A system of macrophages in the heart supports cardiomyocyte health by phagocytosing exopher particles ejected from cardiomyocytes that contain defective mitochondria, among other cellular contents.

@peretungste @FJIprecarios En mi caso, el haberme quedado en el laboratorio donde hice la tesis ha resultado nefasto a la hora de solicitar proyectos y becas postdoc. Los criterios de movilidad de estas convocatorias es el motivo n°1 por el cual la gente se va de España a seguir con su carrera científica😔

Very nice work from @BrestoffLab in @Cell_Metabolism showing something pretty similar to what we have described in cardiac tissue. Macrophages support adipose tissue metabolism through the elimination of adopocytes mitochondria. This may be bigger than we initially expected 🧐
