What’s the difference between an agency that charges $500 vs $5000/ month?
Last week I had a call with a potential company that wants to drive more revenue in 2024 through SEO.
They are in the clothing business, but B2B
(yes B2B works for SEO!)
The CEO tells me “This
After generating over $52M from SEO, here are the 'lucky 7' tools I use to dominate search.

Fundamental part of optimizing for search is finding the right keywords to go after.
Have really enjoyed engaging with folks here - time for a re-introduction!
I grew up in the midwest, left for Boston to attend college.
And I’ve always been fascinated by how people make money on the web.
So I started researching “how to make money online”.
And ran across
Here’s a little hack I use to find great keywords to rank for that will drive revenue.
Most people waste their SEO resources targeting hyper competitive keywords that, unless you have crazy high domain rank may be difficult to rank for.
Let’s say I was in the software space.
Dedicating my first tweet since my prior account

I’ve listened to it 3 times and a few things that I found fascinating:

Here's how we outrank sites like Walmart, Amazon, Trip Advisor, and Macy’s.
Steal this process to outrank the big boys:
Every few days I hop on a call with a founder who has just raised some money and looking to scale.
“How can I outrank Expedia?”
The key isn’t targeting the
We scaled this brands organic revenue by 122% by deleting blog posts.
That wasn’t a typo.
Content is foundational to organic search.
It shows google that your site is topically relevant.
It also helps you build mid and top of funnel traffic which drives revenue.
But what
Here’s why I believe Local Businesses will WIN with Google Search Generative Experience (SGE)
And why your business should pay attention and DOUBLE DOWN NOW.
Are you scared of Google Search Generative Experience?
Chances are, you are like most of my friends and are.

Can you guess the brand?
If you guessed a large travel brand that has dominated the SERPs over the years, you guessed right.

I had the pleasure of sitting down with our client Expedia and the Head of Organic Search,
If your SEO agency is doing these 3 things - run!
1. Measuring the wrong metrics
There are short term and long term metrics that your agency should be measuring.
I was talking to a company and they were measuring rankings on a weekly basis.
Do you realize how much volatility
This company was BLOWING $40K/MONTH.
How?
By working with a big bloated agency.
I don’t want to name names, but let’s just say it’s a firm that is all too common in the venture circles…
And sadly, SEO firms are the most common I see this happen.
I was meeting with a friend
@joelgascoigne
Really impressive Joel! Curious if you have written anything on managing meetings / moving the needle while everyone is in different time zones
One of the BIGGEST issues I see brands make is missing search intent.
What do I mean by this?
There is a difference between keywords that are transaction keywords and informational keywords.
Take for example the keyword " vegan cookies".
Versus the keyword "healthy vegan
I added $1.3M in revenue for this DTC brand.
And I didn't write any content or build any backlinks.
Here’s how:
1. Re-optimized money pages
This brand was simply ranking for the wrong things that were too competitive.
Step 1 was finding the right keywords to rank for.
This
Growing your organic revenue takes time if you don't know what you are doing.
Here's how we moved this brand's money pages in 45 days and got them real revenue fast.
- Keyword Research
We first started by prioritizing this brand's collections and product pages.

🚨 Breaking News: An anonymous source just leaked the entire Google algorithm.
I had AI read through all 2500 pages, and then I picked out the most critical elements that you can implement immediately.
Here are the main takeaways and what you need to focus on for your brand.
Want to hear the one mistake that costs software and e-commerce companies millions of dollars in costs and opportunity?
Hiring writers before organic search experts.
I literally see this again, again and again.
What do writers do?
They start publishing a bunch of content.
People are blowing AI in organic search out of proportion.
And it’s hurting their business.
Let me explain.
I had a call with a potential customer that talked about how throwing up a bunch of AI content got his friend a bunch of traffic and wanted to do the same.
There was
Do you know the 1 most important factor that decides ranking 5 versus 1?
Authority.
What drives authority?
Link building.
BUT, do you know the way agencies BLOW clients money?
Building links to the WRONG keywords that, frankly, a site may never or have a SHOT at ranking for.
A big misconception with E-commerce brands is that you need unique products for each collections page.
Steal my collections structure for better collections rankings and more organic $!
Today ranking collections are a much more competitive and easier way to get more organic
Last week I spoke to 30 of Limited Supply's 7-9 figure entrepreneurs about growing their organic revenue.
And these 6 items were repetitive golden nuggets.
1. Add content to collections pages
But a collections page is not a blog post - why and where would you add content?
Google released Google's SGE or AI Overviews (AIO).
Here's what you need to do to take advantage of this change:
1) Write for different stages of the content journey.
Gone are the days of just picking random, top-of-funnel keywords.
You need to prioritize certain keywords
@sulemanali
Couldn’t agree more. The compounds they are building give them a moat that other telemedicine companies that are selling just minoxidil or finasteride don’t get. AOVs are also much higher. And they have the brand.
Someone LEAKED this factor in the Google search algorithm and it's been a game changer for the brands we work with.
This is what it is and how to apply it to your business.
In last weeks leak, Google called out fresh and unique content as a critical factor to drive organic
@davegerhardt
I’m hearing a very similar sentiment. Especially with the changes with search, it’s making it not just an exciting, but critical space for businesses to double down on 🚀
We helped this brand 2.5x their organic traffic.
And we didn't write a single new blog post.
And to top it off, they were only live in 3 markets.
Here's what we did instead.

Sites like CNN, USA Today, LA Times are being penalized by Google.
Here's how you need to take advantage of it if you are investing in organic search.
As of this week, Google has been handing out manual actions to a bunch of specific sites that were running sponsored content.
"Penalization territory" is a zone I see more and more companies getting into.
Here's what it is, and how we undid this for this brand and set them up for rapid growth.
Penalization territory is a term we use to say how risky a company is at getting penalized by Google.
@ericosiu
Having experienced execs is impactful, but the right stage and timing. I’ve tend to find 1 maybe 1.5 steps ahead is best (I.e. someone could’ve been an amazing vp of sales at brex at $500M in rev and be horrible for your $5M ARR biz)
We said "no" to these 3 companies in July to work with our agency.
Here's why we did it (it was NOT because of budget!)
The biggest mistake that many B2B companies make is taking on every client that comes in through the door.

2 things:
1. some sponsored content pages are getting clapped, and product/collections are increasing in the SERPs
2. E-commerce stores are being more favored by Google / getting a boost
@jasonlk
I like the point you mentioned about marketing the company vs oneself. Does not mean don’t prevent your CMO from building a personal brand, which can propel the company forward but within moderation of the overarching goal.
4. Link Building
I cannot stress enough how important link building has been for this campaign.
We started building roughly 10 links a month and have increased that slowly as we built authority.
We focused on pages like the homepage, money pages, and content.
We focused
