Manuscript done; contract signed! Our book is finally on its way. It’s about Lava Jato, one of the biggest shocks to LatAm politics in recent times, the institutional changes that made it possible & what voters make of ‘really existing’ anticorruption.
We're delighted to announce that Profs
@egocantos
& Robin Harding have been recognised in this year's

Recognition of Distinction Scheme & been awarded the title of full professor. Congratulations Ezequiel and Robin! 🎉

This household has sent a combined total of two book ms out for review in as many days. There’s a non trivial chance reviewers will hate them, but a little celebration was still in order.
Juan Masullo & I wrote down some thoughts on how to align interviewing techniques w/ process tracing methods. The review experience was very productive because it forced us to adapt our argument to different approaches to process tracing. It’s open access

The new issue of Qualitative & Multi-Method Research, our second as editors, is now out! A theme that runs throughout is the importance of training political scientists in qualitative methods and increasing overall levels of “qualitative literacy.”
Junto con
@sboteroc

En version corta, este capítulo siempre me pareció política comparada "at its best":

Happy to see this in print

When I moved to the UK 9 yrs ago, I remember meeting a politician at an event who was genuinely puzzled by the fact that as a Pol Scientist I would take an interest in the judiciary. Fast forward to 2023 and the Supreme Court has the entire British establishment on tenterhooks…

New working paper! We use ML to identify candidate traits associated w/ real-world corruption & then manipulate this information in two survey experiments to see whether voters’ tacit “feel for the game” allows them to root out corrupt politicians w/o telling them who is corrupt.
Today in my Qual methods class we will be discussing these two important books and the academic/political debate they are part of. Excited to see what students have to say about source selection & interpretation. Thanks
