I don’t want to cause any alarm but I think it’s possible that some kind of serial killer is going around targeting the oldest people in the world as part of a sick twisted game
I genuinely, hand to God, do not understand how anyone could watch this and not either laugh or sit in a little cringeball. Someone trying to PARODY Aaron Sorkin could not have done better.
Today I was in line at Whole Foods buying quinoa. The cashier complimented me on my shirt, saying it reminded her of the Chick-Fil-A logo and that she loves their waffle fries. I told her that the fries were a congealed mess of bigotry & hate and everyone snapped their fingers
ME IN THE GROCERY STORE: “Gosh, everything is so expensive now.”
SOME GUY NAMED BILL STENCIL POPS OUT FROM BEHIND THE CANTALOUPES: “Actually have you seen this CHART? Sorry if HARD NUMBERS and DATA don’t match with your VIBES, pal.”
America is such a crazy country! I’m glad we’re not like that! Hey, what do you think America’s doing right now? I don’t even care. lol it’d be hilarious if we called America and then hung up. Can we drive by America’s house? Does America ever ask about me?
I wonder how many people there are who think “Wow, the Democrats are off their rocker. Maybe I should give the Republicans another look,” but then Matt Gaetz or MTG or Trump open their mouth-holes and they think “Oh, right, never mind.”
@wanyeburkett
Modern academia exists largely to launder these ideas and give them an intellectual veneer so that it sounds better than “my tribe good, their tribe bad”
Said it before, but free speech is most useful to those without institutional power. When that was the progressive left, they were pro free speech. Now that they have institutional power, free speech is a threat.
Richard Nixon once flipped the bird to a protester from the window of his car as he was leaving, then turned to an adviser and said “That son of a bitch will spend the rest of his life telling people the President of the United States flipped him off, and nobody will believe him”
There is a very weird but very real segment of the U.S. population born between 1960-1980 that truly believed there was a high probability of dying in quicksand.
@Oilfield_Rando
I said this once in class and a student said I was just being nostalgic because that was my generation.
Anyway, the Dean told me I couldn’t fail them for that
If you think that during a DJT presidency you’ll have the right to protest against policies you disagree with, you’re sadly mistaken.
The whim of the man in power will reign over all.
Over your rights.
Over your opinions.
Over everything.
That’s authoritarianism.
In Iowa. Trump rally. There is a dramatic, solemn video playing now talking about Trump, saying “God gave us Trump.” Lots of nodding in the audience. Trump is taking on “vipers,” those with “poison,” the “wolves.” He “takes care of the flock,” narrator says.
“God made Trump.”
Politics has gotten so far off the rails that I’ve now been called a “filthy lib” and a “centrist cuck” twice in the same day, and both of those were just by my grandmother.
A functional society can and must allow people to broadcast repugnant, odious, terrible views without government sanction. I don’t like seeing it either, but the government must not restrict political expression, even expression as disgusting as this.
I personally believe the country has a genuine interest in controlling immigration and knowing who is coming. I also believe illegal immigration is clearly not an “invasion” under the language of the Constitution. This puts me at odds with everyone but like 6 people.

Ice is appearing everywhere, from iced drinks to ice sculptures, all at once.
While this ice trend is mostly about harmless fun, the growing prevalence of drought and water insecurity point to a future where ice will be at an ever-greater premium.
ON THE ONE HAND, it’s true that one side was shooting civilians in the street and parading their mutilated bodies around, BUT ON THE OTHER HAND another side was engaging in strip searching, so who can really say who is bad?
BREAKING: Trump formally announces that he will shutdown the Federal Department of Education and return education back to the states
Any institution that exists solely to justify its continued existence shouldn't exist. The DOE has done nothing for We The People, TIME TO GO!
“I’m a professor,” I protest as I am led out of Publix for moaning sensually every time I squeezed an avocado to check for ripeness (I squeezed all of them)
"Latine," a gender-neutral way to describe or refer to people with Latino origins, is surging in popularity over terms like "Latinx" on university campuses, in museums, and among researchers and media.
RIGHT WING EXTREMISM: “I just think people should pay less in taxes.”
LEFT WING EXTREMISM: “Empty the prisons and set fire to the oil fields.”
See how silly that sounds?
Reminder that it's a statistical reality that far right extremism and far left extremism tend to be radically different in their very nature.

