Watched the first episode of Madam Koi Koi. The story builds up well, as the characters. A few takes: 1. This is a story that should have been a movie long befere now. It's good to have it now. I think the writers have tried to maintain an authenticity, not aping Hollywood.

A young writer experiences a CS Lewis moment. The pendulum of faith sometimes swings funnily or uncannily. In the end, Lewis had this to say: "I believe in Christianity as I believe that the sun has risen: not only because I see it, but because by it I see everything else."

A scary thing that's happened to our poetry is that many poets today are addressed as poets or claim to be one (and accepted) before they become actual poets or learn to be one. It used to be that writers stayed away from poetry because they knew it wasn't for everyone.

Dear editors and writers, it is JHERI CURLS, not jerry curls or jerri coils, and any other variations. And the verb, when used to describe the hairdo is "curl/curled," not "coil/coiled." The latter works sometimes but it has a more scientific connotation not very related to hair.

In my opinion, reviews that set out to putdown a work are often always empty. The writer just gives a rundown of letdowns and the essay becomes languid and boring. For me, I better leave a bad work where it is than write about it. But if you must write about it, show some range.
