The literary device(s) when I'm writing that unconsciously jumps into my writing are alliteration and rhymes. There's never a conscious effort to let 'em in.

There's always a void to fill. The happiness is always momentary, like a pond at the end of the road, where the the sky and the road kiss, but upon reach, it disappears and you pursue another. What do you call this? Chase?
Evidence of how anticipatory I was about this workshop!

Homecoming Poetry Workshop!
another beautiful day to be a light at the end of one's tunnel. not the tunnel, not the darkness that envelopes inside the tunnel, but the light, the warmth, the peace and bliss.
where does those masterpieces go when we wake up from sleep?
personal account : I'd this dream that didn't feel like a dream, so real. I was writing this mad poem that I was amazed by what I was cooking, only to wake up and realize it was a dream and the poem, gone with it๐คฆ๐ปโโ๏ธ
Paraphrased :
art is not objective. there's no definite phrase to say this is art or not. what about shakespeare beethoven, mozart and the likes? call it collective subjectivity. your fanbase determines how popular you're.
โThe Lazarus Project
In every poem I write, I sow a piece of myself. That way, like Jesus Christ, I give you myself to feed on, and in return, I give myself healing. Call it a communion, call it a fellowship. ๐น
The final day of Homecoming Workshop was facilitated by the inimitable Utibe Hanson, winner of ANA/KMVL Poetry Prize 2023.
Mr. Utibe talked about the person and persona of the poet, the need for writing routines, the abdication of ego, and so much more.
We are grateful!

To me, that will be creative writing and in terms of specificity; poetry. I'm just revisiting and exploring prose this year. Tho, it was the first start out for me.
@gretchenfilart
"her gentle hand on my weary back. Isn't it strange how a child's hand can make a good bandage.."
I love this line.
This is beautiful and I hope it gets a home.
@AnikeBeloved__
When I listened to my grand mother and mother tell me and my siblings stories after dinner and I thought, what if I also create these stories told but in another way. Then I started writing and thank you to my nursery school that introduced us to lantern literatures.
We're coming home,
@michael_imossan
,
@HansonUtibe
and I. For years we have acquired gifts in our romance with poetry. Now, we give back.
It is free. If you're in Uyo, be at Food Affair on Friday. Poetry may seem like magic, but maybe you can be initiated too.
For the culture ๐ฉต
I second this opinion made. My reason: the way Tares writes n' utilizes his poetic devices, n' approaches his topics is just so beautiful that I may term uncommon. The first time I got amazed by his works was when I saw what he did with his contents in his book "Chatham House."
Tares Oburumu could arguably be Nigeria's best poet at the moment. Man is in a class of his own.
It's like Blaqbonez's said in the Martell cypher: "where I'm chilling is like a mountain to get to, like the corridors of power in a building like that..." That's Oburumu's class.
where my poets at? this one's for you.
@myshuzia
opens the year with an opportunity for you to canvas $300. do you think that is yours? then, send in your entries.
Because it's DIVINE!
"someone said, God cut off his ears every morning, before the world's supplicatory noises are loud enough to terrify his sleep"
"Tragedy is too drunk to not attempt another bad joke"
again, DIVINE!
Day 30:
#AfricanPoets2024
Today I'm tapping some of my own poetry ๐.
'A Poem Is An Enclave" was published in 2021 by
@PoetryColumnNnd
. A critical poem in my artistic journey & very nostalgic for me to read.
Do tell me if you enjoy it, and, if you're feeling gracious, why.
๐ฉต
One of the lessons I have learnt in my writing journey is that comparison destroys art faster than anything. It is easy to compare someone's 20th step with your 3rd step and get frustrated. As you get better, enjoy the process. It is your journey. You are doing great at it!
