I’ve been asked a few times since yesterday, if I was the MP for North Shropshire, who would I support in the Leadership election. A fair question, and an easy one to answer. Only one man has the charisma, the drive and the experience to turn this around
#BringBackBoris
I’ve been banging this drum for years. There is no excuse for artificially low cap on medical school places unless it’s a political decision to stifle supply to get higher wages. The BMA should not have this power, no other union can control how many people train in a profession.
This decision stems back to 2008, when the BMA voted to cap the number of medical places and ban the opening of new medical schools - for fear of "overproducing" doctors and "devaluing the profession".
This is racketeering and protectionism, plain and simple.
I don’t often post campaigning pics but this one’s different. Sir David Amess was a special person who had a huge impact on my family, and left a lasting impression on me. Campaigning for
@Anna_Firth
to fill the place left by his senseless murder wasn’t politics, it was personal.
I’m expecting a pile on for saying this but I’ll say it anyway because it’s the truth. If you damage property and assault police you are a criminal. If you say ACAB because of the actions of a few but also say “don’t judge BLM because of the actions of a few” you are a hypocrite.
Farage is the Chamberlain of our time, an unreformed appeaser of dictators. History tells us the terrible price we all pay when dictators are emboldened by appeasement, but some seem determined to turn a blind eye to the lessons of the past.
@ChrisRees3
@afneil
But it’s not just being scrapped for higher rate tax payers, is it? Why focus on that tiny group and ignore the huge majority of pensioners it’s being ripped from?
I feel sick hearing the news about Sir David Amess being stabbed. My parents and grandparents all knew him and were big supporters of him. From childhood I remember him as one the kindest and most inoffensive people you could possibly meet. Praying for him 🙏
#DavidAmess
@RichParkerLab
Translation: You made a shed load of unfunded promises to get elected. Now you’re in office you’re blaming the person before who actually delivered things for your inability to deliver. And while you’re at it you’re raising fares and rolling the pitch for tax rises.
#NeverLabour
As a committed Brexiteer I say this, we have to stop as a party looking at everything through the prism of a single issue and judging someone’s Conservativeness against it. This is how we became irrelevant at this election, not focusing on the public’s priorities.
Wake up!
LEADERSHIP RACE: How did each candidate vote in the 2016 Referendum? Did they vote for May's deal? Did they vote for the Windsor Framework? Important things to bear in mind from

You know the £22bn is wrong, yet you still peddle it.
Your “measures” are handing control of finance policy from elected governments to an unelected quango.
Stop performative handwringing and represent your constituents who will be going cold this winter thanks to Labour.
Chilly start to Shropshire goes electric but the support is fantastic. Over 50 electric cars and vans on display of loads of different makes and models. It’s open until 3pm so come on down to the Shrewsbury Town FC.

I am beyond grateful for the faith the people of Battlefield have shown in me by re-electing me for another term, I will continue to serve and respond to your needs as I always have done. Thank you!
@anthonyboutall
It also means higher taxes for the rest of us as overall tax takes fall thanks to the highest tax payers being chased out of the country. Labour never learn…..

A political stunt from the party that bankrupted the largest local authority in Europe. While the people of Birmingham suffer the consequences of your record of failure you play politics. A modern day Nero

I’m not aware it’s been shown as anything of the sort, I don’t believe that any medically trained person would ‘dump’ a drip bag on top of a patient, it just wouldn’t happen. Somehthing in this picture is fishy and I don’t apologise for questioning it
@TiceRichard
We’ve not reached flu season fully and the virulence changes every year so we can’t say that yet, pneumonia is often a complication of COVID in serious cases, I can’t begin to say why comparison with cancer is wrong a tweet isn’t long enough. Please stop spreading disinformation
Our new leader needs to appeal to the country as a whole, have integrity, competence, be a unifier, not a divider and we mustn’t continue fighting battles already over.
It needs to be someone who is motivated by service, not ego.
Easy choice for me, it has to be

community tree scheme, 10,000 trees given out in 9 hours, I’ve had discussions with officers about how we can get more trees and have a second round of the tree scheme this year, watch this space!

I’ve resisted the urge to comment on events in Ukraine so far because who’s interested in what I have to say, but actually my views are as valid as anybody else’s.
Putin’s unprovoked invasion of Ukraine should horrify all of us, if he is able to ‘get away’ with it then… 1/11

@DehennaDavison
That’s a truly disgusting thing to say, you should be ashamed.
@DehennaDavison
is an extremely hard working candidate who has actually listened to what people wanted and will be a brilliant MP for Bishop Auckland
Been an action packed week talking to people across North Shropshire about the issues that matter to them in Oswestry, Market Drayton, Wem and Baschurch!

Since being announced I was taking on the Highways brief my email inbox has exploded. I will work through the influx but response times may be a little slower than normal. Please bear with me!!!
Delighted that
@ShropCouncil
has unanimously agreed to proceed with a new supported living project at Greenacres Farm for adults with complex needs to help them live independently in Shropshire
A governance review at Birmingham City Council highlights ‘low levels of trust between officers and members, a deep seated blame culture and a lack of commitment to basic principles of probity and good conduct.’
TexPatch is kryptonite to potholes! I got to see it in action this morning with one of our teams out repairing roads in Whitchurch. It’s quicker, more efficient and quieter but still a top quality repair. Another tool in our armoury to improve Shropshire’s Roads
@ShropCouncil
@CllrJohnCotton
Rank hypocrisy! You and your Labour confederates were quite happy to send an openly political letter, but you object to Andy doing his job. Maybe if you spent more time doing your jobs and less time playing politics your lot wouldn’t have bankrupted Birmingham!
#NeverLabour
A very sad day for West Midlands police, and a damning indictment of the Labour Police & Crime Commissioner and his team who have let down the people of the West Midlands and the many fantastic hardworking police officers who lack the leadership P&CCs should provide.
This is a failure of leadership from Labour's West Midlands Police and Crime Commissioner.
That’s why HMIC have placed West Midlands police under special measures.
We will do everything in our power to ensure the police are keeping the people of this country safe.
@RichParkerLab
The bare faced cheek of this! It’s your mates who bankrupted Birmingham City Council and your mates who have left West Midlands police in special measures. Totally incompetent the lot of you!
Meanwhile
@andy4wm
has run the WMCA so well he doesn’t even need to charge a precept.
@GuidoFawkes
He’s moved to a new office in the constituency, he posted a video about it on Facebook. He is absolutely committed to fighting for his constituents who had been taken for granted by Labour for over 50 years. I suggest you visit the area and see how much work he is doing locally.
At Cabinet meeting of

