If you don’t yet teach Greek myths in KS3, I can’t recommend it enough. Thoroughly enjoying doing myths with Yr 7 and it feeds so brilliantly into texts they’ll study later on. Also, NEVER a dull moment in a myths lesson. Expect the unexpected. Entertaining in so many ways.

Dear the Government, Stop using the verb ‘advice’ when giving official updates, it makes what you say sound optional, when it isn’t. It’s ambiguity is dangerous. Instead, use an imperative like ‘Instruction’ instead - it is less ambiguous, it might make all the difference.

Cards on the table - as this may help others - I emailed my surgery today to request an increase in my antidepressant dose. In normal times, my dose does its job. I’ve struggled with my MH since Christmas and WFH is not good for it. I want to keep working despite all 👉

All over my timeline- teachers, in week 3 (or 4) of a 7 or 8 week half-term, and a 39 week academic year, are saying how EXHAUSTED they are… They have 36, or 35 weeks of teaching still to do. Everyone expects an awful lot of teachers, and right now the expectations

The teaching profession is ON ITS KNEES. Schools are haemorrhaging teachers at all levels. Many are quitting for a) the sake of their mental & physical pay b) and taking lower pay (at least initially) in new jobs, because they won’t be perma-exhausted/stressed.

Looking at front pages today, narrative is all about Johnson taking on the educational establishment and insisting on keeping schools open. How are we the bad guys here? We never closed the schools! Boris Johnson closed the schools. We've done everything that's been asked of us.
