3 years ago today, I tested positive for an infection that has changed my life. I’m 36 and have been disabled for 3 years. I will have to take medication for the rest of my life. I have had pain every day for 3 years. I have learnt to parent with deafness, blurred vision, 1/3

Today is my last day of being an NHS nurse. Nursing is a career I have loved, it gave me the opportunity to be my authentic self by caring for those in need. Now I have been awarded Ill health retirement at the grand old age of 36 from being disabled on the frontline. 1/

I can’t describe the pain and heartache of testing covid positive for a 6th time, 4th since #LongCovid . Knowing the incoming pain and symptoms, the likely pericarditis again and the months of recovery ahead. The pain of this outweighs the pain of the virus. I’m heartbroken 💔

Take some time for you today, spend quality time with loved ones, reflect, remember, have a lie in, take that extra slice of cake. Whatever YOU need today. Do it. Thinking of all those who have been affected by watching #breathtaking , and the bereaved, the sick, the disabled.

@theRCN Never mind pay, what most of us wanted was adequate PPE and not to be left disabled and lose our careers from Covid. The exodus of staff will also be related to that, and after #BREATHTAKING be lucky if there are and staff left, let alone half. Why would anyone want to join?

You wouldn’t know any of this is going on just by looking at me. It’s very easy to judge when you don’t live like this. This relapse could be days, weeks or even months long, just to be able to be with my family on holiday 😞

Even forgetting those of us disabled with #LongCovid due to poor PPE provision… Every #UKTaxpayer should be furious at this financial & environmental disaster. Shame on you @RishiSunak @Conservatives @LC_UK_Action @LongCovidSOS @long_covid @LCNMUK @KeyWorkerPetUK

The government ignored this endless planning, and all the points and failures raised have got in into this mess now. There are no ACCURATE figures for staff with Long Covid, but thought to be 13k nurses!! We are the largest impacted workforce, and still we are not heard! 4/

A dear friend asked me how I was feeling today. This was my reply- I cried watching Keir Starmer going into Downing Street. Not because of him, or his politics, but because I’m so glad the era of the pandemic Tories is over. Lots of them wiped out, the rest lingering in the 1/

@LongCovidAdvoc When I bought children into this world, I was fit and able. Covid changed that, and people still seem to be amazed that the virus that KILLS thousands has DISABLED millions, including young parents. I would do anything to get better 😞
