I made this stupid meme edit of the Myst box art when I was a teenager, and I still see it pop up from time to time. Pretty sure the Myst community hates it lol.
For all the times I get hit hard with impostor syndrome and feel like a fraud, I have to recognize what this project used to look like.

Cooking up a potential title screen for Pant and Click. Inspired heavily by ugly early 2000s "futuristic" CGI. Currently just a blender mockup to try to find the art style, but I'm kinda loving this idea so far.

A slightly closer look. I have the bobbing animation, glow opacity, and sprite scale animate at random offsets/speed scales. It lets them breathe and appear more naturally than if everything animated in sync! 😁

It's even weirder to me considering how out of touch this makes them look with their own brand. They just forgot how the public no longer views them as a kids brand, but instead as a gross corporate conglomerate. This isn't some bold statement, it's patronizing.

Was originally just a testing ground for how solid I could get a character to feel for a platformer. Glad it's come so far!

To anybody who cares, I'm still alive and still progressing on this pants game, but social media just poorly impacts my decision making and incentivizes small sharable goals over more important ones. Plus I had a couple months of life getting in the way a while back.
The Mario movie was aight, but it could've used a scene where Mario eats a double-cherry, followed by him and his clone having an existential crisis. Later, Mario could be forced to watch himself die, and he spends the rest of his life unsure if he is the copy.
Re-rendered this gif with some rendering changes and improved keyframing. I liked the idea of this loop more than my execution, so I fixed it.

Are there any games out there that don't take a life away from you when dying before the first checkpoint? I'm baffled that I never see this in platformers with lives. It stops the player from offing themselves just to get the lives back to the starting amount.

Slowly but surely applying core features to my oddball 3D platformer about pants and clicking on stuff. Ironing out some cursor functionality right now, which isn't exciting but it's progress nonetheless!

Yeah I think I get a false sense of this stuff from a vocal few. I've definitely seen people comment on reposts saying stuff like "This reads like it was made by somebody who couldn't even get off Myst island."
Meanwhile I own like 4 copies of Riven and have Myst memorized lol.

The way the volume decreases as the offset increases makes it sound like the menu is the origin of the sounds and it's getting further away 😆
Hey real quick question. Would any of you find any value in a Discord server? I've had one mostly set up for a while, but I just don't know if anybody would care. I'd probably just drop in random dev stuff that I don't post to Twitter but idk. I barely use Discord.
Play small games, weird games, bad games, all games. There's stuff to learn from all of them, and you never know what microscopic details you might be able to adopt from unexpected sources.
