Hey everyone! I'm currently at risk of redundancy and so am on the lookout for opportunities to explore my options including outside academia. So, if anyone has any opportunities, thinks they'd hire me, or just ideas for me, please DM me. Thanks, and do share this.

I say this everytime, but doing meta-analyses makes me want to be part of this game less and less everytime... the terrible reporting, the salami slicing crumb trail to find what you need, and the usually by the end of it the realisation that there's feck all effect anyway.

Sport science is a place where most people seem to agree that very small effects are really really important... and then proceed to just collect data on n=10-20 and wildly overinterpret them also confusing the estimate of a population estimand with an individuals effect.

In response to a paper stating small effects are the 'foundation' of psychological science, we point out such papers should not be cited as a blanket defense that all small effects can matter. Researchers should present a justification why small (or large!) effects matter.

Looking at correlations really hits home why reporting interval estimates are important... too often small papers report a 'significant' correlation of say r = 0.47 (p < 0.05)... yet don't show that the CIs suggest data are compatible with a range from r= 0.03 to r = 0.76
