‘Brain fog’ is better called SARS associated neurocognitive disorder (SAND). Just like the HIV equivalent HAND, it comes in three stages: asymptomatic, mild, dementia. Same as after SARS 1, you wouldn’t have needed to see billions infected to know the basics.

Today I learned that I have completely underestimated and misunderstood brain-fog post COVID - and it is terrifying. In my mind I kind of had this impression that COVID brain-fog was just feeling a little bit forgetful or feeling very tired, and my god I was very, very wrong.

Good grief. We knew decades ago that human coronaviruses (here HCoV-OC43) are naturally neuroinvasive and neurotropic and associated with diseases like Alzheimer's. It wasn't necessary to infect billions of unwilling patients to find out, reading this paper would have sufficed.

Climate change is the Unthinkable, a problem of language and law. As SARS-CoV-2 will show, those elected to avert disaster lack the training to do so. Our challenge is to learn to think (and apparently, lead) in a finite world. Learn fast, be well 🙏☕️.

See how the Arctic is burning and melting, with extraordinary heat perennially present in Siberia. All this will inevitably go - the ice within years. Few economists, lawyers & politicians understand what is at stake. They literally can't. No one taught them to think differently.

How long no sports after SARS-CoV-2? “3 months none, then the next 3 months little sport.” That’s not me reading some article, but an experienced MD few patients will be lucky enough to ever meet saying it. - You see how “2-3 COVID-19 infections per year” is unsustainable policy.

Fever is no main symptom of new SARS variant EG.5.1. That’s bad - harder to test & trace. The immune system becomes permissive, allowing SARS chronic infection. Expect more bacterial, fungal, other viral infection.

One of the popular myths of SARS is that the virus kills. No it doesnt; it even extends (!) the lifecycle of the cell, a common strategy employed by cancers and other viruses. People should really read human coronavirus science. We’re deep in trouble. 🤷🏻‍♀️🤷‍♂️☕️

1. SARS-CoV-2 changes the host chromatin (=DNA and protein mix) via the nucleocapsid, Orf8, Orf10 IF expressed, and further viral proteins. HIV-1 Tat behaves similarly. In simple words, Covid-19 reprograms the host's mitochondrial metabolism and epigenome.

We have a lightning fast new SARS-CoV variant with key nucleocapsid mutation N:Q229K, but there is absolutely no discussion whatsoever? Can this be true?

1. The SARS-CoV-2 nucleocapsid can mediate RNA or DNA entering cells by ACE2-independent, receptor mediated endocytosis, and express genes. It is enhanced by RANTES (CCL5), a chemokine induced by N, and lactate, produced in hypoxia, to cause more damage.

Anti-vaccine disinformation has broken many people’s minds. I mention two documented SARS infections here and nothing about vaccines, yet anti-vaccine folk invariably jump to “it’s the vaccine”. The virus found the weak, sweet spots in society. Fascinating

Where are all our "Prepare for the next pandemic" friends, now that the next pandemic is here? They had no trouble ignoring the direct link between SARS-CoV-1 and -2, so it should be no trouble at all to treat BA.2.86 as a new pandemic. Serological distance is the same.

Alexa, show me what sampling microclusters look like please. I'm still just totally fucking gobsmacked by how lightly people are treating BA.2.86, ya know as if it's nothing when it almost puts you back to square one. Stupid twats. What in God's name is wrong with you all 😂.

Newer study by the same author, @zalaly . - To draw on the vast existing literature, we propose using SARS-CoV-2 associated neurocognitive damage (SAND), in parallel to the HIV equivalent (HAND). We’ve been saying this for a while now, we’re rapidly running out of time.

1. The structural parallels of SARS-CoV-2 and HIV-1 were known already 20 years ago, from SARS-CoV-1. Yet COVID-19 policy and even most scientists ignore these parallels, failing to learn key lessons. Fundamentally, genetic recombination drives both pandemics—two typical articles

1. We enter the strange transition period before population-wide damage from SARS-CoV-2 hits. GPs/gynecologists now trivialize pre/perinatal COVID-19 infection because they don't read science. Share research to help them learn. Maternal chronic immune activation harms the embryo.

Did anyone summarize gynecologist views on the risk of acute or previous SARS-CoV-2 inf in pregnancy to mother &/or unborn? “Most of my patients last year had COVID and they were all fine”, one told me. Not my role to argue her ofc, but it doesn’t match the studies I’ve seen. 😫
