Chaos with Ed Miliband? Yes please!
Rees-Mogg absolutely rattled here. Ed has lifted the lid on their corrupt plans. They think they can trample over our climate priorities and people's safety to secure profits for their pals. We say no, and we fight back.
Just got really quite angry in Lidl.
There wasn’t any baby formula on the shelf, so I asked a staff member. He apologised, got me some from the back and said they don’t keep many out because it’s so often stolen. He then handed me two tubs with security tags on.
Britain 2021.
‘Couple in court for stealing food from Tesco bins had just £8 a week to live on’
Parents trying to look after their child. Because the government left them with £8. But they’re in court. And Cummings is being DEFENDED BY CABINET.
Dangerous headlines & dangerous policy.
Are we really past the peak? Do we have control over the crisis in care homes? Do we have robust test, trace & isolate? Is our NHS supported to be at capacity with adequate PPE? Are all key workers safe? No, so we must

And let's not forget Kamaro, who manages to evoke emotional breakthroughs and heal family rifts in 24 hours that would usually take months and months of therapy.
Should go without saying, but I’m not angry at the staff or that the store have decided to do this.
I’m angry that we live in a country so riddled with inequality, that some parents are having to shoplift formula to feed their newborn babies.
The ‘independent group’ just came into the chamber. How people who once called themselves Labour can cosy up next to the likes of Soubry, smiling and laughing, is absolutely beyond me. I guess we now know how their policies and values differ from Labour.
Theresa May mocks Labour at

for not having a woman leader. Meanwhile her policies and today's budget hit women hardest.
The Prime Minister is no feminist.

Radical policies here 👉🏻
Iain Duncan Smith just said members should vote for the deal that ‘the people are dying for’.
Dying for? How dare he.
No one is dying for a terrible Tory Brexit deal. But people have died while waiting on Universal Credit payments - which he is the so called ‘architect’ of.
A lot of unexpected coverage of me talking about my period - which is great, but also highlights the need to talk about periods more openly.
A woman mentioning her period shouldn't be such huge news - let's use this opportunity and work together to get to a place where it's not!
📢 Poverty is on the rise.
👩👦👦Of all children living in poverty, 68% have at least 1 parent in work.
💷The root cause of poverty is low pay & poor work opps, not laziness.
🚫Essential items like baby milk shouldn’t be so expensive it’s inaccessible OR lucrative to steal & sell.
It’s disgraceful for Tom Watson to publicly attack
@JennieGenSec
while she is undergoing chemotherapy - a horrible and draining cancer treatment, which she took time out of to talk to Shadow Cabinet, and she has offered to meet with him. There is no need for this attack.
Labour source - ‘Jennie Formby offered to meet with Tom Watson to provide him with the Party’s response to the EHRC. This week Jennie Formby took time out of her chemotherapy treatment to update the Shadow Cabinet on this. Tom Watson was present but did not ask any Qs on this’
Delighted to have been appointed as Shadow Minister for Climate Justice and Green Jobs. We must take bold urgent action to stop a climate catastrophe, and create thousands of new green jobs for our workers at the same time. A green industrial revolution.
I'm pleased to announce
@DaniRowley
as Labour's first Shadow Minister for Climate Justice and Green Jobs.
Danielle will work closely with activists, including the youth strikers, to force the government to tackle the climate emergency.
Do not buy this worried Dad/concerned husband defence.
How many parents have had to make do stuck in their house during lockdown? How many single parents have been ill and isolated but tried their best?
This is not acceptable and you are no exception

