I’m 5’9”, 18% bf, daily runner, rower, and light lifter. Per watch data, <1500cal is my basal metabolic rate. With 700ish exercise calories a day, maintenance is 2200cal. To lose weight without exercising, I would easily be into 1200cal and I’m tall. The fats are coping again
