My wife is an old world wife which is like a trad wife but instead of being submissive she hits me with a spoon when I go into the kitchen while she’s makin’ the pasta.
Replies are pretty split between this being fabulously wealthy as a lifestyle vs completely normal.
Middle class is exactly what you grew up with. Anything less is poverty, anything more is riches beyond your imagination.
So if both parents made 100k in 1990s dollars then you were above the top 10% or so of households in the United States.
Around 75k in the 90s puts you in the top 75%.
What is being described with the overseas travel esp is top 10-5% for the 90s. I’m comfortable labeling that “rich”. Middle class is 40-60% income. Upper middle is 70-10%
Anything you put past upper middle is, of course, a little bit fake. To some only billionaires are rich and earning a million a year is middle class. To which I say: come on.
As my mentor William F. Buckley once put it, “Materialistic democracy beckons every man to make himself a king; republican citizenship incites every man to be a knight.”
Arguing with stats racists online is basically how I became good enough at statistics and probability to have my current email job so they at least have done that much good in the world.
Yes, this is why Sailer et al are so maddening. Their entire performance is just a tone: they look and sound mathy and statistical, but their actual arguments - in the rare instances they bother to include numbers at all - crumble under scrutiny. It’s a trick
Postliberals say "liberalism" when they mean "capitalism" because they think the problem is largely the culture of elites and not the structures and incentives of the economy.
“It certainly must take unmititgated gall to ask the public, particularly “WHITEY” for funds to keep you and your ilk rolling along in the manner to which you have become to visibly accustomed. Your false image is beginning to catch up with your as well as others...
there's a ton i hate about this genre of advice. a major piece of it is that 'being an adult' means not being in any kind of complicated web of relationships instead of deepening and finally contributing to that web. it's incredibly against how i view relationships at all.
@MinModulation
"I miss 2019 when I was a NEET, even though I wanted to kill myself back then too." is basically an explanation of economic sentiment detaching from economic indicators.
The Civil Rights Movement is lead by Marxists who Christians just can't support. While peaceful protest is a valid, in this instance it is fueled by people who are alternating peaceful protest and violence to subvert America and Christianity.
"What's Wrong with Civil Rights" by the John Birch Society. Making a fairly familiar argument that while civil rights are fine and good, the current movement empowers marxists/communists.
Honestly if more of you talked to God how the psalmist does you'd have a much better relationship.
"God, I'm going through so much drama right now, can you destroy that bitch? She talks behind my back all the time. I have always kept your law. You will provide for me. Amen"
The Masculine Urge to opt out of the rat race, take an entry level position with the USPS and deliver mail while listening to podcasts and audiobooks all day.
reading nietzsche's account of christianity as slave morality designed to over time erode master morality's emphasis on greatness and power and repeating "that's right" to myself over and over again.
The virtual event on Xinjiang by the US and a few Western countries was a poor show full of lies and disinformation exposing attempt to use Xinjiang to create mess in and contain China, and is an outright political farce: China's Permanent Mission to UN
What is funnier than that this president got Covid and then beat it in a couple of days and is already back at work? Is there anyone like unto him? If I were one of his detractors, I think I'd give up right about now. No sense throwing good bitterness after bad.
@prageru
Slavery was such a small part of our country. It was mostly agriculture and textile. It was wrong and terrible and the normal practice throughout the entire world. We ENDED slavery.
American Cheese is great, actually. The sodium citrate used as a binder in American Cheese makes it perfect for making different cheese sauces. You can buy sodium citrate online or use American cheese to make sauces more silky and smooth than a bechamel could accomplish.
@0xAlaric
The male GOP Social Media guys are disproportionally told to never go to college, to do hustle bro scams that will drain their accounts and leave them friendless as they are routinely told to cut ties with people not into their own grindset.
You become Trad by being Terminally Online. You do the things terminally online people do. Being unmoored in your 20s. Being white. Being male. Reading poor scans of pdfs that you barely understand that 50 something conspiracy theorists explain to you etc.
Some Personal News: I am now the digital marketing and communications manager for the Western Provence of the Dominican Order of Preachers. My first day started today. I ship out to Seattle next week. Love u crazy diamonds.
However, we are now confronted by a series of demonstrations by some of our Negro citizens, directed
and led in part by outsiders. We recognize the impatience of people who feel that their hopes not
realized. But we are convinced that these demonstrations are unwise and untimely
@villagegirl1796
i would like to see taxes go up on the top 20% of earners and above at a graduated rate. The overseas vacations put this at and around the top 10% of earners in the 90s if not the top 5%. I'm completely okay with them being taxed to pay for social programs.

Malcolm in the Middle is very "they are middle class earning the median but precarious b/c of how many kids they have" and a good place to index at. Kids sharing rooms, no money set aside for college. Parents are tired and unable to do everything people would like. etc.
@besttrousers
Individual Employees also have a strong incentive to work on easier to make cups and put an unpopular employee making complex orders. Notice Anna at 20 cups barely moves from her stations but Vika at 10 cups is constantly moving in between people. Easily gameable situation.
A basic principle of Herbert McCabe's philosophy of prayer. Pray for what you want and God will guide you to what you should want. We see this dialectically in the psalms themselves.
You ask for the petty things and then you realize "Wow. when you put it like that..."
It's crazy that job hopping is the number one thing that can advance your career, especially in your 20s, when it's also the number one thing your parents tell you you should absolutely not do.
Literally Herbert McCabe basically says "if you are distracted during prayer, you are not being a petty enough bitch. Get real petty. God can handle it."
I've been on this shit since John Derbyshire got fired from National Review for writing an infamous article in TakiMag. I've been in the internet trenches on this for a long time. The statsracists are bad at stats and are simply *wrong*.
Actually yes. America has an almost magical ability to create Americans out of the entire world. They fall in love with Football and their daughters listen to Taylor Swift. The second gen feels torn between two worlds, the third are firmly Americans.
Many such cases!
@whstancil
Do you think America has 'magic soil' that transforms them into model citizens with a love & loyalty for their 'new country'? Quite the opposite. Wherever they land they plant THEIR culture & turn it into the hellhole they left. We will cease to be America. Period.
The US just has been hitting it right out of the park when it came to COVID response for everything but Public Health response. Fiscal response? Nailed it. Supply incentives? Nailed it. The fucking vaccines? Fucking nailed it.
