Can I take you back to an earlier point you made. You suggested that you knew what the people of Southport thought- to help me understand, how do you come by this knowledge?
I love the way people assume that Headteachers get briefed before Govt announcements. No, we read the news like everyone else - then try and implement whatever follows...
@GillianKeegan
Hi Gillian,
I’m a state school headteacher. The chronic underfunding and the mess which is SEND are more pressing concerns than whether tax is charged on Private schools.
Thanks,

So you have watched some videos of people shouting at Keir Starmer and have concluded you understand the views of the people of Southport?
How many videos have you watched?
At a time of so much pain and anguish to watch a video or two, conclude you now have sense of what people

This isn’t about what people think of you Katherine, you have expressed a view which aligns with the politics of the far right and appears to justify the actions of thugs who attacked a Mosque.

No Paul, it is a question of a woman making a decision about her own body and feeding a hungry baby. If this leads you to feel discomfort that is unfortunate, never mind.
Help, has anyone got a checklist for checklists? I need a check list to check that my list has all the correct checks. All help would be greatly appreciated! (Could also do with a check list to check my checklist’s checklist - but that is another post)
@MartinSLewis
The class collection idea is probably repackaging the issue of parents who feel under pressure to buy gifts they can’t afford as parent whatsapp group etc equally exert pressure.
I am yet to meet a teacher who expects gifts.
I have read on here and been told about two HTs who are stepping back from headship. One I know personally an inspirational HT who will be a loss to her school and the profession.
Will things change for the better?

If you are attacking
@Miss_Snuffy
- please stop. If you don’t agree with her- fine. Don’t follow her, block her. But to attack her, worse still her school in really not on. I would say the same regardless of who it was and whether I agreed or disagreed with them.
Commitment of our profession- this is the queue at Wavertree Tennis Centre and it snakes around the car park. All school staff giving up their Saturday for an hour or more to get tested.

Katherine, what do you know of Southport or its people? Where and how do you hear their voice and feel best placed to articulate their views?
You are free to opine on multiculturalism if that is your want - though you may consider timing.
Given the costs of administering KS2 SATs, the impact the rumoured school closure would have on learning and the validity of any data they produce. Is there a case for SATs not taking place this academic year?

On the 9th of August I first tweeted about a Deputy Heads / Assistant Heads well-being whatsapp group. Today there are 271 national and international members! There are 17 subgroups covering Primary, Secondary, Special, DSL, Behaviour, NPQH, NPQSL, Faith, Curriculum, Personal
I admit I was an extreme sceptic of
@CharteredColl
when it all started - but the Impact Journal and access to the research database is worth every penny. Well done
@AlisonMPeacock
you have done great things. Proud to be a part of it.
So Deputy / Assistant Head wellbeing group is currently 179 members, cross phase, national and international.
Sub groups for: Curriculum, Behaviour, Assessment, Faith School, DSL, Personal Development, Sixth Form, Primary, Secondary, NPQH and NPQSL.
The group grows daily - if
I have to say I'm fed up of being a headteacher right now. I can't win (more than ever). Some will agree, some will disagree. Some will applaud and some will throw mud that will stick longer than ever. I just want everyone to consider we are human.
@BarristerSecret
Hi, I am English in an American movie, there is a good chance that I am the baddie. I will either be mildly eccentric or criminally insane. My dress code is straight out of My Fair Lady.
It seems sad to say, but if we don’t support
@CharteredColl
- then we may lose it and for whatever faults it may have, it is a good thing to be part of.
I feel sorry for

The profession is tired and frankly cynical. We’ve had 14 years of politics, ineptitude and personal hobby horses - cast your mind to The Blob, COVID and Roman Numerals as good examples.
Even steps which were geared to prove
@BarryNSmith79
Aren’t chn reflecting society? There is now a far greater emphasis and understanding of mental health / suicide awareness. Also not sure having a bad day and trauma are the same thing.
Looks legit - some of best educational debates are with people who’s profile pic is them in their underwear... probably wants to chat about Leadership or Assessment or something...
This is to formally announce that I have decided to prorogue school two days after school returns. This is will be in my, I mean the school’s best interests as holidays will be really cheap then.
To be clear, I disagree with
@Miss_Snuffy
regarding her multiculturalism post.
I disagree that she understands the thoughts of “ordinary people”.
I question what this term means or the channels she has accessed to garner these views.
I disagree with her analysis.
I disagree
So, I am have been up since 3:45am and went to bed after midnight- thank you so much

for planning and communicating this as well as you did. Sleep, who needs sleep???

it would be fair to say that commenting on

Also remember “Who put the colours in the rainbow” - with the line about “...whales and snails and quails, hogs and frogs and dogs” - think I giggled through the first time I heard it.
To end the tyranny of numbers, given the huge variance in performance of small cohorts - which is most Primary schools, and the focus on disaggregated results is a hugely positive step for which
@amanda_spielman
@HarfordSean
should be applauded - hugely positive step.