‘The truth about what happened’ is that innocent protestors were murdered by the state. All unarmed. Some shot in the back while running away. This didn’t ‘unfold’. This was a massacre.
50 years ago, the horror of Bloody Sunday unfolded in Derry.
The victims left behind families and a community that grieved their loss and struggled for decades to have the truth told about what happened.
I send them my deepest respects on this poignant and significant day.
And if you want to see the horrid misunderstanding of people living in poverty, perpetuated by the media and the powerful, just look at some of the replies to my first tweet... 😓
We’re bringing something truly amazing home with us today.
I can’t say thank you enough to the
@NHS_Lothian
staff at the Edinburgh Simpsons Maternity Centre, who were so outstanding and dedicated in helping deliver and look after our wee boy.
Welcome home baby Ronan ❤️
The fact no one is even commenting that when Cummings was called to Downing Street to discuss major misconduct, he strolls up in a baggy old T-shirt and joggers. The attitude.
Can you even imagine the reaction if that was a woman?
Make one comical tweet during an election and get over a thousand tweets calling me fat & ugly. And people wonder why young women are reluctant to get involved in politics...
Don't worry, takes more than some sad wee trolls to haud me back! Onwards to a Labour Government ✊🌹
Of course she’s tired, of course she’s emotional. She hasn’t had an easy ride.
But HOW DARE she talk about inequality. HOW DARE she talk about justice for the people of Grenfell. And the cheek of her talking about unity when she has spent 2 years stoking division. Goodbye May.
I paid tribute to Scott Hutchison in Parliament, and praised his family for setting up mental health charity

I highlighted perpetrators of domestic abuse are using Universal Credit single household payments as a tool for financial coercion – yet
@Theresa_May
doesn't seem to grasp the point of automatic split payments.
It's not enough to condemn abuse, we must act to end abuse.
I once worked for Costa. I was told not to come back because I got a horrible cold on my 3rd week (from another member of staff.) I then wasn’t paid for any of the work I’d done.
I was young and didn’t think you could join a union for that kind of job. I was wrong.

Jeremy is the kindest person I met in politics. He led by inspiring, encouraging and building a shared vision of hope. He didn’t just speak up for others, but raised them up to speak for themselves. It’s been an honour to have him as a boss and a friend.

I couldn't care less about the Djokovic story. But now he's out, can all the frenzy, discussion and focus turn to the horrendous conditions that refugees and asylum seekers are kept in in detention centres?
This is bad news for the BBC.

I'd really like to know how this decision was reached.
I woke up this morning to many messages from both local party members, and activists I’ve met across the country. They feel shocked, upset & let down.
They don’t care about factional fighting. They care that they’ve dedicated hours to our party and their efforts were undermined.
Sat at my lovely Grandma’s bedside as she is in her last days of life. She was distressed so I played her music, songs she used to sing to me when I was wee. She instantly calmed and fell asleep. The power of music. ❤️
Please send her all your most positive & peaceful thoughts.
Future generations & the world's poorest will pay the price of the Tory government putting the interests of the few big polluters ahead of the people.
Labour will ban fracking & kickstart a Green Industrial Revolution to bring 400k green jobs to the UK.
1. Don’t RT horrific racists. Even if it’s to show them up. It gives them air.
2. Asylum seekers aren’t illegal immigrants.
3. Human beings have been attacked, and some have died. That should be at the forefront of everyone’s minds right now.
👏🏻👏🏻 This kind of snobbish approach is never going to bring people round to remain, and so a second vote wouldn’t return a different result! We have to work with leave voters, not against them.
We now have proof the Government is treating vulnerable people in a rushed and inhumane way and what’s worse, they’ve tried to cover it up. Thanks
@NickMartinSKY
for shining a spotlight on this.
Trans rights are human rights. I spoke several times in a Westminster Hall debate on proposals to allow self-identification of gender today, and I will always stand up for the trans community.
Emily has been an inspiration & mentor to me; took me under her wing when I was elected, campaigned with me, took me for a cuppa whenever I had a tough time.
I believe in her & know she will lead us in any role she does. Working on her campaign was a privilege.
Thank you Emily🌹

We can all joke about the glitter idiot now, and Keir did so well to carry on calmly. But being in the hall, I found it absolutely terrifying when he ran on stage. Two MPs have been stabbed to death in the UK in recent years. This kind of ‘campaign stunt’ is not okay.
Finally bed time. I want to say before I nod off though:
A huge thank you to all the Commons staff who stayed late tonight (and many other nights), who help us do our job, and who keep us safe. And thank you to Black Rod who was doing her job tonight too! We appreciate it.

