Back when I was a (incredibly virgin) teenager, I used to be a mod on one of the big FM fan sites, and there was a Croatian guy who used to get extremely high, watch matches for the full 90 mins, and upload videos of himself doing imaginary press conferences at half time
@DaniRowley
We used to have a rule in the Tesco I worked at that we wouldn’t stop anyone who was stealing sanitary products.
Obviously we have the free period products bill now, but it’s still really saddening to me that I’m 2021 people in Britain must resort to stealing tampons to survive
Back in uni, I chanced my arm and asked Curtice if he'd sit down for an interview with the Strathclyde paper during the 2019 election. He agreed.
On the day, he showed up in between press calls with the BBC and Sky, bought me a coffee, and we spoke for 10 mins.
What a man.
Professor Sir John Curtis was up all night for the local election coverage, then back on BBC News in the afternoon, and then on Newsnight last night.
Honestly, the stamina of the man.
From a financial sense, the signing makes no sense, and surely they could have anticipated a backlash.
From a PR point of view, it’ll damage the clubs reputation as a family club and take years to repair.
And from a moral point of view, maybe just don’t employ a fucking rapist?
I have this morning ended my lifelong support of
@RaithRovers
over their signing of the rapist David Goodwillie. I have cancelled next season’s shirt sponsorship over this disgusting and despicable move. This shatters any claim to be a community or family club. 1/2
This is such a frivolous argument. The issue with ScotRail is not that trains are often cancelled. It's that timetables have been vastly reduced, services often end earlier, trains on event days are overcrowded & there is little to no service to support the night-time economy.

Wouldn’t have the first clue how to find them, but they’re probably still up on FM scout. this would have been way back in like 2013 mind
So as if my ego wasn't inflated enough after getting a 1st, today I found out I'd won the Calum MacDonald memorial award for best dissertation
Anyone I spoke to whilst writing the damn thing knows that wee project was my baby and it means so much to me to be recognised like this
Today, a sizeable chunk of the British population woke up to the realisation that if you elect a Prime Minister whose most senior advisor supports eugenics, you're gonna end up with something which looks a hell of a lot like eugenics
Went for a walk in a different direction to usual over lunch, had no idea this was here. A little slice of Tayside in the heart of London, you love to see its
We originally scheduled 30 mins; he reduced to 15 and then 10 due to his insane election schedule.
Asked him why he didn't just cancel since I was a lowly student journalist and wouldn't have been offended, and he told me he'd made a promise and wanted to help a Strathy student.
Just thinking about how GCC banned takeaway pints last summer - the only source of income for many pubs - because of trouble at kelvingrove, as if
A) that doesn’t happen every year
B) alcohol isn’t available already from, you know, shops
C) neds are goin round drinking 5.50 IPAs
The sheer whataboutery in the replies to this, dear god. Care home workers have risked their lives for society during this pandemic and it saddens me greatly that they must speak anonymously through actors to have their voices heard.

deaths.
To maintain their anonymity, their words have been voiced by actors.

Hey
@ArbroathFC
, I'm worried about the financial hit the club could take in the absence of gate receipts. Are there any ways fans can contribute in the meantime so staff get their wages, like a one-off donation or by purchasing a half season ticket even if games don't go ahead?
Might have been a drunken 2am self Christmas present on Saturday…but I’m pretty chuffed with it. Will be proudly supporting

From my own experience, students at Strathclyde (and I suspect across Scotland) are overwhelmingly supportive of their striking lecturers who forfeit pay to fight for better conditions.
I trust your coverage reflects this and doesn't simply give equal coverage to both sides?
🔔 PERSONAL NEWS BELL 🔔
I’m so excited to announce that tomorrow I will be starting a new graduate role

, as part of the Insight team!
Obviously, starting a new job during lockdown is going to be challenging but I’m so excited to start and to meet my new colleagues
Controversial opinion: if Scottish Labour is ever to succeed again, we must become a separate, affiliated, independence neutral (with politicians on both sides of the debate) party from UK Labour. Labour's (expected) failures in England shows the party is in near-terminal decline
The anti-student dross I've seen on here today is just awful. Plenty of personal attacks on students lured into overpriced accomodation only to be punished with draconian restrictions
Here's a thought: let all students take a week off work, and see how society copes without them
@nocontextfm1
Need the ability to rectify honest mistakes more easily (within 1 day) without the morale hit. Accidentally awarded my 4th choice CB the captaincy, changed it the same day only for the squad to perform a mutiny on me with abysmal morale.
Oh, and the social media feed. All of it.
What an absolutely disgusting take on a tragic, horrifying event. How dare you attempt to exploit our city's pain to feed into your immigrant blaming agenda.
Horrible tragedy in a Glasgow Hotel housing illegal immigrants.
All over the UK, hotels are filling up with young men who are coming across the Channel every day.
It is a massive risk to our wellbeing — yet the government does nothing.
Here's Patricia Gibson's victory speech, in which she:
- says Scotland has once again stood up to Westminster Tory government
- attacks Jeremy Corbyn for his party's failure to stop Boris Johnson down south
- "Scotland's voice WILL be heard," she says

This is also what a
@StirUni
spokesperson told me on Thursday. Has the university had a genuine change of course, or are they simply covering their tracks after all the bad PR in the last few days?
There's been some confusion around our housing situation, with some people and the university doubting our claim that we've been threatened with homelessness if our appeals fail. Here's a correspondence showing clearly the university management threatening eviction.
After having a panic attack at the latest Guardian updates I have decided to turn off all news app notifications for the time being. By all means, keep yourself informed, but don't get yourself hooked on reading the news like I did, it only makes things worse.
Remember early March, when Spain's pandemic was a national tragedy?
Or Italy, which was an ageing nation ravaged by coronavirus deaths?
Or Sweden, which recklessly refused to lockdown?
And then look at just how well the UK has done. This is a national disgrace.

