). If even half of them pull off their vision, they're going to wreck the incumbents. Feels like we're building to a wave of hardware disruption similar to that of software
These "Factory of the Future" articles from consultants always miss all of the disruptive mfg. tech being built now.
They think in IoT terms "computers will replace paper", but not "computers will change factories themselves".
@BasedBeffJezos
It's ok, we gonna turn the Moon into silicon chips and solar panels. The night sky will be lit up by a gloriously shiny, solar powered chip fab
@Noahpinion
No. There is ZERO CHANCE that Israel cedes one ounce of control over the west bank after what happened. It cannot risk another Gaza there. Hamas' actions have torpedoed any chance for an independent Palestinian state for the foreseeable future
@YoelTIsrael
This would be a disaster if we let western nations be defeated by Islamists. Way worse than if current left leaning governments decide to boycott. Reality is leaders like poilievre, wilders and milei are becoming more popular and likely to win all over the West.
@peterrhague
There's a lot of thinly and overt anti semitism that surrounds many pro Palestinian demonstrations. It is consistent enough not to be a coincidence.
Last night, a screaming mob of Hamas supporters chased a Jew through the streets of London.
It's disgraceful that these animals are not just free to celebrate the massacre of 1,000 Jews, but free to intimidate British Jews.
Stay safe people.
@spacehabs
Couldn't we test this with 2 Starships via a tether at different lengths? That doesn't sound like it would be too far away to achieve once there are a large number in operation
@bps_space
Just have a big spike to embed it into the ground on landing like a giant rocket powered lawn dart. Just make sure you have a helmet
#HealthAndSafety
Youโll be hard pressed to find more knowledgeable experts on international law and how it effects Israel in its response to the Hamas massacre, than barrister Natasha Hausdorff! Brilliant explanation here on BBC.
@OGTaylorB
@Aella_Girl
@spencerforhire
The land was given the moniker of Palestine by the Romans after their conquest to humiliate the Jewish nation. There's no connection between the historic Philistines and modern day Palestinians
@idontwa86202030
@mpdimino
that "it's the most densely populated area on the planet" makes it even more impressive. Do you have a comparable figure for other similar conflicts?
@mehdirhasan
The stats in that article weren't normalised (for example based on miles driven or number of cars using the systems) so it isn't making a proper/fair comparison between them.
@AbbyMartin
Disgusting that you'd even consider using the phrase final solution in connection with this.
Oh, what's that? 2 hostages were just rescued from Rafah, no way that Israel backs down now.
Civilians will be evacuated as per the rest of the strip.
Two Israeli hostages rescued during an overnight mission in Rafah.
During a joint operation between the IDF, ISA, and Israel Police, two Israeli hostages from Kibbutz Nir Yitzhak were rescued: Fernando Simon Marman (60) and Louis Har (70).
They are both in good medical
@amasad
Here is a literal IDF tank protecting evacuees. If the IDF were trying to commit genocide, that tank would be more than able. The fact that Israel has many opportunities to do so but doesn't take them, shows that they are not targeting civilians
The video Hamas is trying to hide: Palestinians refuse to be used as human shields and escape south, away from Hamasโ terror hub.
Testimonies of a Palestinian woman saying Israeli forces were shooting, but not at the civilians (could be at Hamas attacking at the civilians).
@DSqirel3518
@HilzFuld
Heres a screenshot and a link to the actual source quoted (so you or anyone else can look for themselves), that shows the source saying the number was less than 1.25%.
Now you know.
@CJHandmer
We have the experiment already with the ban on sulphur on shipping - we're already seeing a rise as a result of removing the Sulphur emissions from a large patch of ocean
@Robotbeat
I also love that companies like
@GraviticsInc
and
@K2SpaceCo
(plus probably a whole bunch still in stealth) that have already got the ball rolling on post-Starship sized payloads so we don't have to hang around for a decade before we can make the most of it's capabilities
@CooperZurad
The whole argument of the humanoid robot crew is that the word is already designed for humans, so let's design a robot that can interact with it.
Interesting that we are now emulating the "made in his image" line
BTW, the Keurig is already a super optimised coffee robot ;)
@elgindy_
Hamas is the most civilian embedded combat force in history and throughout has been launching rockets at Israeli cities. Head of Urban Warfare at West Point wrote that Israel has done more than any other military in history to prevent civilian casualties
Hey
@BellikOzan
@peterrhague
. Is there any info on what the down mass capability of Starship is? Is anyone building anything to take advantage of this yet? If it can land on Mars with enough payload to build a city, then surely it can bring down many tons from space to earth too?
@thegarrettscott
Yes! Wish it was also more project based instead of subject. Have learned way more getting hands on with a project requirement than via lectures (though you do need the base knowledge - would be more reinforced if they were linked and would be more reflective of real world work)
Request for startup/product
Please can someone make a torque wrench tap wrench that will beep at me to stop before I break the damn tap.
"Asking for a friend" (it me) who totally never breaks taps ๐
@noamyuran
@EinatWilf
Think about how you would feel if the Israeli government's official position was Israel from the river to the sea (instead of being willing to negotiate a 2 state solution) and then reconsider your post. It is entirely reasonable for this demand to be dropped by the Palestinian
@mehdirhasan
This isn't a gotcha, Israel built large underground bomb shelter(s) for the hospital as it does with every hospital and large infrastructure project. Malls, cinemas & supermarkets also have bomb shelters. It knows Hamas repurposed them to use as their HQ.
@ZachWeiner
There are a lot of things being worked on simultaneously. Just check out the avatar in the video, I didn't realize it was artificial at first. I'm sure there's also a huge % of the money going into infrastructure to eliminate latency
@DrPhiltill
@wissewords
Starship is basically the first embodiment of that philosophy. Try doing a mars mission with SLS or 'traditional' mission architecture Vs a fleet of 100s of starships all going at the same time. Very different set of possibilities
@elidourado
I hope there's a team of smart people following him and trying to figure out how he does it. One Elon has been amazing for world progress, imagine if we had a program that would identify 100s of top minds around the world & taught them his methodology & critical thinking skills
@thegarrettscott
Software doesn't come close to the satisfaction of a physical object that you have willed into existence using your mind, and very often literal blood, sweat & tears, that performs a useful task for civilization, however small or big that may be.
@codyaims
100% equity is the dream.
Feels like early exits in a sale also aren't given as much credit. You can put more in your pocket that way than riding the company all the way to a late exit. Unless you plan it to be your forever company, it's not a bad choice as it's made out to be
@CJHandmer
Starship will do this to the companies pivoting to medium launch once it's operational.
SpaceX needs every dollar they can get their hands on to fund their Mars plans. They must be confident there's not going to be a market for F9/FH class rockets for them to plan to sunset them

OpenAI's leap into the physical world is imminent, as they are returning to their first goal: developing human-level dexterous robots!
@peterrhague
Already startups are working on Starship sized payloads so that they will be "in position" when the capability comes online.
2 examples from the top of my head are
@GraviticsInc
and
@K2SpaceCo
@leekern13
If you haven't read it, "In Ishmael's House'" by Martin Gilbert is a sad read about the experience of the Jews in Muslim lands. Wasn't the rosy picture that is often painted of peaceful coexistence.
