Knowledge Maps have become a core focus in our classrooms. Some real easy wins: workload ⬇️, retrieval ⬆️ and links ⛓between subjects and to pupils’ understanding of the world 🌎. Developing understanding and identity.

Reflecting on a very busy, but incredibly productive and positive start to the year. Curriculum has inspired staff and pupils and loving the new ‘Knowledge Map’ displays developing across KS2. Thanks

for the inspiration!

The British Academy has awarded its 2023 President’s Medal to a podcast: The Rest is History, for the first time ever. The prize recognises the podcast’s work to promote and popularise history to a global audience.
Congratulations!

A lovely, whistle-stop tour of St Mattias in Bethnal Green today- thank you
@ClareSealy
for sharing your journey. Confirms we are on the right track! Lots of ideas to further develop our feedback and no marking system!

Would love to know how Junior school Year 3s compare to those at primary schools. We are seeing some of the lowest performance we have ever seen.

First half term as Headteacher ✅ It’s been a busy one, that’s for sure, but I’ve got through it! Whilst sometimes have been a wild ride- it’s been a pleasure to see the growth and progress already. Looking forward to what’s next!
Mind starting to drift to the upcoming KS2 SATs and this being my first time administering as Head, any tips/advice/mistakes you’ve learnt from that will help ease the nerves of “getting it right?”

Very impressed by the scientific 🧪 knowledge and language throughout these Year 6

@HappyHead74
Definitely how it should be. If things are in place and what you do day in, day out, then the whole experience should be straightforward. Had a very calm inspection in November and was asking myself the same thing that first night!
Starting Headship, I never realised how great it would be to network with other Heads. Great day with other newbies, talking leadership, governance and school improvement. Thanks
@LEADTSHub
for organising this group!

Come join us! I know I might be biased- but we are a great school with great people in it. Join

A fantastic day seeing the brilliant work of
@CDPS_Southwark
& finally meeting
@Michael_cdps
in person! We’re so pleased to be working with such a forward-thinking & supportive school. If you haven’t, check out the work they’re doing on
@WellbeingbyCDPS
- it’s incredible.
Feeling like the changes we have made and are continually making are having an impact. Great to hear about the research behind it from the

Always a great way to end a long day- in a room full of data geeks let by the amazing

Cannot wait to show off our school and it’s progress at our

It all depends how it’s run. We’ve seen tremendous growth in both love of reading & progress, but we are also mindful not to be too restrictive. A child wants to read a book that is considered too hard? Let them give it a go- as long as systems are in place for them to change

YES! Totally agree. The amount of time it takes for teachers to do unnecessary writing assessments takes away from planning high quality lessons! The books should speak for themselves.

A1: We block subjects like History/Geog/Art/DT so every afternoon will be history for a number of weeks (PE/music/computing still weekly). Supports staff workload and children can focus on depth of understanding. Wouldn’t look back!

Working in a school is an amazing thing- sometimes the highs are so high, but the lows can feel consuming. Grateful to work with such a supportive team and excited about things to come!

It’s difficult to have these conversations when inft schs won’t engage. Or give you any kind of info about the pupils. Or share their books/data. Unfortunately jnr schs are, much of the time, left with high progress targets and little info about pupils entering their school.
Really looking forward to seeing

This is so weird- we’ve literally just launched this this week in our Junior school. Each teacher is leading an area they’re passionate about and it’s mixed age. We will change the offer each half term. The children are so excited!
