At the same time, we have our own unique culture we developed thru out time. i.e. AAVE, negro spirituals ( the origins of blk ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ music), roasting, soul food, etc.

I've been a Homelessness Prevention Case Manager in rural S. GA for a month. I can confirm overwhelmingly the majority of the homeless population is black ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ (Freedmen). Also, our #'s have to be far worst than reported national 40%. HUD counts staying w/others as not homeless.

@kennymxu U left out Black ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ ancestors were used as chattel slaves. They were used as a commodity to be sold & traded. This created the ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ economy & wealth. It's the reason why the Confederacy put our ancestors on their currency. We held special value that no other group could produce.

The Indiana Freeman Newspaper was in circulation from 1884 to 1927 (43 years). Booker T. Washington was a major contributor to the publication. Further proof that Freedmen/Freeman was an intergenerational term.

Agree w/ Marcel. When I was in ๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ญ I learned abt the ppl's history, politics, & culture. I respected their tribal customs in the different regions I was in. I educated the locals on what it's like to be a Freedmen & blk in ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ. I didn't try to erase or tether on to their history.