A massive overreaction, and factually inaccurate.
You say that nobody has heard of Global: they have tens of millions of listeners a week across their stations. You say they’ve been silenced: yet Maitlis, Marr and the like joined Global to break free from BBC impartiality rules.
I have my own website! Over the next few days, I'll be gradually uploading past examples of my writing and hopefully will have much more to add in the future, so would be incredibly grateful if you lovely people could retweet to get my work out there❤️

6 promotions and took two separate wee clubs up to the full time leagues. Almost won the championship on a shoestring budget. What you on about?
Been a tough few months but yesterday I passed my theory test despite being utterly convinced I had failed and today I got a promotion at work so I *guess* things are looking up eh
Roll on payday and the celebratory chinese! (Would love one tonight but I currently have £5 left)
Listening back to an interview for my dissertation I did in early March and the ending is quite something:

Where in my tweet did I say their members rejected it? 😂 I simply stated a fact which is that 96.9% of their members voted to strike only two weeks ago.
As someone who's spent a lifetime being made fun of relentlessly for having an accent that doesn't sound like everyone else, it absolutely boils my blood seeing people calling out folk on here for having accents they don't like or saying 'you're no Scottish if you sound that way'
Stephanie, you’re crap, which is why-

Christ, Dundee looks something else these days! This genuinely looks like one of those artists impressions you see when they’re submitting planning permission. Some makeover like…
First shift as a supervisor done and I am already on the verge of crying while tanning a bottle of wine, ordering in a carry out because 'I'm just far too busy to cook these days' and being tucked up in bed by 8.30pm.
Will stop bragging after this I swear but it pretty much sums up my life that last night I got drunk after the editors elections, fell asleep on the train and ended up in alloa, and ~24hr later I'm a double nominated journo for awards I applied for 30 seconds before the deadline.
Glasgow’s attitude towards the nighttime economy is a disgrace. The city has some amazing venues which are let down by the choice between an hour-long taxi queue and a potentially dangerous walk home.
A publicly owned bus company & late-running Scotrail services are needed asap.

❤️🇱🇻 so fantastic seeing all these youngsters below desperate for signatures and photos with the players. Five years ago they’d have had posters of Messi and Neymar on their walls, now it’s Mikey McKenna!
Tonight’s attendance made us very proud as a Club. 3121 on a Friday night was just outstanding! Thank you and to all those who stayed behind for selfies and autographs! Big shout out to the

support too, we hope you all get home safe.
Thoughts go out to all retail and hospitality workers this Christmas. I remember last year at Tesco being shit scared I was gonna get it right before I went home, “luckily” didn’t catch Covid until the week *after*
If you are going to a pub, do them a favour & mask up at the bar
I find it so tiring that whenever people try to say 'hey the infrastructure in Scotland could be better', the default argument is to make out they're only saying that to make Scotland look bad, rather than to address the issues at heart or show any ambition to improve things.
Can't always afford to, but made it my post-reopening goal to support more local businesses in Dennistoun whenever I can. Today's result: avocado toast with fresh sourdough bread and free range eggs from Tapa Organic bakery! (Bonus: the fresh milk in my coffee was also delicious)
The line towed by the uni thus far has been callous and cowardly. While lecturers and teaching staff express concern for the wellbeing of their students and offer them the chance to stay home, the university tells everybody to come in as normal. This could backfire.
@MattKleinOnline
The problem with US-UK comparisons is that the main left/right parties are so different ideologically from their US counterparts. Not having a 2 party system complicates things, and tbh FPTP is the only thing which stopped Labour from collapsing like other European socdem parties
Been wearing my Guess top in London for a few months now, not had any comments. In a shop in Dennistoun and an old woman comes up to me and goes "haven't got a clue sorry son".

I have listened to versions of Yes Sir, I Can Boogie 5 times today. I've spent £50 on a new Scotland top. I watched a mashup video of our qualification and greeted at Christie's interview.
Ladies and gentlemen, I would hereby like to announce that I am absolutely fucking buzzing

It would be fantastic to see something similar to the 1960s stock Victoria Line carriages preserved in Walthamstow. Like those, the Glasgow carriages could also be rented out for filming.
@ryancapperauld
It’s lunacy. Was already a joke that ScotGov sanctioned only one provider of PCR tests which was up to twice the price of England, and now this.
Can add it to the growing list of industries absolutely shafted by incompetent leadership.
It's the weekend before Christmas and my *delightful* neighbours are complaining because I, after working 9 days straight (about to be 10) in a critical work job during a pandemic, had the audacity to use my washing machine after 10pm.