Remember, obsessing over work and career is a symptom of fascistic capitalism, but focusing on family formation is also a symptom of fascistic capitalism
The best part about Harrison Butker being a misogynist psycho is that a lot of dudes can head hunt his stupid kicker ass for a 15yd penalty next season and get a lifetime of credit with the women in their lives

She reveals much with this statement, though not what she intends to reveal, I think
I won’t be able to satisfy Matt Walsh because he’s a relentless contrarian, but depression is way more than basic sadness. It’s just nothing. At my most depressed I wouldn’t describe it as sad, I would describe it as the complete absence of emotion.
When I took office, there were 7,000 people who had their loans forgiven through the Public Service Loan Forgiveness program.
Thanks to our reforms, nearly 800,000 people have had their debt forgiven.
This relief is life-changing for individuals and for their families.
Imagine if there were a liberal Samuel Alito. Just ruled on a democratic wishlist of priorities every single time with 6-3 liberal majority on the court
It’s very straightforward: affect is a verb and effect is a noun. Except when affect is a noun and effect is a verb. Then it’s not straightforward. Good luck.
There is a glut in the Republican Party of people who genuinely do not care about elections in the way most politicians do. The GOP to them is solely a vehicle for celebrity and money and tons of GOP voters are eager to give it to them.
There are times when you can lose and overperform the fundamentals but neither of these candidates did. Healthy political parties have an autoimmune response to ostracize losing candidates and the GOP seems to be incapable of that right now.
Waitstaff will write “Thanks!! :)” on my receipt like it will mean a bigger tip. You want a bigger tip? Write “Communism has failed every time it’s been tried :))”
Why did The Atlantic just target a 23-year-old student and non-public figure by full name in a way that seems intended to endanger them?? Extremely irresponsible
Ah, I see: a cop simply does the job we claim cops do—enforce the law—and conservatives lose their minds, because they believe cops should ignore the law and instead enforce socioeconomic hierarchies.
MFs in America will decry “theocratic fascism” when their money has the word God on it but the minute you see actual theocratic fascism somewhere in the world it’s “well, it’s complicated.”
I do not care a whit for Ronna McDaniel, but the these clowns at NBC/MSNBC declaring they would never lower themselves to give credibility to a dishonest party hack is simply too rich.
A person’s religion is often about who they are at a deep, core level, and asking them to hide who they are from the world because it makes you uncomfortable is wrong.

The comedy vet makes his return to the desk he left in 2015 this evening, but his “both sides are equally bad” approach may not translate to 2024.

Dave Pascoe is 61.
Yet his epigenetic age is only 37.
He’s aging at an annual rate of 0.66, narrowly outpacing Bryan Johnson.

unpacks the dangers of Donald Trump being sentenced to jail time.
Seems serious. Maybe the Democrats should consider moderating their stances on certain things to stave off this existential threat?
Also, if I were at my commencement and this is what I got I would be profoundly annoyed.

MAGA loves to smash muh norms, they cackle gleefully at ad hominems and mockery of someone’s appearance, but the moment someone turns even an iota of that back in their direction it’s “Have you no DECENCY, SIR?!?”
I encountered a toad on my walk tonight. He was just hanging out in the street, which is incredibly dangerous, so I picked him up and brought him to my backyard. I have named him Winston and I can hear him singing out there.
Attempts to dress up student loan forgiveness as some kind of noble act that will really help us all out in the long run is an understandable impulse, but I wish we could just be honest: it’s buying votes from a core constituency. That’s democracy. It’s like farm subsidies.
My great grandfather was a door to door phone salesman for AT&T who went into foreclosure in the Great Depression and was banned from owning property because anything they owned would be seized. After WWII in Philadelphia there was an effort to literally ‘clear the books’ and get