The government’s huge U turn on fracking is a victory hard fought for by campaigners, but is only temporary (convenient timing!)
The Secretary of State doesn’t support it, today saying it’s only ’halted’. 👀👇🏻
🌹Only Labour can be trusted to immediately ban fracking for good.
Andrea Leadsom describes shale gas as something the UK will "need for the next several decades" & says the fracking ban is a "huge disappointment".
Not exactly the comments from a cabinet minister keen on a permanent ban.
A fine example of national news trying to paint an illusion of a violent picket, evoking memories of the miners strike, trying to stir up fear. Easily batted away by Mick Lynch of

So this was terrifying but we’re all okay. The biggest ever thank you to the amazing fire, ambulance and police officers who helped us - especially the fireman who managed to pull me out a window and get me down a ladder to safety. The word hero here isn’t an exaggeration.
And now we have the male standin for our PM telling

Well, she was elected as a Labour MP and her website still bills her as a Labour MP, as do other digital signatures. You’d expect a professor like yourself, even if it’s only at Strathclyde Uni, to have a greater reverence for facts. But that’s modern academia for you.
Our baby box arrived yesterday! It’s super lovely and filled with useful things. This made us really quite excited, and I can imagine how essential it is for many parents to be.
Question: it’s acceptable to colour it in myself before the baby comes right? 😶

When we declared a climate emergency, we gave the Tories 6 months to come back with an urgent plan.
Today they have failed to bring anything forward.
Thank you for all the kind words. I’m heartbroken to announce my beautiful Grandma Doreen Curran passed away peacefully in her sleep this morning.

We have key workers living in poverty. The strike has been about getting paid a decent wage, being able to pay the bills. Anyone claiming it’s about political games needs to take a look at themselves. Last year we clapped all key workers. Now it’s time to stand with them.
Honestly I’m never going to support some made up undemocratic government that includes austerity pushers and excludes any BAME voices, like strong remainer

Isn’t it just charming to see the Tories “celebrating” with lavish gifts from the PM while thousands mourn the loss of loved ones, vulnerable people are stuck isolated, and demand for foodbanks continues to rise. 🤯🤦🏻♀️😡

This is horrendous treatment of a staff member and Parliament should investigate. She might be smiling in the photo, but her image, financial info and salary has just been put out into the public/social media world in order to get a reaction. This MP is unfit for public office.
Katy works for me. She is single & earns less than 30k, rents a room for £775pcm in Central London, has student debt, £120 a month on travelling to work saves money every month, goes on foreign holidays & does not need to use a foodbank.
Katy makes my point really well.
If the UK fully exploits its shale gas reserves through extensive fracking, the amount of carbon released would eliminate any hope of the government meeting its 2050 net-zero target. The new PM needs to ban fracking now.
My interview on the Today programme earlier this week 👇
My Granda’s care home just sent me a video of them showing him photos they printed out of Ronan, telling him he’s a Great-Granda. He said ‘He’s a goodun, just like me!’ and recognised that their names are similar. Not sure I’ll ever stop crying. Care workers are pure gold. ❤️

talked about being on her period in the Commons. Why should it be a taboo? Of it was men they would be boasting about how heavy their flow is and how epic their cramps are.
Disgusting scenes in Glasgow tonight as far-right thugs disrupt a peaceful asylum seeker event, reportedly attacking them. This bigotry is not welcome on our streets.

I am BURSTING with happiness. Not only did I get to see my Granda again today, but the care home allowed me to take Ronan. My baby got to meet his Great Granda! My hero, he taught me everything I know and I can’t wait to pass his stories and knowledge on.

Trying to blame gender inequality on trans people is not only stupid, but a total distraction from the real barriers holding women back. Sadly Rosie and her friends are so obsessed with this one issue, they abandon the actual fight for women’s rights. It’s anti-feminist.
I held a debate today highlighting that people in often critical situations are being turned away from the Universal Credit 'helpline'.
The Gov't refuses to acknowledge this or apologise to those suffering under its cruel system. The Tories must stop failing our most vulnerable!