Protecting and enhancing our environment is something we should all care about. It doesn’t have to conflict with a strong economy, the two can be good bedfellows.

I’m almost certain you could make a low-budget, straight-to-Channel 5 Christmas movie out of tonight.
You know the drill, a fancy big city media star gets stranded in North Shropshire just a week before Christmas.
Her camera truck probably gets stuck in a field.
Disgusting take, shameful, telling a free people to give up their freedom because the scenes of fighting for that freedom makes us uncomfortable. If Russia stops fighting there’s no more war, if Ukraine stops fighting there’s no more Ukraine.
#FreedomIsWorthFightingFor
@simonkparkes
Whether they formally have the power or not, they are certainly exercising it. Even earlier this year the BMA was still insisting that spaces not be increased, despite the government’s long term staffing plan and the Health select committee both calling for it.
Delighted to be at the Tech UK hustings today, putting forward my plan for the region, especially our tech sector 💻
I’ve got ambitious plans for our £16BILLION tech sector, including our new major tech festival ‘FutureFest’ to help us power our economic growth beyond London 📈

🎉The big day is finally here!🎉
Today we are meeting with scores of businesses across the county to shape our economic strategy for the next five years as we recover from the coronavirus pandemic.
The event starts in person - and online - at 9am.
In 2017 590 MPs elected on manifestos of honouring referendum, when they had first real chance to do it 322 voted to delay a Deal they knew could pass. This has nothing to do with scrutiny and all about stopping us leaving. This Parliament is rotten

@GBNEWS
This is an extremely misleading headline based on Russian propaganda with no evidence. Ukraine has said nothing and the US has claimed that a part of a single battery had suffered unspecified damage. The article is more balanced but do better than clickbait headlines.
Was briefed today on the great efforts by

Been disgusted by some comments on this, some by people who should know better. False equivalences between ASB in town centre and people who find themselves homeless, often not their fault. Supported temp. accommodation is vital to help people get back on their feet.

@Iamkloot36
Places were limited under pressure from the BMA. The BMA are a trade union and shouldn’t have the powers they do to obstruct changes to health policy that would benefit the general public.
This is fantastic news for Whitchurch and something local conservative councillors Peggy Mullock, Tom Biggins and Gerald Dakin have been campaigning for for years.
@lezley4tern
pledged to make this happen after becoming leader of
@ShropCouncil
. Let’s get this done 💪
Good news!
We have big plans for a new £13m swimming and fitness centre in Whitchurch
It will feature a six-lane 25m pool with a movable floor, a 35-station fitness suite, multi-function rooms and a café with 20 covers
You can read all about it here:

How can anyone believe you when you can’t even be bothered to turn up to hustings? I can’t work out if you’re more scared of Andy or the people of the West Midlands

Is it time to ban beef? 🐮
Journalist and presenter Ade Adepitan argues that the production of beef is so bad for the environment that eating it should be thought of as "the new smoking".
Fantastic to see the first people getting the COVID-19 vaccine across the country, the light at the end of the tunnel just got a bit brighter. Still need to hold the line a bit longer, but we can see the finishing line at last

This is something I’ve been so excited to share. So many people have contacted me over the last few weeks asking if they can purchase a third wheelie bin from the Council and I’ve been saying wait and see. Well here it is!

Unbelievable behaviour at
@ShropCouncil
this morning, Labour objecting to and opposing the actions they themselves were calling for on the future of highways depots, disrupting the meeting and repeatedly interrupting the Chair when we were trying to vote
An amazing project that will make a real difference to the lives of Whitchurch residents, so proud to have been involved in it since the beginning with the local councillors
👀What a view!👀
Here's an incredible birds-eye view of the new Pauls Moss development in Whitchurch
✅71 apartments for the over 55s
✅A new, modern, two-storey health centre
✅A community space and café
🚨Government Support🚨
Almost 25,000 pensioners across North Shropshire will be receiving £300 extra to help with rising heating costs from today.
It’s one part of the Government’s Cost of Living support package to help our most vulnerable cope with rising fuel costs this winter.

🚌BUS BACK BETTER🚌
We have asked Government for £98m to improve bus services across the whole of Shropshire.
Green buses, real time info, cheaper fares, Sunday services are all in our plan.
Here, Councillors
@DC4Battlefield

Today’s the first day of leafletting for the local elections. Knocking on doors is always my favourite part of election campaigns but due to COVID we’ve decided not to go door knocking this year because we don’t want to put anyone at risk or make anyone feel uncomfortable. 1/2
Best possible result for everyone, delighted to have been able to help

Since I took on highways last year

is one of the roads most mentioned as being in a bad state. Always difficult to close such a busy road for work but it was definitely needed. When I was on-site last week I saw the team doing a fantastic job resurfacing it.

How about you stop playing politics on social media and do the job the people of the West Midlands pay you for? If you did maybe West Midlands police wouldn’t be going into special measures in your watch.
