Just went to the opening of the new Lewis Hermann Reserve. @AlboMP spoke and a woman, holding a baby, showed up with a protest sign about Palestine 🍉 Police tried to forcibly remove her. A shameful response, real failure for politicians in attendance to be an ethical bystander

I only caught a moment of it and went over to tell the police to go away (which they actually did). It was rough. It’s not ok for residents to be treated with that. I’m really disappointed that no other councillor, MPs in attendance, or the prime minister called it out.

I’m depressed about housing affordability in the Inner West. I’ve lived my life here. Over 20 rentals. Will I ever have longterm housing security in this city? Home ownership?What if I end up having kids? I know these questions/ sentiments are widespread, I hear them everyday.

Tonight Inner West Council has adopted a more affordable entry fee into its swimming 🏊‍♀️ pools for welfare recipients. I’m actually really proud to have continually campaigned on this in the community - with some councillors finally getting on board with the progressive policy.

So many casual academics are rebelling against the NTEUs accord. No protection for the staff who do the majority of teaching at most universities. If the NTEU is ever going grow beyond 20% we need to bring casual workers to the front and into the leadership.

I’ve just heard that 500 people showed up to Orange council to night in support of the LGBTQI community after attempts to cancel the Orange Rainbow festival. Orange council didn’t follow the path of Cumberland council, they sent this regressive motion to the bin.

There have always been some malthusians (a small minority imo) in the Greens, I’m sure the same exists in Labor, but far out debates around housing crisis have really revealed some people. Such views are not compatible with the Greens Social Justice principle imo.

Late last night 100s of transphobes and far right (mainly from the US and UK) took to a IWC soc med post, and to a lesser extent my page. I’m proud to be part of a council that supports trans + NB people - I’ll never be discouraged from showing solidarity.
