I do know stuff to some extent (on a variety of topics). If I appear totally gormless, I may be employing sarcasm or rhetoric.

Hard times create strong men. Strong men create good times. Good times create weak men. Weak men elect Ronald Reagan. Ronald Reagan creates hard times.
@Chinchillazllla
Pretty sure this was originally a joke that some Malay said to an explorer considering whenever this comes up, westerns are like "check out this indigenous folk belief" and SEA people are like "lol classic Malay humor"
@TBesserwisser
@PaulieJTails
Although this can be true, it is misleading when considered in a vacuum. Healthy wetlands contain birds and fish to eat the mosquitos, whereas developed areas have fewer birds and no fish can reach the puddles of standing water that accumulate for mosquitos to breed in.
@lucisev
This was the first time a major video game was fully voice acted. It's stupid in hindsight but at the time they probably thought it was more efficient and the lines would be triggered programmatically anyway so might not stay in any specific order
@pandafresh
@NotABigJerk
The screenshot is implying that these people were showing off how rich they became, and receiving a comeuppance as the market readjusted. She's implying that the relaxation and comfort implied in these videos was instead a faรงade constructed to lure hires, rather than authentic.

And Hyundai had a big strike just recently. They're probably doing this chiefly so that when you Google "Hyundai squid game" you won't get that comparison.

Usually they just do a bit of writhing and lay belly up. After that, if you flip them over they will persistently turn back upside down, assuring you that they really are dead

@RoundingAgain98
Oh, it's trolling. I guess that should have been obvious, but if you have to put in more effort than the people you're deceiving, it can hardly be considered a successful troll
@b0phamet
Actually, squirrels only act like this when VERY COMFORTABLE. They are naturally intimidated by humans (due to size) and also will fear things that harmed them in the past. They will only behave this way if treated with kindness and respect for their whole lives.
@lilyxkitsune
@Zaar_CHF3
It's probably intended as making fun of LGBT suicide rates but if you look at it on its own separate from the context of what kind of person he is, it just kind of comes across as sincere
@missmulrooney
My guess is they're camping and the kid asked about if they might see a fox and this was their interpretation of how an adult explained that they probably wouldn't because foxes are shy

@xaviersonline
It's not really homophobic? Like, the joke is about a derogatory term but it's more just the silliness of the phrase than actually anything to do with homosexuality. Having an actual joke definitely makes it one of his best, even if it's not a terribly funny joke.
@TBesserwisser
@PaulieJTails
There are literally two sentences in that tweet. The second one contains the answer to the question inspired by the first.
Also, though that link is too entry-level to explain this, it mostly is about problems caused by the modification of wetlands, not actually healthy wetlands
@TBesserwisser
@PaulieJTails
It casts modification of the wetland as a "good guy" against malaria, when in fact the cause of increased malaria rates is wetland modification to begin with โ the building of housing and urban centers in the area, and segmentation of habitats creating refugia for mosquito larva.
@societyimprover
@SAMOYEDCORE
Most of that is not really optimal but the one about the Jews is exactly how you're designed to do it and basically what they really did back then
@depthsofwiki
Usue when I see this fact that didn't have westerners going "wow what a quirky indigenous belief" and SEA people going "lol classic Malay humor"
@rcbregman
It's almost like people have inherent value even from a purely economic perspective, and investing in the poor is good policy even from a nationalist perspective, not just a socialist one.
@TBesserwisser
@PaulieJTails
In actuality, eliminating mosquito habitat is at best a small-scale spot solution to a problem caused by the initial large-scale modification depicted in the original tweet.

Unfortunately she's an unrequited yearning type of lesbian, not a loads of sex type. Finding someone willing to enter a committed relationship in which they don't requit her yearning and instead just cuck her a lot seems like it'd be hard for anyone.

Hi! It's actually traditional to only use "table salt" (NaCl) and add glutamic acid by using processed tomatoes instead. Westerners historically never had the technology to produce MSG so had to make due with substitutes and it became a distinctive part of their cuisine!

That's not what a smile looks like. In case you don't know, inability to distinguish facial expressions is a symptom of autism โ if you have access to mental health care, you should see if they can help overcome this deficit.

I feel like taking into account the amount of harm it can cause a kid to read the word "horny", it's definitely something a thirteen year old can consent to. Like honestly she's fine and she was never not gonna be fine so like who cares

This is a test to determine someone's level of cognitive development, whether a person recognizes that the amount of water is the same no matter the shape of the cup

Yeah, the global pandemic that sent suicide rates skyrocketing across demographics definitely isn't related to the increase in deaths among populations highly susceptible to suicide

@doulbedoink
Nah, it's a normal reaction, akin to schachenfreude, where you watch someone just barrel into a conversation without the array of masking strategies you've carefully constructed. As if your methods don't matter, but in the end you're justified because everyone else also hates him

Yes it absolutely is. Oregano is a very basic spice. Obviously there's some variation based on culture but if you're making white/European dishes with any regularity that's probably gonna be in your top twenty most used spices

For that matter, just because there's an unsecured sex toy at the chess match doesn't mean it's being used to cheat. For all you know it's an audience member wearing it for purely recreational purposes.

If a hobbyist is what you want to be, then there's no fixing that mindset because it's not broken. Your goal is to make whatever you want to make and "better" depends only on your own preference.
