The factory of the future will be run by a man with a dog. The man will feed the dog, and the dog will bite the man if he tries to touch anything. - somebody

As a foster parent, I deal with some biological parents that by any objective measure are truly horrible. Every single one loves their child.
@dieworkwear
I had a classmate in my MBA program who always wore classy button down oxford cloth shirts with initials on the pocket. When I pointed out they weren't his initials, he explained he bought them all from a dry cleaner when somebody abandoned his shirts.
@RSGAT
Welcome fellow libertarian. It is all security theater. Once we secured the cockpit doors and decided not to negotiate with terrorists, the problem was solved. Let people carry guns on board.
@ArmandDoma
The laws that congress put on the books are all still valid. Courts will still read the laws and apply them as written. They just won't give special deference to bureaucrats.
@realEstateTrent
Instead of $20 minimum wage, allow a $20 untaxed wage - get paid with a 1099, no tax taken out of any kind either side. Far better for both employees and employers, less government intrusion.
@RSGAT
Years ago I was charged with fishing without a license. As I entered the courtroom, a sign said lawyers one way and defendants the other. My brain froze.
@wanyeburkett
The value in most businesses is customers: people who want to buy what you have. For landlords, customers have overall negative value: An empty building is generally worth more than a fully leased one. A key skill is getting rid of bad customers, not finding customers.

Learned BASIC at Dartmouth in 1971. Floating point variables were A, B,C all the way up to Z. Strings were A$, B$. G$ was "G string" and we thought it was hilarioius.

The USC student was from the barrio - both his parents had been gang members. There is a reason homeless do this by USC instead of the barrio.
@LordOfTheYeti1
There are 120 measles cases in the US so far. What do you predict by the end of the year? I will come back on December 31 and laugh at you.
In 1972, I joined the gay fraternity at Dartmouth. I didn't realize that until my 20th reunion. Bros, where are your wives? We always won the intrafraternity play, ice sculpture and singing competitions. I am still not allowed to talk about the Goat Room.

Your 13 year old daughter learned a lesson - don't tell mom everything. If you are uncomfortable in a situation, call for a pickup. Otherwise, live your life.

How often are they useful in that capacity? I bet in the US they save about 1 life per year. Replace with one attendant to maintain order, everybody brings a bag lunch, lower fares.

A Scandinavian economist once said to Milton Friedman, ‘In Scandinavia, we have no poverty’. Milton Friedman replied, ‘That’s interesting, because in America, among Scandinavians, we have no poverty, either’

If neither Trump nor Biden can get to 270 votes, it goes to the House, where each state gets one vote. Trump wins the House easily - most states have Republican majorities in the House.
@tylerhnorris
If your primary concern is climate change, don't worry about building US reactors. Korea, India and China can build them for about $2,500/kw. A reactor there saves just as much coal as a reactor here. They are willing to take the safety risks, we aren't
@constans
Don't try to "penalize bad behavior" or expect people to "pay the price". We are just trying to exclude anti social people from society until they pass the anti social stage.
@ProfDBernstein
What will UCLA do when someone posts a video of it happening again this fall? 1. Arrest and remove protestors. 2. Shut down all classes so as not to discriminate 3. Ignore court order. Place your bets.

Get on the phone and call an OB/GYN in San Antonio - "If I have a miscarriage at a conference, will you be able to give me ACOG standard of care?" Docs always talk to other docs. Also, congrats on trying for kid 2. Kids are awesome.

Trespassing. The entire concept of "property" is owners can control who uses their property. They are not being arrested for speech or protesting, they are trespassing.
@AniseNot
Many bad things can happen to a 13 year old boy when he has sex with a 13 year old girl. Getting hit in the nose is one of the least bad ways to learn it isn't a good idea.

You want a bigger government, I want a smaller government. I will accept a revenue neutral refundable carbon tax as high as you want, but it has to be absolutely revenue neutral - cut some other tax. You won't accept that deal, because your goal is bigger government.

I don't see a lot of daylight between "reduces wage inflation" and "reduces wages for Americans" Then again, I don't see daylight between "reduces housing costs" and "reduces property values"

4% of Americans have shot a firearm in self defense? 13 million people? I am a huge 2A supporter, but that seems a trifle high.

I care more about people that live in my house > neighborhood > city > county > state > country. Don't you? Should we spend money on the unhoused in your city or send the money to Bangladesh where it will have more impact?

Pretty sure that all transportation projects are motivated by a desire to create jobs (primarily for men without college degrees), award lucrative contracts & support the transportation industry. Everyone knows they won't reduce congestion.

I love tax incidence theory! In essence, it doesn't matter who is nominally responsible for a tax, and it is tricky to determine who actually pays - or in a subsidy who benefits. Who pays sales tax? Unemployment insurance? Social security taxes?
@Cluffalo
Men, you are in a quest - the ultimate prize, the holy grail - is to marry this woman. It is not "sleep with her regularly and keep options open". Women, if a man does not understand that quest, move on.
@Inspiredlawyer
Is it guns? Many states now allow permitless carry. Which state has had the worst result, where multiple citizens carrying legally have committed crimes? Is it "gender affirming care"? Are you afraid your son won't be able to become your daughter?

Scott dropped out as an engineering major and ended up with a psych degree. He doesn't seem to have a strong foundation in economics, accounting, or government finance.

$1,300 a month for every American is $5.14 trillion a year, and the US only collects $4.4 trillion in taxes. How do you plan to collect the $5 trillion?
@ToddHagopian
As a libertarian, I support using violence to remove trespassers from private property. Even if the trespassers are speaking. Even if the trespassers were once guests.
@Fire5280
Get a broker's license just to buy and sell your own stuff. It is not expensive or hard. I have held a license since the 1980s, just do family transactions, lifetime fee collection = $0.
@TastelessAlex
As a wealthy suburbanite, I approve. Charge for every piece of street parking 24/7. At $1 an hour, inner city apartment dwellers couldn't afford to keep cars, and $8 a day is a steal for commuters. Stop free riding poors.
@GoracleOfDelphi
Two independent issues: 1. Should I make a 30 year investment and buy this house? 2. Should I make a 1 year decision to rent a house in neighborhood? Don't conflate them!

"Intergenerational wealth, also known as generational wealth or family wealth transfer, is the passing of assets from one generation of a family to the next" Key word is family. You want to create government wealth.
